Rating: Summary: Regret didn't watch it in theater Review: Many movies bring moments of emotions to the audience; this movie goes beyond that. The though of something greater than yourself lingers with you for days. It brought tears to my eyes and is the first movie inspired me to dig into historical fact. Regardless its historical accuracy (NOTE: The narrator stated in the beginning that history is written by those who hang heroes), Mel Gibson manages to bring drama, action and comedy within 3 1/2 hours. People say when you look back in life, you often see regrets of things you missed - I missed this movie on the movie screen. If you saw the movie and saw only historical inaccuracies and gender issues... you need to relearn the definition of "Movie".
Rating: Summary: Some people just don't get it... Review: As a reviewer from Scotland, can I first say that about 90% of the historical details in this film are perfectly true. The only bits that are obviously invented are Wallace's romance with the princess and the part about Robert the Bruce fighting for the English at his father's command. Edward's son was really a homosexual, the English really did kill Wallace's wife and Wallace was betrayed by a Scottish nobleman. Of course some parts are romanticised. That's what filmmaking is all about. The film itself is excellent, with fantastic performances from Gibson, McGoohan and both the female leads. The film, of course, may represent the English in a bad light, but for those of us who bother checking these things up, the events and evils perpetrated by the English are not exaggerated. The film is an epic, stirring and beautifully shot masterpiece, and although I respect that people may have other, even opposite opinions, please do not condemn this film just because of the pretentious PC lobby who hate it because the humour is drawn from a English character.
Rating: Summary: Best Fil of all time Review: This movie has everyhting in it: love, drama, comedy, and action. It is my favorite movie of all time. I WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! YOU MUST SEE IT!
Rating: Summary: Wake up Paramount! Review: This is the best movie of all time. Amazing it came from Hollywood. But Paramount, wake up, not on DVD yet? This was one of the reasons I bought a player!
Rating: Summary: Superb movie about courage and freedom Review: Mel Gibson gives an excellent performance, and the ending to this movie will suprise you. Won a Best Picture, and Best Director Oscar. (Mel Gibson also directed this movie) In my opinion, it is one of the greatest movies ever. A classic.
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest of all-time! Review: I loved it! I saw it at the movies and I bought it on tape. Since then I have seen it numerous times. Even though it is a long movie, it goes by fast. The fight scenes are spectacular, they leave you wanting more. The ending is a suprise. This is a guy movie, but also has sensitive sides for the women. Definitley see this one.
Rating: Summary: BraveHeart Review: Historically accurate or not, it touches my soul. Never have I had a movie that I could watch over and over and still feel the same feelings as if I'd just seen the movie for the first time. The musical score absolutely brings me to tears every time that I hear it. As for the movie being homophobic, it was undoubtedly how Mel saw the prince. I neither agree nor disagree with him. It made the movie that much stronger, in my opionion. One of Mel's best movies. I commend him as a director and an actor. Kudos and continue the good work....
Rating: Summary: The Best Movie Of All Time! Review: This movie needs to introduction, and needs only one word to describe it. "The Best Movie Of All Time" Mel Out did himself with an incredible plot, and the most realistic setting posible. It's 3 and 1/2 hours long, and you can't take your eyes off it for a second. If you haven't seen this movie. Your Crazy. Watch It!
Rating: Summary: A Hollywood Masterpiece Review: It seems that there are a select few who missed the entire point of the movie. For one thing, Hollywood is not in the business of producing films that have historical accuracy (Titanic, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, etc., etc., etc.). It's a business that thrives on entertaining the general public, whether it be fictionalized or not. For those who want historical accuracy, go rent a documentary or read a history book. Braveheart, by itself, is a dramatic work of art. It's quite obvious that many events and characters are fictionalized and historically inaccurate, but if viewed as a dramatic piece, it works on all levels. Sure William Wallace was a savage butcher (as viewed by the English), but he is no different from any man who fought for freedom throughout history (who are rememebered as heroes today). Braveheart is definitely a masterpiece, truly one of the best of the 90s.
