Summary: Oh, YEAH!!!
Review: There is very good reason that today's modern-day movie theatre has gigantic screens and state-of-the-art surround sound systems: movies like this one. Pearl Harbor makes Titanic look like a fender-bender. And then there is the sound. Oh, good God. For anyone who likes vintage aircraft or even engines in general, the sound generated by the planes in this flick is unparalleled. I have to see this movie again, if just to hear the roar of the Mitsubishi A6M2, Curtis P-40's, Supermarine Spitfires, and the Bf-109's. Someone did thier homework as far as engine sounds go. It sounded like the Dayton Air Show only louder. Now, the actual storyline takes the viewer from rural Tennessee, through New York, the skies above the English Channel, and finally to the Pacific. I wouldn't go so far as to call this a real deep, philosophical tale of two men and a woman, but it does fill the time in between the aerial stunt shots. Okay, perhaps I underrate the significance of the plot to this spectacle. Suffice it to say there is a good storyline here and the delivery is flawless. This movie has something for everyone, except maybe the critics who have forgotten the real reason one buys a ticket to a movie of this stature. If you are one of these, go see Blow or maybe that Brigitte Fonda Diary thing. This ain't no drama flick with Russell Crowe. This is a Memorial Day blockbuster made for the reason the holiday was created: to take you back to that era and to understand what it may have been like to be there. It does it's part to remind us of what took place sixty years ago, and in a way closer to art than a documentary. If you want to see an entertaining interpretation (the reason for big-screens and THX) see this movie. If you want the facts, and nothing but the facts, stay home and watch The History Channel.

Summary: Pearl Harbor
Review: This is a must-see movie. It is generally historically accurate and the three hours pass quickly. The movie reminds us of the sacrifice of the men and women who served and died so I can sit here and write this review. The love story is well done, but the actual bombing scenes steal the show. Those of us who love action may get a little impatient with the set up scenes; locale, military procedure, characters, etc., at the beginning of the movie, but it's worth the wait. The movie does make it clear that we were caught with our pants down and should have paid attention to certain events and seen it coming. But it also makes it clear that we were not at war with Japan and since we lacked the sophisticated satellite, computer information, etc. we've become so accustomed to, we could not accurately track troop and/or fleet movements. It's hard to put yourself back to a time when there were no "eyes in the sky" and radar was considered state of the art technology. I was also glad that the bad language was not overly offensive, although an x-Navy friend said that there would have been a lot more cursing in real life. The sex is at a minimun and not graphic. In my opinion, every American should see this movie, especially the young people out there. (I would caution parents about young children, under 13, to see it first before allowing children to see it.) We will all come away knowing more about our country and learn some history.

Summary: Pearl Harbor--''best movie I have ever seen"
Review: I saw Pearl Harbor the night it first came out. I have never been interested in wars or learning about them. I have always took the wars for granted and thought they meant nothing really. Pearl Harbor has totally changed my whole life and has really taught me a lot. This is the best movie I have ever seen in my whole entire life. I especially love the romantic twist with Ben Affleck and Josh Hartnett~~they are sooooo HOT(4 real) and Kate Beckinsale did such and good job. All the actors did an outstanding performance and they should be in more movies to come. Especially Josh Hartnett and Ben Affleck. I strongly suggest anyone and everyone out there to go see Pearl Harbor...and be prepared to cry..so take a couple tissues :)

Summary: Excellent Pearl Harbor Movie
Review: I just saw Pearl Harbor last night, and I think it was an exceptionally good movie. I loved the scenes (fields, sunrises, sunsets, etc.) The bombing scenes were so real. It made me feel like I was there with such intensity. It was incredible! The plot was painfully good. Great Memorial Day movie!

