Summary: good old-fashion movie making
Review: One thing I've noted through repeated viewings of this movie is how simply the director put it together (and perhaps cheaply, anyone know the budget for this flick?). If you look closely there isn't a lot of special effects that aren't just good old fashion makeup and costume. But that is the genius of the film. I believe because it was based on such a well written, character driven story (and subsequent screenplay), the director wisely chose experienced comedic actors and allowed them and the text to tell the story. Nothing fancy. I think these elements will keep our interest well into the next century. END

Summary: Inconceivable!
Review: I first saw this movie 10 years ago and I've watched it at least 80 times since (make that 81-- I watched it again last night!). I've completely ruined 2 copies of this movie just rewinding it and rewatching scenes that I loved so much (practically the whole movie).

I can easily do the entire movie from memory, and though it might not be the most technically exceptional film, it has stuff which can be appreciated by people of all ages.

Highly quotable, *very* funny, and just charming, all around. I would (and do) recommend it to everyone! Great performances by Cary Elwes, Mandy Patinkin, Billy Crystal, Peter Falk, Chris Sarandon, and the R.O.U.S.es.

If you're interested, the book is also available from this site, but please don't bother looking for the "original" book by S. Morgenstern; it never existed and the whole thing was written by William Goldman (if you don't believe it, email me and we'll talk). The book has more in it, and you get more history of the individual characters, but I have a hard time saying which I think is better.

Oh, one last thing: In the new release of the movie by MGM, there's a bit of a spoiler on the back cover of the video cassette. If you've never seen the movie before, do yourself a favour and *don't* read the back cover of the tape before you watch it.

"[The Princess Bride] is the greatest thing in the world-- except for a nice MLT (Mutton Lettuce and Tomato) sandwich where the mutton is nice and lean, and the tomatoes are ripe... they're so perky, I love that." --Miracle Max END

Summary: Buttercup was raised on a small farm in the city of Floren..
Review: So starts the most beautiful love story that you could ever watch. It has everything from swordfights to miracles and comedy to tragedy. This is a movie for anyone of any age. It has a dashing, brave hero, and his beautiful lover for whom he would go to the ends of the earth and back. If you were going to see any movie in the world, this is the one to see. END

Summary: The best all-time movie around!!!
Review: I think that this is the best movie that I have ever seen. I remember seeing this movie when I was little and I never knew the name of it. About 5 years ago I saw it on tv and I got the book immediately. If you love the movie then you should read the book. Chapter 1 in the book is my favorite part. I think everyone that reads the book could agree with me. I think that Cary Elwes was awesome in this movie. END

Summary: No more rhymes I mean it! - Does anybody wanna Penut?
Review: If you've really seen this movie you will understand my one line summary. If you don't understand then you need to watch this movie again. I know this movie word-for-word. I don't watch the movie, I recite it. I'd take Elwes over DiCaprio any day. This really is my favorite movie and in my opinion the Impressive Clergyman rocks! I also love Buttercup(Robin Wright) and although she is somewhat ditzy she and he(Westley) go perfectly together. After my friends and I saw the movie the cutest couple amoung our friends was always referred to as "Westley and Buttercup" they are still cute together. I can't think of anything else to say about this movie except that it is WONDERFUL, CHARMING, and AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I truly love it!

Humperdink- to the death! Westley- no! to the pain! Humperdink- i don't think I'm quite familliar with that phrase?. Westley- I'll explain, and I'll use small words so you'll be sure to understand you wart-hoged-faced-bafoon. Humperdink- I think that is the first time a man has dared insult me. Westley- It wont be the last. The first thing you lose will be your feet below the ankels then your hands at the wrist then your nose. Humperdink- then my tounge I suppose. I killed you too quickly the last time, a mistake I don't intend to duplicate tonight. Westley- Im not finished. the next thing you lose will be your left eye followed by your right. Humperdink- then my ears I understand. Lets get on with it. Westley- WRONG your ears you keep and Ill tell you why: so that every shrik of every child at your hideousness, every babe that weeps every woman that crys out "Dear God what is that THING" will echo in your perfect ears. that is what to the pain means it means I leave you in anguish wallowing in freakish misery forever.

That is Powerful stuff man! END

Summary: I LOVE IT!
Review: I love The Princess Bride. It's one of my favorite books/movies in the entire world. It's funny, dramatic, romantic, and adventerous all at the same time. I've seen the movie so many times that I had it memorized by the time I was 7 years old. Now I'm 15 and I still love it. My dad loves it as much as I do and he's 50. That really shows that it's a book/movie for everyone of all ages. END

Summary: This book and the film wrap up my heart.
Review: Westley makes my knees weak. He's like melting honey, and I'm sure Buttercup didn't fully realise what she had. The book and the film complement each other. While the film has the stunning visuals, the book is excellently written, and gives a much fuller explanation of character and situation backgrounds, as well as the amazing extent of the wizardry and hardships and most important, more romantic Westley(sigh)/ Buttercup scenes. For those who need more quotes because they can recite the film, and it's really good for reading aloud too. END

Summary: I love this movie!
Review: The Princess Bride is the coolest movie! When I first saw it, I wanted to be like Westley. The last party I went to, we watched the video, and Cary Elwes is better than ever. It's the perfect story for just sitting around and getting a little romace with some very funny lines. END

Summary: The best story ever!
Review: This story combines everthing from love, high adventure, comedy, good vs. evil, and action into a lovely "tell it to me again and again" package. I've seen it a dozen times, and will no doubt see it a dozen more. It is my all-time favorite movie/book! END
