Summary: Godzilla vs. Megaguirus on DVD
Review: Godzilla vs. Megaguirus (aka Godzilla x Megaguirus) is a spectacular film in its own right. As a homage to the classic showa (1954-1975) Godzilla films, "GxM", as its known in the kaiju fandom, excells in almost every respect. The action-packed plot and pacing coupled with great special effects (most of the time) and believable actors makes for a great godzilla film for the 20th century. As an obsessive Godzilla enthusiast, I enjoyed the film a great deal, and recommend it to all kaiju fans.Movie Rating: 9 out of 10 As for the DVD itself, the picture quality is astonishing. The widescreen video is sharp and clean. Perfect! The 5.1 dobly digital sound is astoundingly pounding and equally perfect. 28 chapter stops are included as well. But the addition of the original Japanese audio track is what really shines in this release. Unfortunately, the english subtitles for the track are not subtitles at all, but rather "dubtitles" taken almost directly from the dubbed english track of the film. This means that the subtitles are not always completely faithful to the original script. But this doesn't pose too much of a problem as the dub is faithful enough as it is. The only other extras on the DVD are trailers for other Sony DVD releases. DVD rating: 9 out of 10 (one point deducted for dubtitles)

Summary: Who wrote the Amazon review...Steven Spielberg?
Review: What can you say about this film the amazon Editorial Review does'n't already say ...well EVERYTHING! This is by far one of the superior G flicks of these times. The whole film comes across as science fiction gone crazy, the idea that any country would entertain the concept of using a weapon that can blast matter into another dimension - on such a beast as Godzilla is just how desperate the Japanese government has become...and of 'course the results are devastating. It's fantastical movies like this that keep us Gfans coming back and screaming for more. The mix of traditional rubber suited monsters and CGI is done well here, all with that incredible Japanese sense of style and twisted beauty. As usual the flick is a mecha of model work and bizare creatures all intent on killing each other... and the only good by-product is Japan gets trashed!
The special effects are fabulous - not bad, catch the movie and enjoy the ride...OK.

Review: Once Again its thatBoyK with this godzilla review and all I have to say about this one was HMMMMMMMMm i guess alright.I mean the special effects were all right but i was hoping they change
the godzilla suit but i guess they stuck to the G2K one.The movie was alright I mean the monster action was very good I mean my eyes were like wow Megagrius can throw down and its not backing down from nobody at all.I mean you have godzilla doing a huge ring side leap into the air and slam right into the bug.I mean man when did Godzilla been known to do that but I guess In my part it was very cool.But overal its a Good G flick i suggest everyone watch it because the monster fighters are very good at
its best.

Summary: Great G Film
Review: I like this movie because it was exciting. The monster costumes were cool. The minitures were more detailed than in older G-films with good digital enhancements. Nice cinematography and composition. Updated just enough with good old fashioned story and G action. Ifukube is still the master but the score was a refreshing change. I would like to see this monster come back again in Godzilla, Final Battle.

Summary: Finally! Godzilla as it should be seen! And it's a good one!
Review: REJOICE! TriStar is finally releasing Godzilla films in JAPANESE with ENGLISH SUBTITLES-the way they should be seen. (There's a dubbed version on this disc as well if you still want that childhood feeling of watching a monster movie on Saturday morning). Not only do we get the original Japanese, we also get 5.1 stereo and enhanced widescreen (which is VERY important with a subtitled film when you watch it on a widescreen TV). As for the film itself: well, chances are you haven't seen this entry in the series. This is the first time it's been available in the U.S. It immediately follows up "Godzilla 2000," although it isn't really a direct sequel (the history of Godzilla is played around with a bit.) It improves immensely on "Godzilla 2000," offering more Godzilla, more science-fiction gadgets and super-weapons, more wacky science, more monster fights, and pretty much all the rubber-suited butt-kicking you could ever want in a Godzilla film. This one has it all, and the effects are clever and fun. The music is also some of the best to thunder through a G-movie since the sixties. New Godzilla director Masaaki Tezuka is a huge fan of the series, and it shows. This is a fast, fun, fan-pleasing film. And Godzilla is at his best here; a force of lethal destruction, an accidental hero, and someone you do not want to mess with! Godzilla shows more personality here than he has in the last couple of films. You'll root for him and cheer him on during his knock-down drag-out fantastic battle with the baddie monster: a giant insectoid creature called Megaguirus (a spawn from a black hole!). There are some problems: a few effects just don't work, Godzilla engages in a moment of incredibly silly behavior, and the logic behind much of the science is pretty darn ludicrous. But the action sequences make up for it, and there's so much enjoy here: The "James Bond" style action opening with foot-soldiers trying to take on Godzilla from city block to city block. The heroine actually hanging off of Godzilla's spines. The massive meganuron swarm attack. The flying super-weapon facing-off with Godzilla. And-It bears repeating-that final fight brings down the house! (And about twenty city blocks on the waterfront as well.) Godzilla fans: grab it now. Casual fans: you don't know what you've been missing, and I envy your first viewing of this exciting, big-lizard-city-smashing-laser-gun-toting-monster-insect-bazookas-blazing-smack-down! ROAR ON, GODZILLA! (And make sure you also buy the now-available: "Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack," the next film in the series.)