Summary: I LOVED IT DESPITE MYSELF!
Review: When my wife asked me to go see this film on Saturday night, I argued vehemently against it, citing the horrible reviews in particular, and the long playing time (3 hours). As it started, I was extremely cynical at nearly every scene. As the movie played itself out however, I fell into it, and was moved by both the love triangle and the incredible cinematography. At the end, I had to admit to my wife that this was a GREAT film, not 5 stars, but 4 1/2 to be sure. On the ride home, my wife reminded my about my disdain for the portentious film review clique and their bias towards films that the general public generally does not care for. In short, don't listen to the reviewers, go see this film!

Summary: A good movie but not GREAT
Review: I read an earlier review that said "Be an hour late and still see the best part of the movie". In some ways I think the first part of the movie was the best. You simply have to see the entire movie. The attack on Pearl Harbor had too many computer graphics. If you took a Star Wars Movie and replace the space props with WWII props you would have essentially the same battle. The Doolitle raid to end the movie was done very well. Go see this movie as just that - a movie. It is not a documentary.

Summary: a good movie
Review: Every critic said it was not worth seeing because, it doesn't give a lot of facts...I believe that... the movie ws just like Titanic... Titanic was 3 hours and 14 mins and Pearl Harbor was 3 hours and 5 mins. The whole first 2 hours, it was a bout a love triangle between Rafe(Ben), Danny(Josh), and Evelyn(Kate). Which was good, i just thought that the girl was a slut and the guys were stupid. And I don't care if your best friend has died, you don't make a move on his women, I don't care how loney you get. And the sence with [Japan] boming Pearl Harbor, it had great speical effects! I thought it could have been alittle more detailed...But it was still an awsome movie, but the ending was kind of perdictible, ... I thought the movie was really good and I know it will brake out the record of 90.2 million for Jurissic Park for opening Morial Day weekend....well later

Summary: Sorry--Tried to be something its not! Came up too short.
Review: Director Michael Bay attempted to make his "Great All American Epic Film" but failed. For one thing, the movie is TOO LONG. The overlong overdrawn romance aspect could've been written more tightly without all the fluff. Today's movie audiences are much too intelligent to be lead by the hand the way director Michael Bay did with the "connect-the-dots" routine of laying the groundwork for the romance. We get it already okay. Lets move on please Mr. Director. And yes I was totally blown away by the actual Pearl Harbor attack what with the realistic-looking CGI effects, but I suspect this movie being under the auspices of the "Disney" corporation, director Michael Bay had to exercise some restraint in portraying the total horror of the attack (no grisly blood-letting or bodily dismemberments) thereby in doing so, the director short-changed the audience in experiencing how war can be truly horrific and hopeless. Consequently, the attack on Pearl Harbor depicted in this film seemed more like an exercise in showing how to blow things up rather than being truly shocking & gut-wrenching like the more memorable Normandy invasion scene in "Saving Private Ryan". Director Michael Bay's talents as a director lie in crafting slick fast action movies not poignant heart-touching epic films. And it shows in this movie. "Pearl Harbor" could've been better if only the director had a better tighter story and didn't acquiesce to the wishes of his superiors(Disney).

Summary: Much Better Than Expected
Review: The secret to enjoying Pearl Harbor is to go in with very little expectations...that's what I did and I found myself pleasantly surprised. I thought this movie would be awful because it was made by Michael Bay and Ben Afflek (who came together to do the worst movie ever--Armageddon) but the acting wasn't bad (but please stop giving Afflek southern accents) Kate Beckinsale is a much better actress than her counterpart in Armageddon, Liv Tyler. They did the best they could at attempting to have Evelyn fall in love with both of the male stars and look believable. This movie can be separated into 3 acts: Evelyn falling in love with Raef and Danny, the attack on Pearl Harbor and the subsequent attack by the Americans Act I gets 3 stars for being too long Act II gets 4 stars for it's breathtaking special effects Act III gets 2 stars cause it seemed as though they just threw in whatever ending they could find. Room for improvements: more Cuba Gooding Jr.(I almost forgot he was in the movie) have the Japanese look more like humans rather than heartless stone-cold fighting machines, more history/less story This was your typical Hollywood fare, but can be enjoyable.
