Summary: Incredible!
Review: Wow! What an epic. Most people have no idea what it was like in the 13th century, let alone in remote Scotland.

I saw Rob Roy, but it does not compare to this film. The DVD is great. Plenty of additional information about the difficulties of filming in Scotland.

I don't care what people say about Mel being on an ego trip with this film. It's a great adventure! Mel did fine in his part. Everyone did.

The scenes, backdrops, countryside, weather.... Everything fit perfectly.

Summary: a great movie
Review: Yes, this isn't historically accurate, and yes, the common laymen shouldn't use this as historical reference, but I think this movie does show medieval warfare quite well, not just medieval warfare in Scotland, but just generic warfare. It is horrible close combat slashing, and actually, this movie gets yer adrenaline up better than SPR. Yes, it's patriotic, and I dont like patriotic stories, and yes, it has (as usual) a cheesy love story, but what do you expect?? This is a hollywood movie DIRECTED by a Hollywood star! How could you possibly expect better? This is still a great movie in that it shows medieval warfare better than any other movie ever made.

Summary: Bloody, Gory, Totally Awesome
Review: This is definitely one of my favorite movies. Mel Gibson does a spectacular impression of a Scottish warrior. The basic theme is one we can all relate to--freedom from an oppressive government. The battle scenes are realistic and very gory for those of you with bloodlust(You know who you are). Great story, wonderful cast, all the action you could ask for. The ending is heart-wrenching but at the same time leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction. This is definitely a movie you gotta buy. I have seen this movie many times but I still enjoy it each time.

Summary: Mel's Best To Date
Review: Definately the best movie ever....well, at the worst it is tied with "The Patriot"...need I say more?

Review: One of the ten best films I've ever seen. The rare kind that you can watch dozens of times and still appreciate.

Summary: Really the best
Review: Regardless of this movie's historical accuracy, (which is pretty good)Gibson's ability as a director to combine the story of Scotland's battle for freedom from the English tyrant Edward the Longshanks, and one oridinary man's struggle in a role he never wanted could not have been done better. Braveheart does all of this and more as the story unfolds on many levels dramatically and intensely. I cannot put into words just how good this movie is. The DVD itself is not much better then the VHS verson, with the exception that the sound quality truly does this magnificant soundtrack justice, and the picture makes the ferocious combat 5x better. If you have never seen this movie, you've been living under a rock, and if you have and didn't like it, then i have nothing to say to you. However, for those of us who love this movie nearly as much as I, this DVD would be an excellent addition to their collection.

Summary: Great Battle Sequences!
Review: Military conflicts are my interests, so that was the reason i picked this up and as soon as i watched the first battle i was hooked to this movie. The ferocity of medevil warfare always interests me from the weapons to the battles that ensued and this film was the closest at showing what war was like back then. Some of the scenes i saw in this movie made me squirm a bit. This movies battles is the equilivant of Saving Private Ryans which is pretty grusome. Highly recommended for war fanatics.

Summary: Alba gu bragh!
Review: "Scotland Forever" is the translation of my title. William Wallace is one of my personal heroes. "Braveheart" tells the story of his life ... with some definite fiction thrown in for dramatic license and to move the tale along. Even with the factual inaccuracies (e.g., Wallace was a Border scot ... he wore trousers, not a kilt), this is a brilliant, moving film. All cast members played their roles very well. Cinematography and soundtrack are outstanding as well. "Braveheart" was highly deserving of every accolate it received. I recommend this film to anyone with an interest in medieval history, battle tactics, and Scotland.

Summary: Epic, Grand, Unforgettable
Review: In the same year that "Rob Roy" was released, Mel Gibson's "Braveheart" was also released. I think I like "Rob Roy" slightly better, but it's close to a toss-up. The scenery is not quite as stunning, but the music is more pronounced (albeit no better). Gibson plays William Wallace, a semi-legendary, semi-historical figure out of Scottish history. In Wallace's time, the English ruled Scotland with a heavy hand that grew ever heavier. Wallace leads a revolt against the English that, while not immediately successful, did result eventually in Scottish sovereignty. The battles in "Braveheart" are much bigger than those of "Rob Roy" along with the causes involved, although it is easier to personally identify) for me, at least) with Rob Roy McGregor's situation.

My suggestion is to buy both of these movies and have fun figuring out which you like more. You're apt to find your opinion switching back and forth, as they are both excellent stories that were excellently done. "Braveheart" should be your choice, though, if you're looking for big battle scenes. As I finish this review, I think I have to say that I do prefer "Rob Roy" over "Braveheart", but only by a hair.

Summary: The greatest movie of all time w/ greatest actor ever...
Review: Mel Gibson gives an awesome performance as William Wallace. He also does an excellent job as the director. The cast as a whole gave spectacular performances. Mel Gibson should have received a "Best Actor" Academy Award 'cuz he's the greatest actor of all time. Even though he didn't, he's still awesome (Plus, he's so HOT!!). Anyway, "Braveheart" will go down as the "greatest movie ever made" 'cuz it's way better than "Gladiator" (it was OK), "Glory", and "Saving Private Ryan" (which I didn't like at all. I hated it.). The closest thing to "Braveheart" is "The Patriot", which still doesn't come close to topping this but it was still a great movie. "Braveheart" is the best!!
