Summary: GREAT DVD!!!!!
Review: I have been a HUGE Princess Bride fan since it came out at the theaters years ago. I was given this DVD as a Christmas gift from my husband, and I have loved it ever since. My 7 year old son even watches it now! The DVD is packed with interviews and special footage. It even has some of Carey Ewels' private home video shot while filming. It is fabulous, and a must for any one who is a fan, or is looking for a good, family friendly DVD for their pre-teen kids, boys and girls.

Summary: The Bride
Review: This is a great movie. It's one of my first love and I totally recommend it to any one. It's more then just a romance really. It has so much going on and it's really great for the whole family.
I love the whole plot and the characters, and actors/actresses are excellent.

Summary: An Epic Fantasy/Comedy
Review: Another great movie of fantastical myth, legend and comedy The Princess Bride gets four stars. Directed by Rob Reiner and William Goldman with the great narrative voice of Peter Falk as Grandpa, this film has an excellent storyline. Grandpa reads the story of lady Buttercup and Westly's love being jealously stepped on by the evil Prince Humperdinck to his grandson played by Fred Savage. The swordplay in this film is excellently choreographed and the subtle hilarity is almost unmatched. This film is a must have for any home DVD collection.

Summary: As you wish!
Review: This is a wonderful movie and has something for everyone. It's not about special effects or amazing visuals, some of the sets are pretty basic and look low budget. It isn't about clever plot twists or surprise endings, most viewers can guess how the movie will end when the movie opens. It is, however, a story about "true love" and the obstacles overcome in order to find it. Serious as that may sound, it is hardly the case. You could call this movie a "playful romp" and you would not be far off. In no way does this movie ever take itself seriously, and that is a lot of the fun. Even more, it is the supporting characters and cameos that really make this movie. It is a veritable "Who's Who" of comic actors that will leave you smiling well after the end. The movie is both touching and entertaining. If you need special effects and intricate plots, nudity, sex and violence, then this is not what you are looking for. If, however, you enjoy entertaining characters and a wonderful story, then this is it! Do yourself a favor and RENT this movie now! You won't be sorry.

Summary: JUST ADDING MY TWO CENTS!
Review: MOST EXCELLENT MOVIE - HAVE WATCHED IT NUMEROUS TIMES! That is what makes a great movie -
Loved the characters - great acting jobs by all.
Wonderful scenery. Can't say enough good about it -- a thoroughly decent story -- now then was Peter Falk the elderly farm boy? Quite a thought! What a movie in the true sense.

Summary: Love, True Love for filmmaking
Review: When I first heard of the PRINCESS BRIDE, it was from a student who was pursuing a degree in film studies. He was so determined that I see this movie, which he had sat through back-to-back viewings the night before, that he offered to pay for my seat. For student/teacher ethical relations reasons, I didn't allow him to pay for me, but I did go see the film that weekend. I can never repay that student enough for his advice!

From the moment the underrated Peter Falk begins reading to the moment he shuts the light saying to his grandson, "As you wish", THE PRINCESS BRIDE is a non-stop delight and hoot. Every performance is inspired: the entire cast seems so happy to participate in this film. And Rob Reiner's direction is a wonderful tour de force. There are some stilted, preachy moments, especially when Reiner contrasts modern entertainment (video games and cable) with old-fashioned story-telling and book-reading, but that's forgiveable. In the long run, he does prove that a modern movie doesn't have to have violence, blood, nudity, not one offensive word, to be appealing to adults and children. You can sense that he didn't want to spoil what was obviously a labor of love.

Summary: Exceptional Fairytale!
Review: The Princess Bride is a movie every child, and adult for that matter, should see. It is beautiful, enchanting, magical... full of interesting characters tied up in a wonderfully written plot. The actors all perform with amazing talent, Mandy Patinkin shines in this one. If you like fairy tales you will love this one in particular as it has all the right elements; romance, action, and a wonderfully interesting plot. It is a must own because you will surely want to watch it over and over. A classic!

Summary: The Princess Bride: Review
Review: Long ago in a country far away called Florin, a farm boy named Wesley and a farm girl named Buttercup fall in love. Being to poor to claim her hand in marriage, Wesley strikes out on a quest to claim his fortune. Then, on his journey across the sea, his ship is attacked by the Dread Pirate Roberts, who is infamous for never taking prisoners. Buttercup, upon learning of her lover's death, vows never to love again. Five years later, despite her wish to remain unmarried, she is chosen by Prince Humperdink to become his wife and the future Queen of Florin. Then, on the day of their engagement, she is kidnapped by three strange men who she finds are planning to kill her on the Gilder Frontier to start a war. In their passage from Florin to Gilder, however, a mysterious man dressed in black is found to be following them.

This is a unique and fun-filled fairy-tale, that is both charming and enjoyable for people of all ages. While older audiences will find it amusing and witty, younger ones will love the action and the fantasy elements it presents. Few movies offer such good quality entertainment for all ages as this film does. It successfully incorporates all of the best elements of romance, comedy, drama, and action-adventure for a movie that will appeal to almost anyone.

Visually it is quite beautiful, the sceneries are enchanting, fantasy ones, yet they seem to maintain a very realistic quality to them. The special effects, while appropriate for the time, are extremely outdated by today's standards. The actors, however, are extremely well cast, being able to slip into their roles like an old man slips on his slippers. The music, while seeming corny to the younger generations, is quite appropriate and fits perfectly into the film's various moods. The film's narrative intrusions do not break the flow of the story at all, but actually increase the suspense and even add some very funny elements. The dialogues are finely written, the fencing scenes are fairly decent, and the apparently conventional plot holds quite a few surprises to the first time viewer.
