Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: This movie is amazing. I do not suggest missing it. It will touch your heart and make you realize what love is again!
Rating: Summary: keep in mind the words "artistic license" Review: This is a good film to watch if you like a medieval action flick (although why it was necessary to depict one of the "bad guys" as gay is beyond me--to give the supposed macho audience an extra reason to hate him?). It has all the makings of epics that everyone loves--undying romance, true love, revenge--you get the picture. Just remember that this is a movie, and not a history lesson. Most of the events were depicted extremely out of order. For instance, the big, bad English king didn't die until five years after Wallace was executed. The prince only married several years after his fathers' death--i.e. Wallace could never have had an affair with his wife. Even if they had met, when he died, she was approximately 13. I can understand why they changed some events. I'm sure everyone likes to think of Wallace shagging his arch-enemy's daughter-in-law, but why did they depict Robert the Bruce so weak-willed? If you get a chance, check out a biography, or even an encyclopedia entry about his life. He was every bit as much a hero as William Wallace.
Rating: Summary: This movie changed my life! Review: words would not do this movie justice. Thomas Jefferson could not fully explain how much this movie has the power to move its viewers.
Rating: Summary: Accuracy in a Movie? Are you kidding? Review: I don't know why people blast this movie for not being historically accurate. I don't think that was the intention of the movie from the start. I mean did anyone blast Shakespeare in Love for being inaccurate? Its a movie, and anyone trying to learn about history based on movies are really not right in the head to begin with IMO. Like those people who watched Malcolm X and think they know everything about him, sad. Anyway it is a great film, and though there are stereotypes, its nothing more than anyother movie. The difference for Braveheart was that one of the 'bad guys' was homosexual, and heaven forbid we portray any homosexual character in any movie as bad. Sure we can do it for the obese or white males or maybe even the old, but not homosexuals. And CERTAINLY not English, we all know how nice and loving England was back in the old days of feudalism. The point is everyone, regardless of race, creed, or whatever, is HUMAN. No one is perfect and just because you are a part of a minority doesn't make you instantly kind and gentle and loving. Anyway, as long as people realize this is just a MOVIE and not a history lesson, they can find great action and wonderful acting in this epic film.
Rating: Summary: I Crave Brave ! Review: To sum up this movie when I went to see this film at the cinema it got a standing ovation at the end from everyone including the cinema attendants. Mel struck a cord in my heart that I didn`t know existed. The bloody battles and heart-rendering speaches reached deep down into my soul. At the end when Wallace cried out "Freedom" as he was being executed I felt the coldest tear run down my now stricken face. Pride summed it all up. THE FILM IS MAGNIFICENT !
Rating: Summary: Is a good movie Review: Braveheart is a good movie. It is not factual, it does not follow any proper timeline and it can drag. Many of the one star reviews have stated that Freud would have a field day with big men sticking each other with really big swords. Well the point of a big sword is to kill somebody very quickly. One has to wonder what those that comment about big swords are thinking. Yes Edwards son is shown in a very un-flatering light. You can not cast modern values about homosexuality on a movie losely set in medieval England. Purchase Braveheart, enjoy but dont look for the bogeyman behind every sentence or scene.
Rating: Summary: A repurchase Review: Out of over 150 Laser Disks, this is 1 of only 2 that I am repurchasing on DVD. It is that moving a movie.
Rating: Summary: The best history lesson I ever had. Review: This is by far the best history lesson I ever had. The story is invigerating, the action scenes ar great, and the love story is very emotional. When I first watched this movie I thought it would be boring because it was three hours long, But when it ended I wanted more and thought it was too short. You must see this movie.
Rating: Summary: 7 stars! Review: Yes, that's right' 7 stars for one of the greatest(and my favorite) movie of all time. Not to say that it is the best movie of all time, but it is my personel favorite. As far as some people giving it 1 star, I am in complete awe. The cinemotagraphy alone makes it at least 2-3. The story is not meant to be true either. The first lines of the movie will tell you that. Plus, if you buy the book, you'll notice that it's FICTION. And yes Randell Wallace wrote the book and the screenplay. Freedom. That's what this movie is about. A commadite that a lot of people take for granted. It shows it as something far more important than life. And it is. The point at the end when Mel screams this simple word, you can't help your heart from stopping. You have to watch it. Even people that I know who hate movies set in medival(or anything closely related) time periods, like this movie.
Rating: Summary: Simply THE BEST! Review: I love this movie. It is my favorite movie. It is the BEST movie ever made. Mel Gibson is my favorite actor. My favorite part is when stephen is talking about his island. "It's MY ISLAND! " It's just the BEST film ever made. I can't say that enough. It's the BEST movie ever made!
