Summary: Classic? Oh, yes, it will be.
Review: When you first watch this picture, you will not believe your eyes or ears. This movie stays in my mind constantly! Mel Gibson in another action movie, but this time with a little more heart. Amazing scenes, wonderful costumes, awesome acting, and a great way to tell history; what more could you ask for? This movie will certainly be a classic, there is no doubt in my mind. There is so much to say about how wonderfully done this picture was that it can't all be said within the 1000 word limit! A MUST for Mel fans and action fans alike. Never will there be a movie so realistic and breath-taking as this.

Summary: Wallace! Wallace! Wallace!
Review: This movie is a fabulously entertaining drama of William Wallace's life. It draws upon my curiousity to read more Scottish history. I have seen the movie five times. Last weekend I actually saw the real Wallace Clan in Edinburgh, Scotland, during their music performance at the Fringe Festival. POWERFUL musicians as well as interesting historian. I bought The Wallace Clan music CD which is truly excellent, especially with the drums. .....

Summary: The world's first Scottish history lesson
Review: Braveheart gave the world it's first Scottish history lesson. Granted, it was not completely accurate, but it did a good job of portraying the situation. Sir William Wallace is a man who embodies the virtues of what it means to be Scottish - passionate, brave, determined, Godly, kind, and strong. Mel Gibson has produced a very remarkable film, an epic whose story will live on inside you for many years to come. - Andrew McDiarmid, producer, Simply Scottish Radio

Summary: Awesome!
Review: Along with some of the Lethal Weapon movies and Payback, this ranks among Mel Gibson's best movies. If you like action, if you like adventure and if you like a truely awesome story, then I would recommend this movie. It tends to be a little bloody at times but it adds to the excitement. Don't miss out, buy it today. This is a movie that appeals to men and women, it has tons of action and comedy, and for the ladies a love story that will make you and your date cry.

Summary: Every Man Dies...but, not every man Truly Lives !
Review: This is one of my favorite movies and one of the most well-produced on the market. I recommend reading "Born In Blood: The Lost Secrets of Freemasonry," (John J. Robinson).... If you want the rest of the story.

Mel Gibson does the memory and Legacy of William Wallace Justice and I cannot imagine the other important characters in this historical movie played by others. This movie is very well casted.

Summary: MEL's greatest performance
Review: This movie is simply awesome. Can't imagine how Mel was able to direct and star in this epic of a film, and maintain it, in all it's glory.

I was lucky enough to see the dvd all ready. The sound is sensational, not to mention the insightful commentary by Gibson.

Without a doubt this is a must, for all movie lovers.

Summary: Artistic Licence
Review: Braveheart is an excellent movie which achieves its goal of entertaining the viewer - no mean feat when you consider it is 3 hours in length and could easily have turned into a turgid piece of celluloid as dour as our weather. Of course, the film has some (supposed) historical inaccuracies, but given that historians of this and any age often have their own political agendas then who can say for sure what did or did not take place. I noticed in one previous review someone was berating Mel Gibsons twentieth century Glaswegian accent. I was just wondering what the alternative was - thirteenth century Gaelic, anyone? I also couldn't help but smile at all the poor scores awarded by reviewers from England. I mean, imagine having the audacity to portray rapers and pillagers as evil - whatever is the world coming to.

Summary: very good movie
Review: Mel Gibson really shows what he can do in the movie. Braveheart is the most realistic movie of this era. The special effects are wonderful. This is really a movie that must be watched a few times so you catch everything. You will be so surprised when you notice everything you missed the first and second time. I am recommending this movie to the fullest!

Summary: Excellent movie, even if it lacks historical accuracy.
Review: The story of William Wallace and his struggle to free Scotland is beautifully brought to the screen by Mr. Gibson and his excellent cast. Although not personally familiar with the history behind the man, I understand that Mr. Gibson took liberties with facts, but it is commonly understood that Hollywood will sacrifice accuracy for entertainment.

The plot is simple: Scotland is under the yoke of Britain and its evil ruler. Wallace, brought brought up outside Scotland, returns upon reaching manhood to his village and his people where he falls in love. Although trying to live in peace, the English oppression on his people prove to be too much, and he takes up arms against the powerful enemy to the south.

There are, of course, the requesite battle scenes, despicable actions by the king to show how truly evil he is, as well as the double-crossing and the romance. However, the scope and scale of the movie is truly breath-taking. The battles are long, arduous affairs, with decapitations, mutilations and lots of blood. Think "Saving Private Ryan" meets people with really big axes. But the battles are not merely graphic; they are beautifully choreographed, and extremely well shot. The spectator can follow the action and understand the tactics involved.

Ms. Marceau brings fire and strength to the role of the English King's daughter-in-law. She is introduced as a pawn of the King, but she reveals to much more than that.

My complaint of the movie is that the pacing is a bit off. Three quarters into the movie, it reaches a point where I thought the movie was over. All of a sudden, the plot resumes. The ending is also a bit too dramatic, but then again, we are dealing with larger-than-life characters.

Overall, this is a highly recommendable movie, and definitely a must-see for all Mel Gibson fans.

Summary: Magnificant!
Review: Braveheart is definitely a worldwide classic. Everyone will love this one. Although long (2 hrs. 57 min.) it doesn't drag. I agree with the reviewer who said that Mel does an excellent job of portraying a Scotsman; unlike Kevin Costners sad attempt at being an Englishman. A must for Mel Gibson fans!
