Summary: Riveting
Review: Immediate Classic. The action is and sound is the best that I have ever seen. AP and RD are explosive on the screen. Worth every penny. The street get-away seen will never be duplicated on the screen.

Summary: I've been waiting for this DVD for a long time.
Review: If crime drama is your thing, then Heat is an absolute must-buy for your collection. Being three hours long, there is a lot of plot and character development. The sound and picture quality on the DVD is nothing short of amazing, from the mind-blowing shootout scene to the subtle music. The acting is phenominal, but that's to be expected -- Robert De Niro and Al Pacino in the same movie? How can you NOT get this DVD.

Summary: Great movie, sound is a bit off
Review: Can't add much else to this movie after reading the other reviews except 1. The final leg chase is totally realistic; if someone was chasing you with a gun you'd be surprised how far you could run :) 2. The gun play scenes are also realistic; as demonstrated by those 2 bank robbers in CA a while back. 3. The sound is just a hair off from the lip movement in some parts of the DVD but only briefly, a MUST BUY MOVIE for any action fan.

Summary: Slow, Unbelievable and not worth purchasing
Review: I bought this DVD based upon comments on Amazon. Pacino and DeNiro put in fine performances in an otherwise slow moving movie. The movie would have received possibly 2 or 3 stars if it weren't for the unbelievable shooting scenes, which I found an insult to a persons intelligence. The plot was reasonable just too slow, and certainly not worth purchasing.

Summary: An Intelligent And Thrilling Film.
Review: Michael Mann is one of the greatest of all directors. He brings incredible style and vision to the screen. This is best seen in his masterpiece of a cop thriller: "Heat." The film is thrilling, action-packed and fantastically written. The plot is complex and intriguing. The characters are well-written and interesting and hold the film up by themselves. The cinematography is rich and the entire film is wonderfully stylish. "Heat" is a skillfull movie that never makes us loose interest. Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro give great performances that rank among their best. There are moments of great tension and drama that ignite the screen. This is one of the best cop thrillers ever made.

Summary: DeNiro and Pacino- What more can you ask for!
Review: Two film legends face-off in this intense, emotion-laden crime drama. This movie is not a superficial action film, but an intimate look at the interwoven lives of a cop (Pacino) and a high stakes bank robber (DeNiro). Although the 2 characters are on opposite sides of the law, they discover in the course of their cat-and-mouse game that they have more similarities, personally and professionally, than differences. This realization comes to life in a powerful coffee-house scene where Pacino and DeNiro have a heart-to-heart conversation of sorts. Watch this classic Pacino-DeNiro scene closely and LISTEN to the dialogue! In some ways, a strange brotherhood-like bond develops between the two.

Although Heat is a drama, producer Michael Mann does display, arguably, the MOST exhilarating shootout scene in movie history on the streets of downtown Los Angeles. The flurry of automatic gunfire is a violent, physical manifestation of the emotions between the protagonist and antagonist. Not to be overlooked in this movie are the strong supporting characters played by Val Kilmer, Ashley Judd, Jon Voight, Natalie Portman (not a typo!), and Tom Sizemore.

See this film at all costs!

Summary: PERHAPS TEH BEST STREET ACTION MOVIE EVER!
Review: Although this film is kinda long it is by far the best and most thrilling action movie i've ever seen.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: good job
Review: Heat is an action/drama movie. Directed and written by Michael Mann in 1995. I think that this is a good film, which is worth 3 stars. It could have been an excellent one if it was a bit shorter. In fact it's a 170 minutes movie with too much subplots and only few action scenes (but great ones).

NeilMcCauley, played by Robert De Niro, is a master thief, who has only one rule in life: Don't get attached to anything in life that you can't walk out in thirty seconds flat when you feel the heat around the corner. Vincent Hanna, played by Al Pacino, is a supersmart detective with a troubled family life. Vincent became obsessed with catching McCauley and his gang while they're preparing a challenging bank robbery. The two characters figure out that they are too focused on their job and don't have a normal life, but they love that and won't change it. They are kind of similar while their jobs are antagonists.

The Acting is simply outstanding. Pacino is experienced and very intuitive while De Niro is cool and intelligent, depending on reason rather than instinct. The bank robbery is an excellent scene. It seems so real. However, the scene, which I like most, is the one in the coffe shop, where the two stars meet for the first time, where they discuss about their lives, jobs and "devotion". This scene brings a particular level of excitement without resorting to action. You can feel the acting power.

I don't think this movie is for children, however some teenagers and especially adults should appreciate it, but not those who dislike violence. Cinematography and music especially suit the ambiance of the film, and the script is very intelligent, mostly realistic.

As a conclusion, I think this film is a bit long, but it's never boring. It's worth three hours of your time. I recommend it to any action/crime movie lovers, Mafia movie lovers or anyone who loves good movies.

Summary: Intelligent
Review: I have lost count of the number of times I've watched HEAT (vhs, letterbox). Two creative intellects, one good, one evil, battle each other. Both Hanna and McCauley are believable, powerful characters, as are the subordinate and supporting characters. It is a dark story, but quite well told.

Summary: Wow.
Review: Gee,

What can I say?

Almost 4 years this movie released and I still love to watch it. The gunfight scene is cool, lack of usual Hollywood silly add ons and the acting of the characters is good. Al Pacino is a bit overacting but considering his circumstances, it is hardly suprising.

My only minor complaint is the female characters is bit lacked in depth but heck this movie is about cop and robber story not female bonding. All in all, one of the classic movie.
