Rating: Summary: A Second Review of the film Review: I am reviewing this film again for the fact that while the vast majority of people enjoyed the film, a few misguided people completely misinterpreted the film. These people saw Gibson's character as blood lusting individual, who delighted in the pain and suffering of others. What they can not comprehend due to their limited imagination, and intellegence is that the much of the same tactics used by William Wallace such as ambushes and raids into enemy territory, were also used by various other millitary leaders seaking independance from an occuping force. Leaders that included George Washington, among others. Though some scenes are appallingly brutal- such as when Wallace burns a group English assasins alive in a hut- they are no less brutal than the actions of the English, who burned villages, murdered innocent civilians, and hung oppossing factions. Though some may argue that people should not kill under any circumstance, which in itself is good advice, decent people can only take so much punishment before they snap, and fight against their aggressors. It is therefore interesting to not that William Wallace tried to stay out of the conflict durring the begining of the film. Though this might not convince the Hard Line Anti-Braveheart establishment to change their view of this movie, I think my voice sit well for the vast majority of viewers, who share my opinions.
Rating: Summary: Beautifully filmed, great cast Review: A powerful story of courage, honor, and sacrifice for a great cause. Bittersweet, much in the style of recent war novels like "The Triumph and the Glory, or "War of the Rats" or The Killer Angels". (filmed as "Gettysburg" on TNT if I recall correctly) Mel Gibson is terrific in this one.
Rating: Summary: The only FILM created in the 90s. Review: I have seen many 'good' movies come of this decade, but the only one I believe is worthy of the title 'film' is Mel Gibson's BRAVEHEART. I see many people have vented their concerns about trivial garbage like 'homophobia' and other period-accurate touches that this film delivers without the usual censorship and squeamish 'need' for political correctness. The world in BRAVEHEART is very alien to the society we now live in, and some people do not seem wise enough to accept this fact. Secondly, there are many complaints regarding the historical inaccuracy of Mel Gibson's screenplay. I hope that someday these persons will realize that it is just a film and not an historical documentary. Thirdly, if you like a good plot, you will absolutely kill to see this one. Every character is convincing, the scenes (though filmed in Ireland) are stunningly beautiful, and the musical score is an absolute masterpiece. It may be impossible to watch this film with an open mind and not find yourself totally immersed in the world of William Wallace. This sole film of the 90s has my highest recommendation and endorsement. If you miss this film, you have my condolences.

Rating: Summary: A thoughtful Review from a half Scot. Review: I throughly enjoyed watching Brave Heart. Despite its blood and gore, I think it is a good example for freedom fighters around the world who try to institute democracy in place of despostism. To the accusations that the film is anti-English made by some weak minded fools: the film is not anti-English, the heroes in the film are simply responding to events in the way any of us would if our houses were burned and our relatives were slain. In one scene, for instance, William Wallace allowed nearly all of an English Regiment to surrender unscathed, so they could bring word to their masters that Scotland was not to be pillaged and burned. Blood and gore is often seen throughout the film, however, such brutality was often common place in fighting durring the middle ages. While, in our age it only takes a one nuclear missile to destroy the lives of hundreds of thousands, back then only hundreds were killed durring a battle, if it was large enough. In summary, this movie should Movie should be considered one of the best films of all time!
Rating: Summary: It's just a film, not history Review: I get slightly disturbed when I hear people take Braveheart as a serious piece of history. There's an awful lot in the film which simply isn't true. Incidentally, I live just 5 minutes away from where Wallace was captured (it wasn't in Edinburgh, contrary to the film) and I recently found in an old walker's guide to Bishopbriggs that WW supposedly threw his sword into a loch so that the English couldn't display it as a prize!
Rating: Summary: This is not just a movie it is a real film. Review: Braveheart is one of the few films that really takes you by the heart and holds on. Mel Gibson is amazing and Sophie Marceau is as beautiful an actress as she is a person. Even if you are not a war movie type of viewer, check this one out because it is about more than war. It is about love, bravery, freedom and more. There is so much sybolism, the story almost mimics society.
