Rating: Summary: The Best Action Film Ever Review: Mel Gibson gives his best performance ever in this film. Beautifully written and the scenery is absolutely godly. Have never seen a better action movie.
Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I was not one of the lucky ones to see this film in theatres. In fact, I borrowed this from a friend only after seeing the Patriot (not quite as good). Who knew this movie was so awesome? The patriotism stirred up was nearly enough to make me want to fight for Scotland. As in the Patriot, the script did an excellent job of making England the enemy. While a little too much for the queasy, the battles are enough to make you skip a heartbeat. If you have yet to see this movie, pick it up. You're really gonna like it.
Rating: Summary: This was GREAT!!!!!!!!!!! Review: For all of those pessimistic people complaining about the blood and violence here's a news flash. This is about a WAR. Blood usually shows up in battle scenes. If you don't like blood, why did you pay to see this movie in the first place? And so what if it isn't "historically accurate"!?! I wish I could record just so you could hear how sarcastic my voice is. A lot of movies aren't historically accurate. It didn't stop this one from being one of the best films I've ever seen. This was a wonderful movie. Mel Gibson was amazing as William Wallace. Everybody should see this movie. His aura is so rich you can feel what he feels, and that makes this experience even better.
Rating: Summary: Braveheart on DVD Review: Braveheart is a fantastic film in all aspects. Director, star and producer Mel Gibson really comes through with the goods in ths story about a medieval Scottish rebellion. I won't go into the plot, because most of you already know it, but this really is a first rate film. Mel Gibson has really crafted an endearing yet brutal character within the Scottish rogue William Wallace. I think he really deserved an oscar nomination for his performance here. The writing is clever. Not clever like Pulp Fiction, but rather like Ben-Hur or Gladiator. It is a solid script. Visually, this film is FANTASTIC! The cinematography is top notch and just beautiful with landscpaes to die for. The editing and costumes are also just great. The DVD of Braveheart is also very good and complements the film greatly. The picture is very sharp and the sound is equally good. The aspect ratio complements the cinematography. There are also many good extra features on this DVD that expand nicely on the film. These include two theatrical trailers, which are nothing special, but are still nice to see. There is also a film commentary by Mel Gibson, which is only mediocre. What he has to say is interesting, but there are large gaps between his comments. The best feature on this DVD is the making of documentary. It runs about 30 minutes long and covers a lot more than what Gibson's commentary does. If you are a Mel Gibson fan or just like good movies this DVD is definitely one for your collection.
Rating: Summary: Great director's comments Review: It is worth buying for Mel Gibson's directors comments. They are very insightful.
Rating: Summary: Best picture; best storyline; great actors; quite a rush! Review: BRAVEHEART: great epic piece; issues of truly living for what you believe in and not just living; not to mention some excellent characters and action sequences and a picture which moved. FREEEDUUUUM!!! J
Rating: Summary: One of the best films ever made! Review: Braveheart is one of the best movies ever made. Mel Gibson did a wonderful job playing William Wallace, one of the heroes of Scottish history. The movie had me going from tears of joy to tears of sorrow! Without a doubt this is a must have movie!!
Rating: Summary: Mel makes himself into Christ...(SPOILERS) Review: "Braveheart" is an entertaining crowd-pleasing epic with wonderful battle scenes, but Mel Gibson makes Wallace too perfect. EVERYONE has flaws, so when Mel ignores Wallace's flaws it makes himself look arrogant. So William was: a great lover, a great fighter, a wise man, an intelligent man, an expert strategist, and in the end Christ (dying for his people, getting betrayed by those closest to him). If you want to see a compelling epic that actually deals with the main charcter's faults see "Lawrence of Arabia", if you want to see a fun piece of Hollywood fluff watch "Braveheart".
Rating: Summary: Great Movie. Period. Review: I'm a big fan of Mel's work for one, so naturally I had to see Braveheart when it first debuted. Its an excellent movie, one of my all time favorites actually. The people that write about how it historically inaccurate I two things to say to them : (1) Did you pay any attention to Mel's interview regarding that very topic? The movie was never INTENDED to be an historical remake for the academic community! (2) Finally, any scholar on earth who "knit picks" too much about the history, they need to loosen up and just enjoy a movie for entertainment value (its not like it was ABSURDLY inaccurate anyway - the main plot WAS true as were the epic battles). Besides there is very VERY little known about the TRUE history of William Wallace, so even if your a huge historical scholar much of the REALITY of the "braveheart story" can only be made on educated guesses at best and blind opinions at worse. For the rest of you just wanting a great movie, with some of the best battle scenes that has ever graced the silver screen as long as top rate acting (there's even a small dash of humor in the film from time to time to balance the otherwise VERY serious nature of the film - this "balancing" use of humor is excellently done in this film!). Its 3 hours long, but its so well made, interesting and there are not that many slow parts that it makes the time tick away fast.
Rating: Summary: Braveheart- A True Epic! Review: Few movies are done with this kind of scope and epic atmosphere. Braveheart takes you back to a time in Hollywood, when writing a motion picture screenplay actually meant something. It tells the story of a Scottish patriot, William Wallace, who rises to power and leads armies of his fellow countrymen in defiance of England's tyranny. This movie is never short in entertainment and inspiration. It shows that even one person can make a huge difference. William Wallace not only makes a difference, but with his intense, incredible leadership, he changes the world. The movie is action packed from beginning to end. The acting is top notch. And the powerhouse original score by James Horner is the best you'll ever find. Dont miss out on this adventure.
