Summary: Great DVD - Great Sound
Review: I just read the other 34 glowing reviews of this movie and I can't say anything new about what a great movie this is. It is one of my top 2 or 3 favorite DVDs and unquestionably the best Civil War movie ever.

As far as the DVD is concerned, for picture quality and sound quality, it is almost unsurpassed. Actually, it is the most satisfying demonstration that I have found (so far) of my AC-3 stereo system. The surround sound during the battle scenes is amazing. ....

If you have just bought a DVD player and you only have $$$ for a couple of movies, Glory should be one of them.

Summary: Deeply emotional movie about the many colors of war
Review: I was first forced to watch this movie by a friend, but now I own it and watch it more frequently then I'd like to admit! This movie depicts the first black regiment of the civil war, lead by (the scrumptious) Col. Robert Shaw. Overall, if you're not a fan of war movies, you will still really love Glory. I stay away from war stuff too, but this is one of my all-time favorites. PS: Ladies, the cast is NICE! ;-)

Summary: An inspirational tribute to all Civil War soldiers.
Review: "Glory" is an outstanding film which should be seen not only by those interested in Civil War history, but by anyone who is moved by true accounts of bravery and grim determination. It was not until I first saw "Glory" in the theater, that I truly knew what it was like to be kept on the edge of my seat. The final attack on Battery Wagner was the most intense theater-going experience of my life, and I found myself moved to tears by the noble deeds of the men of the 54th Massachusetts Volunteers. As a Civil War re-enactor I can vouch for the historical accuracy and authenticity of this fine film... it reminds me of why I re-enact. "Glory" pays tribute to the men who paid the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard our freedoms and preserve our union. My 13-year old son and I watch this film together, and this is a great source of pride and joy for me. Future generations must never be allowed to forget that our precious liberties came at such a high price, and that we are eternally indebted to those who paid that price on the battlefield. To Col. Shaw and the gallant men of the 54th Mass., "thank you gentlemen. Hurrah!"

Summary: A wonderful movie that everyone should see!!
Review: This has got to be one of the greatest movies of all time! Matthew Broaderick, Denzel Washington, Cary Elwes, and Morgan Freeman give an outstanding acount of the story of the 54th Mass. regiment. It is the powerful story of their bravery and their fight for freedom. The musical score is the best I've ever heard. This movie shows us their corage with the secne where Shaw (played by Broaderick) charged up the hill facing certian death. I think everyone should see this movie.

Summary: The war movie which surpasses all war movies
Review: A truly PERFECT film, "thirtysomething" director Edward Zwick's portrait of the 54th Massachusetts history-making entry into the Civil War is breaktaking in every way. If you've never seen "Glory" on the big screen, then you've never really seen it! The cinematograpy is outstanding, as are performances by Matthew Broderick and Andre Braugher (of "Homicide: Life on the Street"). The true star of the film, however, is Denzel Washington. Seeming to electrify every scene in which he appears, his performance as the angry runaway slave Trip more than deserved the Oscar it earned him. The scene is which Trip (Washington) is whipped is destined to become a classic in film history, as is the assault on Fort Wagner in the movie's climax. Also, don't underestimate the importance of a movie's score. The other stars of this film are the Boys Choir of Harlem, whom we hear throughout the film and perfectly compliment the mood sought for each scene. In short, "Glory" is my favorite film. Upon watching, it's not hard to understand why.

Summary: INCREDIBLE!
Review: This movie totally moved me and gave me a new understanding of the civil war. It is incredible sad at the end of the movie, but this is really what happens to people in war. It gives you a new sort of respect for the soldiers in the Civil War

Summary: A classic...needs 10th anniversary exposure
Review: After watching this movie, I was never prouder to have been born and lived in Massachusetts, not far from where the 54th trained. Also, the more I watch this movie, the more I'm convinced that Morgan Freeman, not Denzel Washington, should have won the Academy Award.
