Summary: What an amazing film - Especially on DVD.
Review: Two of the greatest actors ever, what more can be said, except BUY it, watch it, then watch it again and again and again.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very technically accurate
Review: I am writing this review to praise - once again - the film's amazing technical accuracy. I also find the movie to be a very well done drama but it is in the technical details that the movie excels. I've been in the U.S. Army for over seven years now and I've recieved a fair amount of live ammo training with M16's, all types of machine guns, grenades etc. And I have fired these weapons not only on qualification ranges but in team level live fire tactical exercises as well. The sound was dead on in HEAT. Gunfire is deafening and it physically hurts as well. The concussive effect on ones eardrums has to be experienced but this movie comes as close as technically possible. If you pay close attention during the bank robbery sequence you'll see several civilians holding their hands over their ears - nice touch.Much has been written about the actor's skill in handling their weapons and I can't add anything to those observations. Micheal Mann has always had his actors coached in realistic firearms handling techniques going back to THIEF with James Cann in 1981. I've read that Mann is a gun collector and an accomplished marksman. I don't know if that is true but he shows a real dedication to showing them used accurately. My father is a retired state trooper (Idaho) and he feels that the portrayal of cops is on the mark - given dramatic liscence of course. And so I have to give the movie five stars because of its superb attention to details. And that isn't bad because Michael Mann's films have always used dramatic realism as a device not substance. Unfortunly in his newest movie "The Insider" I think he may be trying to change that. Instead he should find himself a nice little suspense story and make that.

Summary: A must see for Deniro and Pacino fans!
Review: What can be said? Robert Deniro and Al Pacino with an outstanding supporting cast of Val Kilmer, Jon Voigt and Ashley Judd. This movie will grab you and pull you in. You will not realize that three hours slipped away until it's over and you look at the clock. The downtown L.A. shootout scene is the best shootout scene I have seen. The audio (in Dolby 5.1) and camera shots bring an intense realism that will keep you on the edge of your sofa. Jon Voigt may have given his best performance in Heat.

Summary: SPECTACULAR BEST GUN SHOTS CRIME MOVIE EVER
Review: The casts performances, the director, all the production crews and the story are brilliant !!! Robert De Niro's cool face in this movie is really fabulous, Val Kilmer's look by holding M16 shooting strongly against cops is the most attractive part that I fully enjoy viewing numerous times !! What a thrill to have my Dolby 5.1 audio systems producing the real true gun shots sounds with bullets flying everywhere over !

Summary: Pacino and De Niro Finally Together
Review: "Heat" is an amazing movie. Robert De Niro gives one of his best performances. Many memorable moments and plot twists, with great acting by the whole cast, and an understated part by Val Kilmer. A must see.

Summary: Unlike most movies you see in modern cinema
Review: What "Heat" does is uncanny. It emits an almost palpable level of intensity that draws you into it. Most action dramas harp mostly on the action scenes, but this has the acting and the action both in the foreground. DeNiro is superb! An intoxicating depiction of what it's like to live the lives of a cold, focussed, yet practical professional thief, as well as that of a dedicated cop. Highly recommended!

Summary: De Niro on his Best!!
Review: Do you want to see Robert De Niro on his best? Don't buy Casino or Goodfellas. HEAT is the only Film that shows you the best De Niro you ever have seen in your live

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of the best action movies ever
Review: Often I come away from a movie feeling cheated that they cut the story line to fit into the attention span of an eighth grade viewer, Heat allows the plot and characters to be fully explored. You might have expected to see a little story and one or two significant scenes, instead there is a fully told tale with many memorable incidents. The sound is fantastic, the shoot-out scenes in downtown LA have an audio quality that I had never experienced before. The attention to detail is outstanding. I have waited for this DVD ever since I first saw the movie.

Summary: Like drinking a shot of your favorite liquor......
Review: this movie gives you that combined feeling of satisfaction and "give me more" ! i can't get enough of Deniro and Pacino, and the rest of the cast is great. A very very cool movie, full of style and scenes/dialogue you will be re-enacting over and over again.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Michael Mann isn't quite the man....
Review: The main problem with this movie is that it is too long: all the key events in the movie are stretched too far in between. I realize that the director most likely wanted to present an uber-realistic 3 hours of an epic story, which would also explain the lackluster and ho-hum dialogue. If the director only cut more of the fat, HEAT could have been a worthy addition to the crime-noir genre rather than a see-saw ride from peaks of non-stop firefights to sedative dialogue.
