Written by David S. Goyer (The Crow:City of Angels, Dark City, Blade 2) brings a Stright-Out Entertaining Adeventure, adapted from the Marvel Comic Book. Goyer Scpirt does have a Plot Holes in the Story but Thanks to Strong Performances by the Cast, makes this Comic Book Adapation a Winner. Snipes, Stephen Dorff as the Lead Villian, Kris Kristifferson as Blade`s Mentor and N`Bushe Wright as a Doctor, who`s Helps Blade. Donal Logue (TV`s:Grounded for Life) as a Annoying Panicking Vampire. DVD`s has an sharp anamorphic Widescreen (2.35:1) transfer and an Strong Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. DVD has an Commentary Track, which is Informative (Although Slow) by the Filmmakers and Cast Members. DVD has a Deleted Scene (That Clears, One of the Plot Holes) and the Original Ending, which it does make More Sense than the Theatrical Release Version. DVD is Packes with Extras as Many Making of Featurettes, Tralier and More. Snipes is Ultra-Cool as the Title Role. The Film may move at a Slow and Long at Times but It`s moves at a Brisk Clip. Watch for Ex-Porn Star:Traci Lords in a Brief Role in the Opening Scene. Followed by Two Sequels. Clairmont-Scope. Grade:A-.

Summary: Techno-Vampo Cool
Review: I've never read any of the "Blade" comics, so I'm reviewing this film with absolutely nothing in print to compare it to. This is a solid action film that raises the bar for other comic hero movies. Snipes is superb as "Blade" and Dorff handles the role of "Deacon Frost" exceptionally well. It's a very dark film that has a continuous techno vibe to it. The fight scenes in this film are excellent and, much like "Mortal Kombat," driven by techno music. Unlike "Mortal Kombat," this movie isn't campy. The writers and director seem to have taken "Blade" and given him an honest, well-meaning portrayal. As stated before, I don't know how the comic is, but "Blade" seems to have been taken a lot more seriously than most superhero movies. It's much more serious than the first "Batman" movie and and ten times as sophisticated as the sequels.
As an action film, this movie more than suffices. If you enjoy the violent action of "Daredevil," you'll definitely like this film. It isn't as fun as "Spiderman," but that's because this character is more about business and doesn't have time to wisecrack like the Webslinger. "Blade" will hold it's own against any of the Marvel movie adaptations, but I'm afraid the character is sort of like "Daredevil" in that he isn't as well known as Spiderman or the Incredible Hulk and therefore suffers for this reason at the box office. Don't get me wrong, I know that "Blades I & II" did exceptionally well profit-wise, but the character will never garner profits such as "Spiderman" simply because he isn't as recognizable as the wall-crawler. As a matter of fact, there are probably more obscure X-men out there who are better known than "Blade." In closing I can only say this: "Blade" is an excellent action flick that pleases the eye and ear. It's a dead(or undead, if you please) serious movie that moves at a quick pace and satifies not only comic and action fans, but vampire fans as well.

Review: I saw a cops one time where the cop asked the kid if we was a vampire and the dumb ass said yes so the cop took him in for being on acid. So watch this movie about a guy who hunts vampires and remember when the cops pull you over at least make an effort to lie to them.

Review: When watching Blade the first thing you have to keep in mind is that it is primarily an action movie. It's not in the horror genre, and really isn't trying too hard to be a 'vampire movie.' It's an action movie where the bad guys happen to be vampires. That said, it is a great movie. Sure Wesley Snipes has acted better, but this is an action movie, not a drama. There are some great fight scenes (and I think Snipes was in on the fight choreography). Stephen Dorff is just plain evil in this movie (good job--really believable). It has a crips look to it and the techno soundtrack moves it all along. It's really a good movie. The dvd is loaded with extras. There's a commentary track with Wesley Snipes, David Goyer (writer), Theo Van De Sande (dir of photography), Peter Frankfurt (producer), Kirk Petruccelli (production designer) and Stephen Dorff. And these guys give a great commentary. It's one of the better I've heard. There is also an isolated scroe with commentary by composer Mark Isham. It's almost worthless. Half the time he's talking over the music, or we're missing out on source music (music Isham didn't score and came from radios and such). It's choppy and disjointed. It would have been better to have a 15-20 minute interview with Isham and then an isolated score, with no commentary, and including all source music. As it is, it's tough to hear how important the music is to the film. This isolated score track actually makes it seem like Isham's score was unimportant. Also on the dvd are biography/filmography of cast and crew, theatrical trailer, sketches and prodcution designs. There's also the "House of Erebus" which gives the 'history' of each of the twelve tribes in the vampire ruling council. It's interesting, though not essential to the film--just a nice extra. There are four featurettes. 1) La Magra - which has the original ending and discusses the stories evolution. 2) Designing Blade 3) The Origins of Blade - which discusses comics and especially dark comics (including an interview with Stan Lee) 4) The Blood Tide - which is a look at vampire mythology and in literature. That one is a really good featurette, especially if you are interested in vampire mythology. You can't go wrong here. It's a great vampire movie. It's a great action movie. And it's a great dvd.

