Summary: Revenge has never been sweeter
Review: We all love the sweet taste of revenge. Maybe that's what makes this story so compelling--we all have someone we'd like to get revenge on, and this movie gives us that wonderful, satisfying feeling of having it.
The plot is simple--boy meets girl, boy's best friend frames boy and steals girl, boy spends years training and gets revenge on best friend. What really makes the story great is just that simplicity.
The film is an excellent rendition of the book, though there are some obvious changes (as there always are). Still, the acting is good, the scenery is beautiful, and the plot does a good job of capturing the story. 'Count' is an overall good film.

Summary: The Count of Monte Cristo
Review: If you want a great bad guy vs. good guy, this is just for you. The twists, turns and emotions run high in this adventure. For romantics at large. Grab a tissue and the throat spray because you will be crying and yelling at your tv set.

Summary: loved the book and the movie
Review: I first saw the movie and it was fabulous. I loved the storyline and the plot. Of course, i knew that it had been changed from the original book to appeal more to the movie audience. But I loved the book equally with it's intricate planning. Though i did like the movie's happy ending more than the book's.

Summary: Revenge is truly a dish best served cold.
Review: The phrase "revenge is a dish best served cold" is given new meaning in this film.

Unjustly imprisoned and his life destroyed, the "Count" wreaks merciless vengence upon his foes. The best scene is when one of his foes is about to be carted away to prison. He sees a gun in the prison wagon he is in, grabs it, holds it to his head, pulls the trigger . . . and nothing happens!

"You didn't think I would make it THAT EASY, now did you?" asks the Count in a smug, satisfied voice.

Summary: decent but not even close
Review: I watched this movie with great anticipation after reading the book however, I quickly realized that this is not the same story that Dumas put on paper all those many years ago. If you have never read his book it will entertain you. It was entertaining but again it was not even close to the book. It would be better titled "Kinda like the Count...Cristo".

Summary: PHEW!!! What a relief!
Review: I wrote a review for this DVD, but it never got posted for some reason. I gave it one star because I was under the impression that this was going to be released in FULLSCREEN only. At least, that's what was listed on this page. But now, I look on this page and it says WIDESCREEN format. YES! PHEW! Okay, now I WILL buy this movie, because it is an excellent one. And looking at the special features listed, the DVD itself looks promising.

I will most likely write another review once I get the DVD and am able to explore the special features. Just wanted to say how glad I am to find out that the whole FULLSCREEN situation was a terrible mix up. I just hope that THIS isn't another typo.

Summary: I Love This Movie!
Review: When I saw this movie in the theater, I couldn't wait for it to come out on video. The costumes were excellent, and the acting was great. The movie does not stay true to the book, however, something that is usually dissapointing. This time, I didn't care. You must see this movie!