Summary: A Fun Movie!
Review: After years of waiting, the film "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" is finally released! And, it is on DVD! Not only it is English Dubbed, but they actually have the Japanese track! That's a first! This movie was fun, fun FUN! In my opinion, it's much better than GMK: Giant Monsters All-Out attack! In 1954, Godzilla raided Japan. Then he did it again in 1966 and 1996. Now we enter 2001 were the G-graspers are building a new weapon called the Dimension Tide! The test was successful, but it creates a portal were Megaguirus lays her egg. It hatches a Meganuron, transform into Meganula, and, after battling with Godzilla, the swarms gave energy, and Megaguirus is born and faces Godzilla! After a huge battle, Godzilla defeats Megaguirus, but the G-graspers fire the Dimension Tide. They think they won, but... well, you have to see the ending after the credits! This film is really the greatest Godzilla movie since Godzilla (1954) and it really packs a PUNCH! Godzilla was showing his showa-style moves, including the BODY SLAM! The audio and picture was nice, but I wish they put more extras. It creeps me out when Megaguirus smiles, but that's just me. The final battle was Godzilla's best yet, and it's unforgetable! Some may not like this movie, but if your a fan, get this movie! Nice work Godzilla!!!

Summary: Fun fights, boring movie
Review: I'm a long time Godzilla fan. I got this movie having heard mixed reviews, and after watching it I can tell why. The movie was pretty boring for the 40-50 minutes. Then the monster fighting began. The fighting was really alot of fun. Godzilla and Megaguirus are two very different kinds of monsters and it's fun to see their different abilities used against each other. I recommend this movie to any Godzilla fans. To the general movie going audience, however, I would recommend some of the other Godzilla movies with a more interesting (and serious) plot. Godzilla verse Megaguirus just isn't quite as good as the original Godzilla, Godzilla 1985, or Godzilla 2000.

Summary: Despite being recent, a shockingly poor movie.
Review: Though part of the latest (3rd) generation Godzilla series -- the Millenium series that follows Godzilla 2000 -- this movie is amazingly poor. The Godzilla costume is identical to the one from Godzilla 2000, and the effects (flame breath, etc) are roughly based on the same look and computer technology, but that's where the similarities end. The movie looks like Godzilla 2000 with 1/10th the budget allocated to it. Laughable blue-screen scenes that resemble stuff you'd see in the 80's are everywhere in this movie. The pacing is slow, and the fighting doesn't even begin until 1 hour and 5 minutes into the show. The plot, as with most of the movies in the somewhat unofficial Godzilla Millenium series, is discontinuous and ignores all other Godzilla movies in the Millenium series, including the events of Godzilla 2000. Basically, it's a new Godzilla every single movie. The director for this movie is NOT the same as the one for Godzilla 2000, and that also explains the different feel of this movie. Only the costume and effects remain the same. For your information, the director who worked on Godzilla 2000 also worked on Godzilla vs Destroyah and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla in the 90's Godzilla series...which were all some of the best Godzilla movies. If you are one of those people, like me, who found those 3 movies great but the ones in-between so-so, and didn't really know why, well now you do.

Review: Hmmm, how should I descibe this movie awesome, fantastic, horrible [had you there didn't I.] Godzilla had an awesome theme and so did Megaguirus [did I spell that right?] Megaguirus has some cool attacks but the only official one is by putting her stinger in Godzilla [OOOOUCH!!] and sucking his energy. Now for the summary. Five years after Godzilla attacked Osaka [for that good old plasma energy!],Japanese scientists have developed a new weapon[DIMENSION TIDE.] During testing an egg gets in the way and develops into a Meganula,then the meganula give their energy ALL their energy to the Meganula queen,Megaguirus[a giant dragonfly?I know it's embarassing] and needs to steal Godzilla's energy to survive.Can Godzilla defeat the evil Megaguirus, or will Megaguirus be crowned as new King[I mean Queen] of the?
