Summary: five stars says it all
Review: i agree with many of the reviews before mine, _great_ fantasy movie although i'm a little disappointed that ridley scott left out so much of the original scenes in the american version. having only seen this version i cannot imagine what the european version will be like. if any one can tell me where to purchase a copy of the european vesion (please)i would greatly appreciate it. though i will have to argue that tangirine dream did the soundtrack fairly well and since i've know only the american version since i was little i will most likly be partial to it.

Summary: This movie stole my heart from the very first scene....
Review: This film starring Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, and masterful actor, Tim Curry is a true masterpiece....This (to me) is Tim Curry's strongest role. He blends, true satanic description with an all star makeup costume. I think he deserved an award for this. I have the soundtrack, and it is magnificent. The floating flower pedals in the first couple of scenes, are truely magical. The unicorns are absolutley stunning, and Mia Sara and Tom Cruise show a love that is stronger than any one else has displayed in movie history! TIM CURRY's best role, with out him this movie propbaly would have lost about four stars, because the actors don't really have good development scenes, and they should have....

Summary: A unique, visually stunning fantasy film.
Review: I have seen Legend 286 times since its cinema release and it would have to be one of the most visually arresting fantasy films that I have ever seen. The European version is my favourite, as it is slightly longer and doesn't suffer from Tangerine Dream's terrible score. Jerry Goldsmith on the other hand contributes a glorious, sumptuous score that perfectly suits the pastoral and dreamy landscape. The film's strength lies in its strong design aesthetic, the meticulously created forest landscape is one of the most realistic indoor set designs that I have ever seen. The costumes and especially the make-up effects are truly wonderful. The film has been heavily critised for its simple story line and weak characters, but I find that the style more than compensates for this. My favourite scenes are when Lili and Jack are in the forest at the beginning, the floating feathers and flower petals create a magical atmosphere. My other favourite scene is when Lili is seduced by the wraith-like black dress, and when Darkness is seen coming through the mirror. The film is one of those rare examples of style holding everything together, creating a magical, haunting place that we all dream of.

Summary: One of the most beautiful fantasies ever made
Review: The interesting thing about Legend is that it's a movie that you never forget, lots of the scenes stay with you especially the amazing unicorns - they looked so real! My favorite part is where Jack and Lili are in the meadow - it's looks so breathtakingly beautiful. All of the scenes in this movie are very visually impressive. If you love science fiction and fantasy then you'll love Legend, The only thing that I have to warn about is that the first time I saw this movie I was nine and the parts with the Darkness really scared me! If you are going to buy this video for a young child keep in mind that it some young children may find parts of it frightening.

I wish there were more fantasy movies like Legend produced.

Summary: Great film that is underappreciated
Review: This is the type of movie that will never be popular with the masses, or gain a lot of recognition. But it is held on a pedastal for those of us who enjoy fantasy/adventure films. Ridley Scott unravels the picture at a perfect pace, and fleshes out the characters well. Mia Sara does fine in her debut, and of course Tom Cruise is good, but this film belongs to Tim Curry(and with another actor this film might not have been so great). He truly gets into the part and look like he spent 6 hours a day putting on and taking off all of that costume and makeup. Overall, pretty good story that is beautifully shot and directed well. I have heard there are 2 versions, try and get the original with Tangerine Dream on the soundtrack: goes well with the film. On a side note: since when is this film rated R? Amazon.com has it incorrectly to my knowledge, and should change that so people under 18 can buy this great film.

Summary: a great movie
Review: This is a very good fantasy that I recommend. (The info. for this movie at the top of the page says this movie is rated R but it's not, it's PG.)

Summary: Great Movie, wrong format.
Review: I love this video, and really think that it should be made available to those of us who own DVD equipment. They are much too slow in giving us older Fantasy videos in the new and better format. That is the only critizism that I have to make about the lovely movie.

Summary: Excellent film, hard to get hold of!
Review: This film is definitely the best fantasy film ever made, it combines horror love and action with a binding tale of fantasy and cannot be faulted. The acting by all the cast including Cruise and Curry is top class and if your looking for an all time classic fantasy film buy it now. However this is the hardest film I have ever known to get hold of in the UK, with the original soundtrack. You can pick up newer versions really easy but the film just isn't the same without the original 1985 motion picture soundtrack by Tangerine Dream.

Summary: classic fantasy at its best!
Review: I am a kind of fantasy film junkie, and to be frank, this one blew my socks off! This film goes right to the heart of the struggle between good and evil. this isn't a fantasy film, it's THE fantasy film! This is the role midel for all such movies, past and present. this one's right up there with Dragonheart in my book! And what's more , the makeup was incredible, even by today's standards! At first, I was scared by the absence of computer graphics. 10 minutes in I forgot all ABOUT computer graphics!!! This was a real treat!! P.S. Tim Curry was AWESOME as darkness!!!
