Summary: Commentary is a Must!
Review: If you just bought The Complete Quest, be sure to watch both films with audio commentary. I don't know how it is possible to watch both of these movies with no commentary. Plus, Arnold is so hilarious, you won't even believe it. I felt that "Barbarian" was so slow it just did not grasp my attention through out the film. With the audio, you will most surely appreciate different aspects of the film. I do commend the great photography and editing. But i assure you that you will most definitely enjoy the commentary. "Skull! Dead People"! -Arnold

Summary: Booklet Missing
Review: In response to the last reviewer, I did not get anything in the lefthand sleeve either. I bought this set and there was no booklet in the lefthand side, though there was a sleeve for it. I brought it back for another one, and the replacement had no booklet either. Did the company producing this DVD change their minds about putting something in the sleeve, or did I get two bum copies in a row? The one star rating is because of the negligent packaging...the movies were fine.

Summary: no booklet
Review: It seems that you do not get a booklet with the DVD.
These movies are great. the first is of course better than the second but they are works of art. would have preferred 2 dvds rather than one but c'est la vie.

Summary: Destroyer is Non-Anamorphic, Send a Message
Review: Pick up the individual Conan the Barbarian SE release, but don't support this lame packaging of that disc with a non-anamorphic release of Conan the Destroyer. I was excited about picking this up, but declined once I realized that Destroyer was not enhanced for widescreen televisions. Would it have killed the studio? What a disappointment.

Summary: Quite a pointless set.
Review: The "Barbarian" DVD is just the same as the previous, widely available (at least in R2/R4) Special Edition. This one just repeats it.

The "Destroyer" disc in this set is even worse - just the film. Meanwhile, I'm watching my R4 DVD of "Conan the Destroyer", with two commentaries, two documentaries, storyboards, galleries and extra information about Howard's most famous creation.

Avoid this R1 set.

Summary: I can't wait for the new movie, Conan goes to Nease
Review: This is an excellent example of American movie making and the general intellect of the country. We should be proud! Of course, with Arnold busy these days, the new movie, Conan Goes To Nease, will star Buff Biondom who really gives Arnold a run for his money... especially when he lifts an entire portable building (complete with a ramp for the disabled) and crushes a statue of Ponce DeLeon, four and a half miles away. Co starring Scott Bebe, as the dreaded nemesis, the Borester, whose very voice puts people into a coma. Sadly (or gladly), in the final scene, Conan 's daughter wipes out an entire herd of deer and KNF dies - pass the corn.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Mono sound?
Review: Upon receipt and inspection of the package, it appears both of these movies are presented in 2.0 mono sound. WTF?

After researching (just now, between these two sentences) it would appear the new special edition of Barbarian is also in mono (someone said it was 1.0 mono)... hrm. That is too bad. You would think they would be able to make a decent sound package for this since they went through the trouble to fix up the visual clarity.

Anyway, I'm giving this 4 stars just because it is frickin Conan and Conan ROCKS! All it needs is an improved sound suite and it would be at 5 stars.
