Summary: PLAYTIME'S OVER BOY
Review: All the other reviews have really covered this film. Ill just say its long been a favorite even if its a little dated. The final battle between Bruce-leroy and SHO-nuff(I love that name)is one to behold as both fighters reach the final level ,although at different degrees. With body parts glowing and sparks aflyin they wage war to the pleasant but hokey end.

Summary: good corny 80's fun
Review: Its just a fun movie, sure its corny but that is just part of its charm. The fight scenes are excellent and the leading man and lady are drop dead gorgeous. What's not to like?

Summary: Real classic kung fu!
Review: The movie was so good that I had to watch three times a day. The effect might be a little off but it all works out in the end. I would like to tell the whole story but you have to see to believe it.

Summary: One Cool 80's Martial Arts Flick
Review: I remember the first time I saw this film and even though the acting is not first rate, the fighting sequences are. But, call me silly, I love the dialogue. I mean, come on, Sho Nuff, the Sho-gun of Harlem. CLASSIC!! And Sho Nuff calling him Bruce Leroy, another great line. Plus Vanity is looking oh so scrumptous. Despite what other reviewers say, I think the music works find for the film, especially the song, You are the Last Dragon during the final fight scene. And was the acting really that bad for a film of this caliber? We have seen worse acting in other martial arts films and besides, martial arts film are about the martial arts and not the acting. Every time this film comes on, I watch it. It is one of those guilty pleasure and I am glad I decided to buy the DVD. I haven't found too many people who hated the film. It sure beats trying to figure out a Woody Allen picture. Anyway, The Last Dragon is all about having fun and it was one of Berry Gordy's first productions, and everyone can forgive first productions. I just find a certain amount of joy in this one. Thats just my view. Enjoy!

Summary: "I'm looking for LEROY!!!!"
Review: This movie is too funny! It came out right before Vanity turned her life around and became a Christian..putting the music industry behind her for good. This will be the final time you'll ever see her dressed up, made up, and having that flirtatiousness about her. Who could ever forget Eddie Arcadian and his protege singing "dirty books...i found 'em, i found 'em." The Debarge did a song call "rhythm of the night" really the family haven't put a song out TOGETHER since this. I've always wondered why, because they had so many big hits. Taimak this was his last performance in a movie, he did Janet Jackson's video "let's wait awhile" and was never seen again. Even "Cockroach" from the Cosby show was in this movie. He was one of Leroy's brother's friend, this same guy played as a regular on "martin". "Rudy" which is Keisha Knight-Pulliam played Leroy's little sister. So you can see this was an all star cast. Think you've got a good DVD collection...you don't unless you have this movie.

Summary: Catchin' bullets with his teeth???
Review: "The Last Dragon" is on the very short list of movies that are as much fun to watch when you're older as they as they were when you were a kid. I remember being a kid and imitating every move Leroy and Sho'Nuff made during the fight scenes (don't pretend you didn't)
Watching it now from a filmmaking standpoint, it is actually a really well made movie, with very well done effects, choreography and fight scenes. And it's absolutly hilarious. I think the combination of Sho'Nuff and Eddie Arcadian may be the most over-the-top villians in movie history, but it works perfectly for this film as the whole tone is over-the-top comedy. On his surprisingly good commentary track, the director says that he basically wanted to put cartoonish characters in a real life setting and just see what happened. A cult classic that is a cult classic in the best since of the word happened. Recommended to anybody for laughes and action together. REmember the Barge? Oh you will after this one....

Summary: Bruce Leroy? Who's the master?
Review: I love this movie. Yeah, it's totally 80's and totally a knock on races. But it's entertaining! The typical 80's movie, back when it wasn't about the money but the enjoyment value. The story is about a young black man who becomes a karate master, ala Bruce lee. You will love it. Look for cameos by the kid who went on to have his own karate show back in the day, he kicks butt!

Summary: The Last Dragon
Review: THE LAST DRAGON was one of my favorite new age martial arts flicks. It was funny, there was a lot of great martial arts action and it was in general a good movie.

It's about "Bruce" Leroy Green, a top notch martial arts expert in Harlem. While training for the final level (the master level), he gets stops a kidnapping and now finds himself in trouble with an underground crime syndicate run by Eddie Arcadian, the Arcade King. While botching Arcadian's plans, he also runs into another problem, Sho-Nuff the Shogun of Harlem and he's not playing around. He wants to prove that he's the greatest and not Leroy. It's up to Leroy to protect the girl (Vanity), stop Eddie Arcadian and his gang and defeat Sho-Nuff, while trying to reach the Final Level in his training.

I have to say, out of all of the other cult classic films this is one of my favorites (right behind ROCKY HORROR of course). The action in this movie is phenomenal and the choreography is very good as well. The fight scene between Leroy and Arcadian's gang is awesome! And how could you forget the final fight scene between Leroy and Sho-Nuff.

I had one problem with this movie, the soundtrack. Parts of the soundtrack were good and a lot of it was bad (ex: "Sukiyaki Hot" and "The Glow"). I give it up that this movie was made in the 80's but this movie was the brainchild of Motown Records mogul Barry Gordy. So why is it that the soundtrack ate in some parts? In any case, the action in this movie made up big time for the bad soundtrack. And of course how do you go wrong with a little comedy? There's no real big laughs, but there are some laughs nonetheless.

Check out THE LAST DRAGON. If you've never seen it, you might be surprised. This was straight up the cult classic martial arts movie in the 80's. Perfect example of that was Busta Rhymes' video for "Dangerous". After 10+ years of the release of the movie, it's still around and people still talk about it.
