Rating: Summary: A New-Fashioned Historical Epic from Mel Gibson Review: In the late 13th century, William Wallace (Mel Gibson) returns to Scotland after living away from his homeland for many years. The king of Scotland has died without an heir to the throne and the king of England, a ruthless pagan known as Edward the Longshanks, has seized the throne. Wallace becomes the leader of a ramshackle but courageous army determined to vanquish the greater English forces and restore freedom to Scotland. Wallace's courage and passion unite Scotland in this epic film.In the lat 20th century, Mel Gibson stars on both sides of the camera, playing the lead role plus directing and producing this brawling, richly-detailed saga of fierce combat, tender love, and the will to risk all that is precious for something more precious: freedom. Braveheart is the winner of five Acamedy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director. Braveheart is an outstaning historical drama and one of the most spectacular and entertaining film in years. Braveheart is a movie not to be missed by anyone, which is why I recommend this to everyone.
Rating: Summary: One Of The Greatest Review: My favorite movie of all time. It is just that good. If you don't own it or wish to get it, you're crazy.
Rating: Summary: It's Braveheart Review: This is the grand and glorious, romantic and adnventuours, thrilling, action packed and exciting, sweeping epic of battle and struggle of good against evil, the upper class and the lower nobody's that everyone knows, everyone loves and everyone has got in their vocabulary. "...for one chance, just one chance, to come back here and tell our enemies, that they may take our lives, but they'll never take, our freedom." "Wallace! Wallace! Wallace!" How can this movie not inspire courage in everyone? How can it not reaffirm the majesty and mytsique of the glorious epic dramas of yesterday? This is a wonderful film, with a wonderful score, beautiful cinematography and some damn good performances. This is an excellent film and it gets my highest recommendation possible.
Rating: Summary: Not a true story, and dvd additions ruin the movie Review: First, William Wallace was an actual historic persion, but the story described in this movie is completely fake. There are websites about him (Wil, not Mel), so go check out google or yahoo or whatever. However, the movie itself is very entertaining with a good story, good musics, beautiful scenes. So, why they wanted to make it "true"? I have no idea. Maybe they thought they can grab a bit more bucks by saying so (or if not explicitly saying, they're implying) like blarewitch project? Even the interview w/ Mel (on dvd) emphasize the existence of Wil and praise him as a freedom fighter. That kind of attitude really ruin the movie itself. In addition to Mel, the chick really acted stupid in the interview even though she looked smart and considerable person in the movie; this means that she is a good actress who can completely hide her shallowness in the movie. So, if you cannot enjoy something after seeing the reality behind the scene, don't watch the inteviews. Another annoying point (after watching it few times) is that Wil justifies everything for "freedom". The movie encourages revenge (or "get even" if you prefer to call it... well, the president bush call it "justice"), and I am one of most ppl who just enjoyed it... at first. I personally love revenge, but after seeing what's going on in the mid east in the real life/ world, and thinking about the true value of forgiveness, the implication of this movie really is superficial. The last thing to complain is that Mel wasn't young enough to play as Wil. He was a good actor on this movie (and Mad Max), but he cannot hide his age. It's hard to be convinced he was late teen to early 20s. But again, if you don't care about the history, and don't care about the detail of the story, this is a minor bug which can be safely ignored. And let me repeat once again, "this move is finely made, acting is good, musics and all others are really nice" and I bet you too will enjoy, but if you want to keep the good impression, don't seek the true history or watch the interviews.
Rating: Summary: Very cool movie.. Review: This was a very cool movie. Just everything about it makes it a very enjoyable experience. One of those movies you can watch over and over.
Rating: Summary: A Graphic Experience Review: BRAVEHEART is a lavish production. It depicts medieval warfare fairly accurately in all its bloody glory. Moreover, William Wallace was a real-life Scottish folk-hero. On the other hand, the events shown here have little relation to actual historical events and the graphic bloodiness is almost overwhelming. The end is a visual tribute to man's creativity in finding ways to inflict ghastly physical pain on his fellow man. I watched this once, found it quite interesting, and have no desire to repeat the experience. As a cinematic effort, though, it is beautifully done. If you like lots of blood and gore, you'll love this movie. If not, steer clear.
Rating: Summary: Oe of the best movies of all time Review: A branch of my family tree from way way back is from Scotland. When I see this movie and hear the wonderful soundtrack I can't help but feel the same stiring in my blood as my ansestors once did all those years ago. Wonderful battle sceans and some good reflections on life make this movie one of my personal picks. If you enjoy a story that has war, love and treachery all in one you should see this movie. By the end you will think that Mel Gibbson is Braeheart.
Rating: Summary: Great Epic Flick Review: Great movie. A little long and drawn out, but well done. Not something that I am going to watch 20 times, but one of those good must see movies. Big battle scenes. We played a drinking game once where whenever someone died, you had to drink. The game was short lived as like 500 people get killed in the many battles in the movie.
Rating: Summary: wooh boy ... Review: Fantastic. The only thing better than this would be two blank VHS tapes. But then , you wouldn't have the pretty pictures on the box. Buy the box with the pretty pictures!
Rating: Summary: a DVD to own Review: If I had to choose absolutely one movie to own and live with for the rest of my life, this is it. Mel Gibson is William Wallace. Love to just watch it for entertainment. Love to watch it for the beautiful film making. Love to watch it to see Mel.
