Review: When Harry Potter came to the big screen, I did NOT go to see it. I was of firm standing that it was kidd stuff. Then, a few weeks ago, the people on abc2 news had it on as a "movie event". I figured since it was free, why not watch it? Needless to say, I was realllyyy surprised. I sat, spellbound through ALL commercial breaks, so I would'ent miss any of the story. I've never read a single book in the series, so I can say with out them, this movie still can stand on it's own. P.S. John Williams' score is amazeing!!!! P.S.S. Still, I will say that "The Lord of the Rings" are much better movies, and if you LIKE Harry Potter, You'll LOVE them.

Review: Words Can't express just how aweful these movies are compared to the books. I have been a Harry potter fan almost since the begining. The books have and continue to be a beautiful source of inspiration for me. But the films fall utterly short of even mediocre. I understand that there must be changes when a book is adapted for film but too many vital complex characters, such as Hagrid and Ron, are reduced to one-dimensional comic relief. Every character lost at least one-dimension - even harry. I felt that if I hadn't read the book I probably wouldn't understand the movie.
Not is only a horrible adaptation, it is horrible as a film. The actors feel as if they're either trying to hard, or don't know what they're doing. Daniel Radcliff has to gasp before every line! The corniness was almost too much to bear. I felt embarressed for the actors.
The special effects sucked. The troll in the girls bathroom should have at least looked convincing. The trees in the forbidden forest were too far apaart to be menacing.
I will say though, that Argus Filch the caretaker was portrayed beautifully. The one star I give this film is for him.

Summary: Fantastic Film for any Fan
Review: I love this movie! Chris Columbus did an excellent job directing it and was able to capture the spirit of the book. He really spiced up the Quidditch match by adding some exciting scenes and good computer graphics. John Williams composed good music that you just don't get tired of hearing. Richard Harris plays the part of Professor Dumbledore perfectly. He has a look in his eyes just like Dumbledore has in the book. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint make a great trio and each performs the character's part well. I was a bit disappointed with Hogwarts because it didn't look entirely realistic. Even if you haven't read the book you can still easily follow the plot. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is a movie I am sure anyone would enjoy, fan or not.

Review: Harry Potter, the first of the series, has a full story line all its own, along with other story-lines such as Hermoine, Ron, and the terrifying Professor Snape. All of those people describe the body of Harry Potter, which leads to the surprise ending. You will never guess the ending that's ahead of you.

Summary: Harry Soars...
Review: This is the first in the Harry Potter Movie series...it is also one of the best ones! I was just amazed by the job that this movie is so close to the book (which is excellent!). I realize that you either hear really good reviews of Harry Potter or really bad reviews...there really isn't much of an in-between. I am a Harry Potter lover turned into one from one who wouldn't even touch the books. But before this movie came out I decided to go into the hype and was happy when I saw this movie!

Harry is living with his Aunt and Uncle Dursley...and it is now time for Harry to start wizard school so Hogwarts sends Harry letters but Uncle Vernon doesn't want any of it! So he keeps destroying the letters but in the end Hogwarts wins and Hagrid comes and takes Harry with him. When he goes to school he is introduced to Hermione and Ron and they all become best friends. They are also introduced to many of the other characters who will play a role in the movie and book. Harry is always in trouble but rarely causes the trouble. It tends to follow him. He is also fighting to keep away from Lord Voldemort because he is the one who killed his parents. But he can not stay alone for long. Also some of the professors are fishy acting (watch to find out!) and in the end the professor who is after the Sorcerer's Stone is not who you think!

This movie is great for young and old and is a movie that will keep you intrigued from beginning until the end!

Summary: A magical movie the whole family will enjoy
Review: What a sensational family movie! Daniel Radcliffe stars as Harry, a rather pitiful orphan, who lives with his mean aunt and uncle. On his 11th birthday, Harry discovers he is a wizard and happily leaves home for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There, he makes his first-ever pals - classmates Ron and Hermione, and their friendship is the heart of the story. We follow the trio as they go through their first year at school attending magic classes, finding adventure, and even solving a mystery that puts Harry face-to-face with the dark wizard who killed his parents.

Radcliffe captures the innocence and sadness of Harry, as well as his daring-do and sense of fun. Rupert Grint, as his sidekick Ron, delivers most of the comedy lines and is very appealing. Emma Watson plays Hermione with a heart of gold underneath her bookish bossiness. They are supported by a stellar cast of British character actors, including Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman. There is lots of action, fun special effects, and some sweet, poignant moments as well.

All ages can enjoy this movie, even if you haven't read the book. It's wholesome family entertainment that will leave you feeling good and looking forward to the next film in the series.

Review: My then 4 & 5 yr old girls and I stumbled upon this on TV one day - and watched intently to the end! It captivated all of us!

Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) learns that he is the son of 2 wizards and has powers of his own. Harry sets off for Hogwart's, a school where young witches and wizards learn witchcraft and wizardry. There he meets and befriends Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermoine (Emma Watson). The three of them are great together! We watch their adventures as the 3 of them learn different spells and how to use their wands and broomsticks. Some of the rest of the cast; Alan Rickman as Snape, the Potions Master, the late Richard Harris as Dumbledoor, the Dean of the school, Maggie Smith as Macgonagall, and Robbie Coltrane as Hagrid, the friendly, giant like, lover of strange animals who also befriends the kids.

Harry learns how his parents died and then faces the very evil Valdemort, who tried to kill Harry when he was a baby, leaving a scar on his forehead. Harry and his friends keep the Sorcerer's Stone safe from evil and the ride along the way is brilliantly done with special effects! There is one VERY real game of chess played - magnificently orchestrated and will keep you on the edge of your seat!

I don't want to give it all away! This is an excellent movie for kids and adults alike! I recommend it fully!

Review: On its Disney Channel premiere last Friday, I only watched the opening studio logo and the opening shot at Privet Drive. Then I turned on the news instead--and that was it. (The same thing happened whenever HBO had it.)

Everything in the Potter franchise is so full of witchcraft that it is only enough for Christians like me to turn on something else. If morals are what you're looking for when it comes to good family entertainment, then please settle down with Care Bears, Lord of the Rings or Finding Nemo wherever you can find them!

I didn't even bother watching the Chamber of Secrets--and hence, nor will I watch Azkaban, nor read any of the Rowling books in my lifetime again.

Summary: Not as good as the book
Review: It is an ok movie to watch but if you read the books it's not that great. I'm okay about leaving little things out of the book, but this is too much. Because they cut out all the enjoyable parts of the book, like the midnight duel, when Harry and Hermione take Baby Norbert to the north tower, the potions logic challenge, etc. And where has Neville gone, he was very present in the book but not in this movie. The special affects are very bad compared to other movies too. What I'm trying to say is if you have never read the book you will probably find this enjoyable (because even with some of the most enjoyable scenes missing it is still has got some enjoyable parts) but if you read the book you will always prefer the book than this movie, it will still be enjoyable for you but you will always prefer reading the books. This is also not the kind of movie that you can watch again and again. It can get boring in a few times of watching.