Summary: Blade kicks butt
Review: Finally a mainstream vampire flick that is cool and delivers the action. Right away it is established that this is going to be different from every other vamp. movie you've seen before. I don't mind big budget Hollywood productions as long as they are somewhat creative with the storyline, don't bore me with endless dialog/build up and provide lots of action and fun. Blade was a real surprise, as I wasn't expecting much but it really blew me away with spectacular visuals, chase scenes that get your heart racing, a badass hero (Snipes' character Blade), stunning action and an overall ultra sleek feel with tight pacing and a real lack of dullness (how refreshing). The gory death scenes are a nice treat as well, this is the advantage with cg effects: you can do pretty much anything if you can imagine it. Villains are sliced to pieces and spray geysers of blood similar to Shogun Assassin (another cool movie people should check out). Wesley Snipes is not one of my favorite actors but he did a great job playing the role of a dark and mysterious warrior, he is almost bounty hunter like. Blade is a major vampire hunter, and has a really deadly arsenal of weapons, mainly consisting of a big sword that he uses to slash vamps. Blade prowls the city streets and underworld at night seeking the growing number of vampires that are planning to rule the earth. His strength and skills are heightened because of his genetics- he is part vampire. This idea works well for me, you have to be able to explain how he is able to be so successful as a hunter, how he can identify the vamps and over power them.
Blade's strength is also his weakness though, he must take a syrum that controls his thirst for blood. This is gonna tie into the story for a nice little twist toward the end. Anyone who liked Interview With the Vampire will enjoy it. Along with a new found female companion, Blade is lured into the final confrontation that will determine the fate of the world. Nothing new here, but the big showdown is well done and holds your attention till' the cliffhanger climax. When these vampires die they puff up and explode,
spraying blood and guts into the air. This alone is worth seeing the film. I've seen a few vampire movies, and I would have to say that Blade easily beats "John Carpenter's Vampires" and "Fright Night" which are two of the most popular ones, but it's not a fair fight since Blade is more action than horror. Blade is a movie that oozes coolness, I would describe it as a mix of the Batman films, The Matrix, Highlander, Fist of the North Star, and From Dusk Till Dawn. I highly recommend it.

i believe that if "a clockwork orange" were to be re-written today, instead of going into detail about the violence in the films alex was forced to watch, they would simply say: "The men in white coats lifted his eybrows and made him watch blade"
oh i forgot, you probably haven't read a book that doesn't have picture's, because the people who enjoyed blade are the same people who think "the rock" can act.

