Summary: Great pirate movie
Review: If you long for one of those movies with pirates, battles and all the rest like you watched them when you were a kid... Well, then you should really watch Cutthroat Island. In opposition to most of the pirate movies from the firties and sixties who are in our eyes now rather pathetic, this movie is great fun and entertainment...

Summary: Great Action but Poor Acting
Review: The film was entertaining and contained some GREAT shots and battle scenes with EXCELLENT music, however I think that the bad acting and lack of character development really hurt it. The reason that this film did so poorly in the theaters (grossed 11 mil. and cost 100 mil.) can be seen by watching the exceptionally horrible theatrical and teaser trailers featured on the DVD. Had this movie been properly advertised I'm sure it would have broken the 100 million marker. I don't think that you should pass up on seeing the movie just because of the acting. I suggest renting the film for the excellent cinematography and musical score ard seeing if that is enough to pursuade you to purchase the film, but if you really like adventure films with lots of amazing action and stunts then this is the film for you.

Summary: Oh yes!
Review: This is THE action movie for the 90ties(along with THE MATRIX of course) This is an action-movie that breaks new ground. I'm serious, I am! This movie rocks so hard....and the fantastic score of John Debney...OH YES!

Summary: Don't miss it!
Review: Cutthroat Island is the absolute best action movie ever released. I don't understand how it bombed and why people think it sucked. Obviously they are missing something because no matter how many times i've seen it i still get all pumped up when the opening theme comes on. It's a don't miss, and if you let you're imagination go with the flow you'll wish you could go back in time and be sailing around the Caribbean with them. The story is awsome, the special effects are unbelievable, and regardless of whats been said, the acting is really great.

Summary: How dare you!
Review: How dare you people say this is a bad movie! It is AWESOME movie! One of the best I've ever seen. Maybe the acting isn't great, but WHO CARES! People who always look at how the movie is done can never really enjoy it. I think it was awesome. It's got action, adventure, romance, comedy, fencing, cute guys, a girl pirate... What's not to like?

Summary: One of the best action adventures ever
Review: This is one of my favorite movies. I am a pirate buff, and all of the details about pirates and the time period were accurate. This is not meant to be a realistic movie, but just fun and exciting like Indiana Jones.

Summary: Horrible...Just Horrible
Review: This movie could be one of the worst I've ever seen. The acting is formulaic, the action and story are too. The only difference between this movie and other "action" movies is this one takes place with pirates and on ships. Some of the scenes are beyond laughable (for instance, Geena Davis, in one scene, outruns a team of horses while jumping through windows, dodging obstacles and leaping out another window). If you are aged 10-13, you might like it, otherwise consider yourselves warned. Oh, and the "bad-guy death" scene is the funniest thing I ever saw, but wasn't supposed to be.

Summary: Ship-shape action.
Review: See this movie. When you know the two ships are going to close at the end and do battle, you know you're in for a heavy-duty duel! Geena Davis, Matt Modine, and Frank Langella make you want to be pirates. They do most of their own stunts! I want to be, need to be, Modine swinging from mast to mast. Frank Langella is almost as good as Ricardo Montalban in "Star Trek II" when he says "Fire!" The music is stirring and the main theme will have you humming after the film is over. If you liked this flick, check out the 1989 version of "Treasure Island" starring Chuck Heston as Long John.
