Rating: Summary: Being the game player, I was terrbily disappointed. Review: Yes, I did indeed think that since the movie was titled, Final Fantasy, it would at least incorporate some of the game series into it. By that I mean, some of the meat of the game. The magic, summons, monsters, towns, people, character interaction, etc. Problem is, all this movie had was the small character interaction. It seems the only thing they took from Final Fantasy was the plot line, and that is so sad, as the games were about 100 times more richer than this movie. The graphics were awesome, but the voice-lip synching was not. I got dizzy trying to follow Baldwin's character when talking, as his mouth barely moved. Only the old man comes across as 100% real. If you really need this move, go rent it as the price to own it, isn't worth it.
Rating: Summary: poor thing Review: if you are looking for the best cg movie ever developed, here it is. however, if you love the final fantasy series, or squaresoft, don't go. it has nothing to do with final fantasy, they just used the name to bring people. it worked, they got me. i have never seen a $115 million wasted until now. well at least with all that money they spent on software for the movie, the next couple games should be real good.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable for a non-gamer Review: I have never sat down to play a single game of Final Fantasy, but I was so intrigued by the previews, I couldn't wait to see the movie this summer. I was blown away. It was a spectacular movie that not only had a great plot, but the CG was so detailed and well-done, you sometimes thought you were looking at real people. You feel a real attachment to the characters and their adventure to save man-kind. It combined so many emotional elements that it was a rollercoaster of a movie. I cannot wait to buy it on DVD, and I truly hope that there is a sequel already on the table for production. Animation isn't for children anymore. The sky is the limit!
Rating: Summary: ... Review: I just don't know why not a lot of people liked this movie. Some say that it has nothing to do with the game. For those guys, read this: doesn't meteor sound familiar in a FF game? What about love, not familiar either? Read this: FF7? FF8? I guess some people overlook those things. I just don't know why. I came out and this movie kind of touched me for some reason, I don't know what but... The movie is an eye candy, it's just plain beautiful. No doubt about it. But most people just look at this and say the movie was great. Some people hate the movie just because the story wasn't good Some people hate the movie...ah I don't want to talk about it anymore. My opinion is that I totally disagree with the reviewers. These guys just review the movie by telling people if the storytelling was good, or if the directing was good...but they don't tell you what they felt after tehy saw the movie. Thanks
Rating: Summary: Great movie at some parts, cheesy at others Review: Its finally good to see a computer generated movie thats serious. But its very lacking in some parts. First of all there is the visuals and sound. They raise the bar for any sci-fi movie and may influence the ways other computer generated movies are done. The great visuals and musical score really make this movie one thats well worth the ticket. Another high point is the action and explosions that highlight the film too. And we all love explosions dont we? The story will make people who have played the games feel very familiar with it becuase it is very similar some of the games. Also the plot feels that it has been very well put together and makes you think about whats going on. Unfortunatly the more you think about it, the more holes in the story you see, and therefore after a while of though after the movie, it begins to appear stupid and downright rediculous. The story may also just not appeal to certain people who just came for the CG action. The worst part is the script, and the lines just appear as they have no emotion what so ever. But hopefully the visuals are good enough to make op for that some. All put together, its an alrigh movie. The intense detail to the visuals and fantastic musical score save the day. Proving once again, that a movie can be good without a amazing plot and script.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: Being a big fan of the games, I expected a lot out of this movie. When I first got to the theaters to see it I was about 25 mintues late and missed the important parts. All I was thinking throughout the movie was, "Where's the Materia? The cards? THE CHOCOBOS?" (If you know the games, you know what I'm talking about.) I left the theater in dissapointment. But when I went back a second time, I watched the whole movie and thought a little. If they directly made the movie the video game(s), it would have been a real flop, like Titan A.E. The Materia and Chocobos make the Final Fantasy games more game-ish, so I guess it's better to take them out. Pretty much, the movie is good and sad and sweet with awesome graphics. Fans of the games MIGHT be dissatisfied, but normal sci-fi fans will enjoy it. There is not much violence and some cursing, so it should be OK for kids 11+. The bottom line: You either love it or medium like it.