Summary: One of the Best Comic Book Adaptions to hit the Big Screen!
Review: Lets face it. There have been only a handful of great films that were based on Comic Books: Superman, Batman, The X-Men, ect. With all the rest being dismal failures, usually because all involved didn't take their source material seriously enough and went in a completely different direction. Not bothering to really understand why people truly love these characters in the first place. These kinds of people should never be allowed to direct films derived from comic books. It was the summer of 1998. The hollywood machine was throwing out dozens of entertainment fodder for the masses to engulf. I saw 14 film in the movie theaters that year. Blade was the only one of them I saw twice. Talk about a movie experience! From the opening shots, you are literally sucked in (no pun intended) to the world of the vampires. Wesley Snipes completely embraces the role of the title character and plays him to the hilt, with just a bit of dry cocky humor that is very refreshing. As we first meet Blade at a Vampire techno club (which uses a great remix of a song called "Confusion" by New Order) we just know he's a force to be reckoned with as he slices, dices, burns & just plains blows up every vampire he gets a hold of (including Traci Lords, in a very memorable cameo). Kris Kristofferson plays Whistler, Blade's mentor and creator of the various weapons at his disposal, including guns & knives, bombs, & more. ("We have a good arrangement. He makes the weapons, I use 'em"). But it's Stephen Dorff as the bloodthirsty Deacon Frost that helps catapult the film from average action fair to the stuff of comic book legend. With most actors, this would be a one or two dimensional performance, but in the hands of Stephen Dorff, he turns the character of Deacon Frost into something much more multilayared. The interaction he has with Blade as well as his other fellow vampires give off this feel of someone we should not underestimate. Because a truly great villain is a huge key to a movie's success. The whole mythos of vampires in this film moves the genre in a very interesting direction. According to Blade, pure silver, garlic & sunlight are the main tools to combat vampires. ("Crosses don't do d***, so forget about what you've seen in the movies") But the fact that the pure blood vampires are personified as old & disposable, while the nonpure vampires are young and virile, looking to take over and run things, can really be looked at as a depiction of our society, with the old guard being kicked out by the new one, lest anarchy ensue. But "Blade" is without a doubt one of the best comic book adaptions to hit the big screen in a long time. It is truly up there with Superman & Batman as the best of the best. And New Line Cinema gives you more to praise about with the wonderful DVD Platinum Edition, that includes a nice audio commentary with Wesley Snipes, Stephen Dorff and others from the production and writing team. The only disappointing thing is that everyone is recorded seperately instead of all together in one big room which is more fun to listen to. Four Featurettes are also included: "La Magra" - which discusses the films evolution as well as showing some deleted scenes from the film (Deacon Frost's idea of freezing humans and harvesting them for their blood, plus the original ending of Frost turning into a digital effects blood monster. You'll be so glad it was deleted once you see it.) "Designing Blade" - a look at the production designs including interior, exteriors, Blade's arsenal and more! "The Origins of Blade" - An indepth discussion with Marvel Comics alum, Stan Lee & others on the genesis of comic books going from kid friendly to more for adults. "The Blood Tide" - A very interesting look at Vampire mythology in general beginning from the early 1900's. Plus you get the definitions to most of the glyphs shown in the film, cast & crew bios and film credits, as well as the wonderful original theatrical trailer that still packs a punch all it's own! Summary: A very cool spin on the vampire genre, great extras!
Review: This was a fun movie and an even better DVD. Wesley Snipes stars as Blade, a day-walking vampire. Snipes also produced the film. Stephen Dorf plays a cold-blooded vampire named Deacon Frost. His plans are for total and complete destruction of the humans. Blade has a very cool look to it and it starts off with a bang. Blade enters a underground vampire nightclub and all hell breaks loose as he kills vampires right and left. As for the DVD, it has a killer anamorphic widescreen picture matted at 2:35.1 and the Dolby Digital 5.1 track is of reference quality. When Traci Lords(playing a vampire) enters the club with an unsuspecting guest the music from the club pounds out deep .1 lfe effects and has some serious surround presence when the bloodbath begins; the blood from the sprinklers comes from everywhere. I saw this movie at my local theater and it was presented in DTS and it was unbelievable. The DTS track brought out nuances in the rear channels and has real aggressive discrete channels.(possiblly an oxymoron) I might have to pick up the DTS laserdisc to see if it can match the theatrical presentation in which I saw it. Anyway, this is a cool movie and an even better DVD with a ton of extras and even a 5.1 channel theatrical preview like Lost in Space's. Highly recommended for both picture and sound quality.

Summary: This movie kicks ass!
Review: Blade is cool. Ok...the movie is about Blade (Wesley Snipes) who is a part-human part vampire who has all of the vampire strengts and none of their weaknesses; he can walk into sunlight, but he's got their thirst. He is helped by Whisler (Kris something, sorry the last name is just too hard to spell) who hunt vampires. Blade's mother was bitten by a vampire when she was in labor with Blade. So now, Blade hunts down vampires and is looking for the man who made him.
Then he meet's Karen, a doctor who is bitten by one of the vampires who he sets on fire Quinn (Donald Lowe). So now as he hunt's vampires, Karen tries to find a cure for herself since she is slowing becoming a vampire herself. Blade's mission is to kill Decon Frost (Stephen Dorf) who is slowly rising in the vampire ranks and is on the hunt for La Migra (blood God). Karen is then put as bait to hunt down's Frost's follwers who is a NYPD cop who is dropping off blood to Frost. Blade then gets into some trouble, but he makes it out thanks to Whisler.
Then Karen and Whisler are found by Frost which Whisler is killed and Karen is taken by Frost. So now Frost then breaks the code for La Mirga and he get's the high members of the vampire ranks. Blade is then caught and he reunited with his mother; but she is not his mother because she is now a vampire. It is then he finds out that Frost bit his mother and Frost is the man who created Blade. Blade has to be used for La Migra because he is the 'day walker' and for La Migra to happen, Blade is used. Eventually Karen escapes from a pit where her ex-boyfriend turn into a zombie instead of a vampire. As she escapes, she rescue's Blade and now the fight is on. Blade and Frost get into a fight but now Frost is now the blood God.
He is then killed and now Blade heads to Russia where he hunts down more vampires. Except this time he is looking for Whisler which happens in Blade 2. The movie kicks ass because the story is fresh, and the acting is great. Blade 2 had better fight scenes, but still Blade still rules!

Review: Firstly this movie is one of the best films to come out of the 90's, one of the movie kung-fu type heroes with swords,guns the whole nine yards.Plus the first movie the feature the Bullet-time effect ,not The Matrix!!Plus there was that building jump, anybody remember that? . And also one of the quotes from Blade
