Rating: Summary: The best "historical movie" I have ever seen! Review: Even though this movie may be historically incorrect, I think there was no incorrectness in the image of the early 14th century England/Scotland. The movie is a masterpiece and the greatest epic I have ever seen. Great job Mel. You know, to tell you the truth, I was a bit surprised to see such an excelent movie made by such a crazy character like Mel Gibson. I underestimated you Mel, Braveheart could only be made by a genius.
Rating: Summary: If you have ever been to Scotland you will love this movie. Review: By far, the best movie I have ever experienced. Who gives a fly rat's ace if it is historically accurate?
Rating: Summary: "Who cares if it's historically accurate?" Review: Actually, I DO care about whether Braveheart is historically accurate or not. Don't you think we owe it to Sir William himself to at least make some attempt to accurately portray his life and struggle? This film basically used this brave and intelligent man's name as an excuse to make a nasty, homophobic flick. And by the way, there are people out there who believe that this film is an absolutely truthful account of what happened - just read some of the customer comments...
Rating: Summary: A GREAT MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: I thought this movie was the best ever made. Who cares if it is true it is a great movie and deserves all of it's rewards.
Rating: Summary: This movie is great!!!!! Review: This movie is one of my all time favorites. It's amazing how many people have not heard of Sir William Wallace before this movie. I thought the director really captured the spirit of scottland.
Rating: Summary: most realistic, moving, and well made movie of all time Review: This is the greatest movie ever, it is well made, touching, realistic, romantic, and not overly graphic. This is the only movie to own, GET IT!!
Rating: Summary: It was a wonderful tragic story. Review: I thought that the acting in this movie was wonderful. The script was very well-written. It was filmed in Scotland which really gave the movie an even better look and scenery. The acting was wondereful, especially by Mel Gibson. There was some humor in there that really cracked me up. The story was very powerful and compelling. The battle scenes were brilliant, it was very realistic. The costume design was another hting that I really liked. Altogether it was my favorite movie of all time.
Rating: Summary: For being Historically correct - I have no idea..... Review: As I said, I have no idea how historically correct this movie was, and neither do any of you that are saying it was "hogwash", but what I do know is that the fight scenes were fantastic, the acting by Gibson was surprisingly good, and Patrick McGoohan was excellent. Whether the story is anywhere near the truth or not the storyline was good, and the action was fabulous - I don't really understand these silly people giving it 1 star as they know no more about what happened then, than the rest of us.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful, film at its best Review: A wonderful movie, entertaining and stirring
Rating: Summary: A thought on "historical accuracy" Review: I think people take the movies (and themselves) a little too seriously. While Braveheart may not have been historically accurate, it was intense, gripping and majestic. The choreography and special effects were amazing. It was never billed as a substitute for history and I will make a further point which is often belabored, but history taught in schools or recorded in books is never 100% true either... the movie's a romantic adaption loosely based on the past. All's fair, and I know that when I see a movie and it completely defies logic where computers/physics, etc, are concerned, I find it difficult to like, but if it's well made I try to overcome that. So maybe the history buffs/professors out there can re-think their opinion on this excellent drama.