Rating: Summary: A must see! Review: I rated this movie this way as I would have rated any other movie, it is a science fiction-fantasy movie. The story has some original elements, but it's another apocalyptic scenario, with humanity facing anhihilation. It clearly borrows some action scenes from James Cameron's Aliens, the director must be a fan of it. It is though a very entertaining, thrilling, suspenseful movie. What sets it apart it's the fact that is entirely CG, and the characters are human like, not smiley cartoons, thanks a lot for that, at last somebody did it, no toys, no ogres, no ants, no dinosaurs, not that I didn't like'em, I did, but this movie dares to go further, and makes the other CG movies producers look as if they have been cowering from taking the next step. It isn't a kids movie, it is dark, a bit sad, and characters die, good guys! The characters, well, are the most realistic CG humans to date, and can convey human emotions, not just humor. I hope they make virtual actors out of them, so we can see them in other movies, it will be great to see Aki again even if it isn't a FF sequel, she could even turn into a model, make TV ads for any hair treatment brand. This movie doesn't have much relation with the game series from which it takes the name, but it's in its favour, so it doesn't feel like you just went to see somebody else play. The voice talents are great, this movie is somewhat of a milestone for CG movies, it's a must see. I only give it three stars, but I must say I liked it so much, it's my favorite this summer, I've seen it again and still found it awesome, the impression didn't wear off.
Rating: Summary: Stunning Review: This is the best film I have ever seen. It has a very emotional plot and the visual effects were stunning. I have heard so many people say that the plot was boring or dull but I ask those people "what are you talking about?" Just because it carries a few idead from other films, so what? So did Chicken Run and I didnt hear many people complain about that. And writers rely on eachother for material it happens. And its not like the games I agree but the games arent like EACHOTHER either. Thats what makes them good they all have different plots and charaters. I thought the plot was very well written and that Ming Na fitted Aki perfectly. Not to mention the Amazing soundtrack. I remember sitting in my seat staring at the beautiful ending scene, crying, and then "the dream within" comes on the digital sound sytem and it created this amazing emotional surge. It was perfect. Congratulations to Sakaguchi for taking the giant leap from game-creator to a movie director so succesfully.
Rating: Summary: Well Begun Half Done Review: Before this film it's felt so long to wait this movie. After this film it's hard to abstain from watchin' it again and again.. At last I've ticketted this film three times. But still feel not enough. The expression on their face is not lifelike but plastic. But so many woderful moments in this film would make you ignore this little problem. It's really the revolution in the entertainment. And also it's just beginning.. Furthermore, the story line is never obsolete. With this film we can meet the moment of facing one of the most perfect masterpieces. It won't bring you down!!
Rating: Summary: Hopefully not the "Final" Fantasy Review: This is the best movie I've ever seen, and I don't know why so many people think it's such a bad movie. Final Fantasy fans tend to say it has nothing to do with the game, just because there's no magic, dragons or swords. But in my opinion that's not what Final Fantasy is all about. Final Fantasy is about love, hate, sacrofice,... about emotions, not about dragons etc. Maybe it's because I'm a girl that I think about it that way, but I don't think so. Some reviewers act as if there is nothing more to this picture then just it's graphics. Well I don't. They say the plot isn't original. Well, it doesn't start out very original, but the deeper you get into the story, the more you'll notice that it is in fact very original. And kind of like Final fantasy 7, where everything has a spirit even the earth. Of course the graphics are great, but that's not all there is to this movie! I could go on about it forever, it's just been released here in my country, and I've already seen it 2 times, I am going again tonight. It's that good!!! Really people if you haven't seen it you should, even if you don't really like sci-fi, like me, it's emotional driven storyline is so intreging you'll want to see it again and again.
