Summary: Never wish, just love and persevere
Review: This second chapter is just a couple of years later. The hero, in the real world, does not have the courage to jump into the swimming pool from the top diving board. To recapture his courage he has to go to Fantasia again. And in this Fantasia, which is menaced again by Empty, a bad fairy, let's say, he has to confront her and destroy her. But she tricks him by stealing his memories along with satisfying his wishes. Each wish is a lost memory. He is about to become totally empty and Fantasia would die by becoming a non-entity. We can note this time he is part of this adventure directly in Fantasia. But he is saved because he finds the tricky wish that kills the bad Fairy, but essentially because his father is reading the story as it is happening and he is able to believe it and to communicate with his son. The engineer the father is has learned at the end that it is not enough to see something, you need to believe that the invisible exists. But the hero finally finds the courage to dive into an abyss and also, and that is very good, the courage, and God knows a child needs a lot of courage to do that, to tell his father he loves him. It is true it is a lot easier to tell your father that you hate him. Dr Jacques COULARDEAU, Paris Universities II and IX.

Summary: The Evolution of the NES
Review: This sequel demonstrates the commitment to film-making growth in the Never Ending Story series. I highly recommend watching the Never Ending Story III before seeing this one though.
I usually watch them in reverse order.
And, if you play Dark Side of the Moon along with the movie (start the album right as the name of the movie appears on the screen) you'll be in for a real treat.

George Miller really outdid himself here.

Summary: Better see the first one
Review: This sequel is very bad. The director is not W.Peterson, and the result is just dull. Avoid this bad movie, and rewatch the first and only one Neverending story. Read the book, if you want. But do not watch this thing, or you'll regret it!

Summary: IT was terrible
Review: This video was the worst display of the ruin of a perfect classic. Sequels are seldom as good as the first movie, but this was just pathetic. I slept through most of it. It was like a cross between Power Rangers gone wrong and bad '80s flicks.

Summary: The Neverending Glory
Review: Well, the second chapter of a great story. This movie is great yet it has some issues. Bastien is in more of the story this time and Artrayu is not. I guess thats a good thing being that he is nothing like the original. Nevertheless, it is a good movie, so calm down and buy it with the first one, and if your in a good mood buy the third. ë

Summary: Fantasia and Turmoil; Two Constant Bedfellows
Review: While not in the same league as the first Neverending Story, this was still pretty good and is even more redeemable now that I've seen the 3rd installation (what a horrible movie!) in the storyline. It does suffer from the sequel bug a bit, though, seemingly needing to dip into the character bin and fish out some names and faces that were interesting in the first, adding in faces like Rockbiter and justifying this by giving him Junior - of all things. Still, there are plenty of characters and places that are added anew to make up for these little indiscretions and I need my excursions into Fantasia to reignite my childhood visions.

Our tale again follows the follies of Bastian the Everfearful as he tries to deal with the loss of his mother and his subsequent terror as he finds himself plagued by heights and can't join the swimteam (not exactly on the same level, but still hurdles for the young hero). While feeling a bit down because of interactions with a father he loves and yet feels is forgetting the mother he loves, Bastian returns to a beloved bookstore and again is called by the book. Here he finds himself confronted by a new enemy, Xayide, and something nameless that once again threatens to erase the land he loves so much. He also finds himself with a new ability to aid him on his quest as well, one that allows him to gain anything he wishes for, but at what cost does such power come?

While this is indeed a child's movie, I still found it enjoyable on many levels; thoroughly enjoying the scourge of Xayside and the minions that helped promote the darkness she births. If you haven't seen any of these, though, start with the first and continue forward though, stopping before you hit the third and hoping Bastian will save you from its presence without ever telling you about it.
