Summary: Robocop 2
Review: In the same setting as the last film, Robocop (Peter Weller) must fight a drug dealer Cain that eventually becomes Robocop 2, a powerfully brutal upgrade of Robocop that will not relent from killing sprees until it receives the drugs it needs. At the same time, Robocop is attempting to comprehend his true identity, disrupting his activities.

This exciting sequel to Robocop is filled with more intense action than anyone can think of. It is only marred by a slightly deranged performance by the child actor.

If you like this film, I also recommend "A Clockwork Orange".

Overall rating: 4.6 stars (rounded to 5)

Rated R for extreme violence, language, and drug-use.

Summary: Robocop 2...more darker and funnier than the first.
Review: People must be on CRACK to think this movie was any tamer than the first. Insane violence, that it was overboard...into the waters of satire. The last line sums up this movie's subtle genius "After all, Lois...we're only human". I love the old theme, but it's too heroic. This theme sounds more satirical. The villain was also much better in this movie. The 12 year old kid was nothing but more satire. There were tons of great one-liners...this wasn't just satire by itself this was RoboCop at his best. "Cain! Let's step outside." Peter Weller's voice is the best cyborg voice EVER.

Summary: Mediocre Sequel
Review: The first Robocop is credited with helping revolutionize the sci-fi genre. This one is a far cry from the original. Robocop 2 (Cain) looked extremely out of place compared to Murphy's Robocop. However, Cain was an excellent villain. You could feel the evil every time you looked at him. The kid villain was horrible. To think that a 12 year old kid could be a criminal mastermind is un-realistic. Irvin Kershner definitely screwed up by putting the kid in this movie. Also, what happended to Basil Poulodoris's great theme song? This movie's real downfall was the end scene. Johnson, (OCP V.P.) tries to pin the Cain/Robocop 2 disaster on Dr. Faxx. However, The Old Man is having a love affair with her so he rejects the plan. They should have ended the movie with Robocop arresting Dr. Faxx.

Summary: What IS wrong? With you people, I mean...
Review: I swear, many of you reviewing this movie wouldn't know a sequel better than the original if it came and bit you in the bum! For starters, this sequel blows the original out of the water for many reasons. I'll explain below:

This is not to say the first one wasn't great...because it was. It's among my favorite movies of all time, no question. But there were some flaws to the first one, and that was mainly the lighter tone of it over this one. For those of you that didn't know, the original script for the first movie had to be toned down quite a few times in order for it to be rated R instead of NC-17, and look what the end result was. Had the script not been toned down, the first movie most likely would've been similar to what this one was: darker, edgier, gorier, and above all, better.

On to the movie itself. Whoever says the movie had no sense of humor, even a dark one, obviously has never watched the movie from the beginning or only seen bits and pieces of it. The "MagnaVolt" commercial at the beginning alone makes me laugh so hard to make my stomach hurt every time I see it. Let's not forget the "suicide" OCP commercial too. It's sardonic, yet hilarious at the same time (though I'm not sure it was meant to be that way). Though not dark humor, the Save Our City telethon that the mayor hosts (which doesn't raise any money) is just a totally stupid concept that you can't but laugh at. Oh yeah, don't forget what Robo says to the kids in the arcade: "Isn't this a school day?"

Personally, I thought this movie was better than the original because it WASN'T as light-toned as the first one was. The feeling of dread in the first real scene (an almost post-apocalyptic-looking slum with gangs, hobos, hookers and muggers running amok in the devestated streets) is like no other I've felt from any other movie in my life to date. That dark tone just lingers throughout the entire movie, and that alone kept me in my seat watching it.

I'd go on, but I'd go way over 1000 words, so ta-ta...

Summary: "Behave yourselves!"
Review: RoboCop 2, a mediocre sequel to the classic RoboCop. A somewhat powerful drug ring that is run by a foul-mouthed adolescent, and Cain, threatens the city of old Detroit, but of course RoboCop stands in their way of complete takeover. Several curves are thrown into the story line to try and give it some depth, like OCP making RoboCop more politcaly correct, and taming his aggression at one point...to give him a more acceptable image. The biggest difference from this film and the first is it has, for the most part, lost it's humourous touch. Some characters add a bit of atmosphere, like the people's Mayor, who actually witness's the new Robocop II's(Cain's brain) slaughtering of most of the gang and the mayor's men. This movie is good for a rent, but unless you're collecting the RoboCop series, I would not suggest adding this to your DVD collection.

Summary: Lots of violence and not too much action.
Review: This movie was good, but was crammed with violent bloody scenes and gorey fighting. It was great action but too intense for someone my age. It is not great material for me, but has some neat action! And by the way, WHERE IS CAIN??

Summary: Welcome to Dick Cheney's America
Review: This movie is WAY over the top. For this reason I found it enjoyable - the complete moral bankruptcy of the society portrayed, the sleazy executives, the world-weary drug-dealing kid. Crazy stuff. Not great cinema but a perfect example of a cheesy movie that is actually worth watching.

Summary: Cop on the Edge
Review: RoboCop 2 is probably the greatest movie when it comes to fighting the baddies.Drugs, brains, money, and a cop-killing kid spice up the adventure! If you have seen the previous Robo film, you should know he has a slow talking way of speech. That is why I enjoyed the third the best because it took Peter Weller about 2 minutes to say "Where is Cain?"Robert John Burke beats him by a longshot in heroic dialogue, action, and look because Burke had 5 o-clock shadow. Still, if you like RoboCop, this is a must see!

Summary: Back for More!
