Rating: Summary: Kleenex Stock Rises Again Following Braveheart DVD Release Review: If you are the type who enjoys historical movies, great acting, (and you like to cry), then this is the movie for you. When the movie released in the theatre, I wasn't exactly sure what the movie was about. 1/2 hour after the credits had rolled, I was still crying - in the theatre - in the dark. I am anxiously awaiting delivery of the DVD as the 2 copies that I have on tape are just about worn out. Yes, there are some historical innaccuracies, but what few there are aren't worth getting hung up about. The general history remains in tact. I have a collection of over 500 movies on tape and DVD. This movie, by far, is the best of my collection!
Rating: Summary: A DVD Must-Have for any home video collection! Review: As a film, this is truly an awe-inspiring masterpiece that joins the ranks of great classics like "Lawrence of Arabia". Paramount did an excellent job in bringing this movie to DVD. The picture is clear and pristine due to the anamorphic enhancement & widescreen formatting which is required to convey the beauty of the film's various expansive wide landscape shots of the Scottish valleys. Audio soundtrack is richly detailed and expansive in its use of surround effects which adds the effect of "being there" especially during the brutal battle scenes. James Horner's music score comes through just beautifully. One aspect of this dvd I really enjoyed is the audio commentary track by the director himself Mel Gibson. He was very cordial, humorous, and at times very informative about the whole affair of making this movie. Just listening to Mel Gibson talk while viewing this movie made it feel as if you were watching it with a down-to-earth friend. You'll get a kick out of it. Trust me! There is one thing though: I just wish Paramount had included the TV clips from the Academy Awards show of Mel Gibson receiving the Oscars and his acceptance speech. The entire crew & Mel Gibson himself so richly deserved the Oscars the film won and including those Oscar clips in this DVD's supplements would have been icing on the cake. This DVD is a no-brainer, you can't get any better than this.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story of Scottish Hero Review: This movie is spellbinding! Mel Gibson really did a fantastic job with this movie. I've seen it a number of times and each time it just gives you chills. The acting is fantastic and all the shots of the Scottish countryside are breathtaking! Enjoy, enjoy. You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: From Love to War, This One Has it All! Review: What an amazing movie! First of all, Mel Gibson shows (once again) why he is one of the best actors ever to grace the big screen. Even though his Scottish accent was a little thick, I think he pulled off the role of William Wallace to perfection. But what really makes this such a great movie is it's contrasting scenes. There are very few movies where you can go from a gruesome battle scene one minute to a romantic love scene the next. Two thumbs up for this one!
Rating: Summary: BRAVEHEART Review: i goto the movies all the time,i love movies you might say its a passion of mine.out of all the movies i've seen braveheart is by far the best one, second to none.this movie has everthing and i stongly recommend it.thank you mel gibson!
Rating: Summary: Number 1 ! Review: I can't give BraveHeart any less than the first place. This is one of the best films I've ever seen.It lifted my spirit after I had watched it for the first time like no movie before that time. Mel Gibson outdid himself in this case: His performance was flawless, absolutely credible and unforgettable. Thanks for this one,Mel.I admire everything regarding this creation, everything was done in the finest form - it's a masterpiece,a superb outcome. I saw it for the first time five years ago, closely to my graduation from school.Today I realize how young and "fresh" I was back than.I've changed a lot ever since.Nonetheless, seeing the movie nowadays creates very similar impact in me,like the one that was generated in the past. I guess some things never change. I might suspect that it is not suitable to all female ladies out there.Myself,I know some women who dislike the film, mostly because of the voilence largely displayed in it.Consider this as a warning(It's certainly not for children under 14). So,unless you can't cope with the violence(that is essential when presenting war and struggle),I would say - Don't miss it. On DVD this has got to be major league experience.
Rating: Summary: A must see film ! Review: This is a must see film! Colossal, dramatic battles abound ! Also reveals the inner conflict that besets a commander/leader on war's casualties. The acting by Mel Gibson is first class and the supporting actors such as his comrades are also very good.I have seen this film (VCD version) many times and will continue to see it in the future.
