Rating: Summary: the Best Review: This was the most touching moive i've ever seen. Go Mel Gibson.
Rating: Summary: Only one thing missing... Review: There is only one thing missing on this DVD. That is the outtakes. No Mel Gibson movie from Hamlet to Lethal Weapon to (well) Braveheart should be without a hillarious outtakes section. Mel Gibson is not only a fantastic actor and director, but a legendary practical joker. I was lucky enough to see the outtakes of this movie on TV and they are riotous!Notice that I avoid the word "bloopers" as, to the best of my knowledge, none of these outtakes contain groin injuries.
Rating: Summary: BRAVEHEART Review: there is nothing to say about this film.mel gibson made a good job to play william wallace and direct this movie.I was inspired by this, excellent movie.BUY THIS MOVIE AND KEEP FOREVER!!!
Rating: Summary: A Movie Not To Be Missed Review: Between the sensational acting, the astounding costumes and effects Braveheart is a historical saga not to be missed. Mel Gibson plays a reblious Scottsman fighting for freedom from England. The king a merciless ruler with a feeble son is heading straight for death without and aire. Sophie Marceau portrays a princess who falls in eternal love with Gibson, a role that did not quite fit her but she made the best out of a flaw. Braveheart is undoubtablely Mel Gibon's best work ever. A few historical flaws here and there, but otherwise a perfect must see movie of the year.
Rating: Summary: Very good story Review: so many people said watch this movie!! i had heard of it and actually rented it 2 times with the intention of watching it, but when i looked at the 2 tapes sitting on my table flashbacks of titanic played in my mind (soooooo long!!) so finally a friend had it on DVD and we watched it one day. i was very impressed with the amazing story line and the excellent battle scenes. the commentary with actor/producer/director mel gibson was really cool, but i was hoping for more bonus items, but with a awsome story, i was glad to have finally seen it
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: Not without its historic flaws, but definitely a wonderful story and a superb movie.
Rating: Summary: All pieces in place! Review: What can I say about this movie? I can barely guess how many times I've seen it... once in the theater, 20-something times on regular VHS and now, finally, on dvd. This is one of a handful of movies I feel can ONLY be viewed in widescreen. If you enjoy the battle scenes -you need the extra meat on the sides. That's all that mattered to me. Of course the "making of..." is sweet, and who will say no to some free trailers? But the commentary by Mel was lackluster at best, and even depressed me when he talked of cutting scenes that sounded cool, like a wicked night battle -I wouldn't have complained if the movie were a half hour longer! Braveheart truly stands peerless in it's genre, having been so lovingly crafted in every aspect... costumes, acting, camera work, music, scenery, humor, villainy, betrayal, love, and unmatched spirit. High on my list of favorites.
Rating: Summary: watching this movie on a television does not do it justice Review: First of all, watching this movie on a television does not do it justice. The wide screen vistas and fight scenes are intense in the theater. Although they are also spectacular in a smaller format, it just isn't the same. With that aside, this movie has the most intense and realistic battle scenes ever before shown. Braveheart has many dimensions, the plot is exciting and suspenseful, the characters are well defined and portrayed, and there is an unparalleled scenery and musical accompaniment. A movie complete with everything it needs to make it memorable and special.
Rating: Summary: A little long, but beautiful, and rich with Scots! Review: Bads: I've seen my share of documentaries, for sure... This seems more of a dramatization of the legend of William Wallace than a documentary which is actually a good thing... but still, it's a bit long for some people to watch without a real intermission, which loses the cadence just a bit. Greats: The music, the lands, the atmosphere, just totally incredible. Mel Gibson, Sophie Marceau, Catherine McCormack, Patrick McGoohan. All totally awesome and talented individuals. The portrayals in this story of the betrayal, the death, the life, the hope, the loves... of this legendary Scottish man are incredible. The funeral scene where the little girl gives the little William a thistle can move some to tears... but when Wallace produces it many years later to show to his one true love how he feels... it makes you dream of a love such as this. The love of his life, taken from him, his vengeance, and his falling in love again and his being loved... incredibly moving. His loyalty, faith and trust in another man, and the betrayal that ultimately leads to his downfall. For one man to wish to serve another (or his country or his fellow man) so is inspiring in this age of corporate turnovers. Truly powerful. Even if it's not totally based on truth, I just don't care. It's worth owning and watching again and again. The victors really do write the history. Maybe it's not so much of a legend after all. There's a little too much gore for some younger viewers, but overall not bad. A date movie, a prize to own. Get it.
Rating: Summary: The best in filmaking Review: This is the one movie, with the exception of Dances With Wolves, that has the right to be three hours long. Why? Because there is not a weak moment in the film. Whether you are on the edge of your seat waiting to see what will happen to Wallace's wife, or analyzing the politcal tactics of Robert the Bruce as you slowly realize how much you are like him, the film never drags and only gets better. Edward "Longshanks" is one of the most deplorable villains you will meet on the screen, and his son one of the most laughable. Sophie Marceau was the ideal choice for France's princess, and she plays the role of Wallace's patron and avenger with an obvious passion. I can't see how someone could dislike this film unless it were out of pure cynicism. This is the kind of movie you buy, not rent. You're alone on a weekend, not doing anything - you can always watch one our day's greatest actors and filmakers portray one of history's greatest heroes.
