Summary: Soooooooooo funny!
Review: Lol, the jokes in this movie are timeless. Whether u watch it 1 time or 100 times it will still crack u up. The whole movie is a joke, a spoof, but it must be one of the best ever created. My parents kept comparing it to monty python (? ) and stuff like that, i think that all ages will enjoy it.

Summary: Incredible movie, wait on the DVD though
Review: I love this movie - it is incredibly quotable and has scenes that will leave you in stitches. My office mates are always quoting the 'My name is Inigo Montoya, you Killed my Father, Prepare to Die!' sequence at each other when the opportunity presents itself. The movie both appeals to children and has great interest for adults as well. It's a love story and a satire of love stories, all at the same time.Unfortunately, the DVD version fails to deliver on any extras! Apparently a new DVD is in the works with interviews and other features - you might as well wait for that one to come out!

Review: I absolutely adore this movie. It's smart, funny, romantic... not to mention quotable: "Give us the gate key." "I have no gate key." "Fezzik, tear his arms off." "Oh, you mean this gate key?" The acting and the characters are wonderful, and the interjections of Fred Savage and his grandfather are cute. William Goldman (who wrote the novel) is a genius.

Review: This is the only way i can find to send you guys an e-mail . i came onto the site and was looking at the info on the princess bride when i saw that the stars were Cary Elwes and Mandy Patinkin. who is mandy patinkin ? cause if i am not mistaken , Cary Elwes co stars with the then Robin Wright , who is now Robin Wright-Penn. I just wanted to know who this actor is and why Robin Wright-Penn is not listed in the starring role . Thanks.

Summary: One of our assets
Review: It's fun to have a video library. When the mood strikes, you can usually find something to watch. But there are very few movies you can watch over and over without tiring of them. The Princess Bride is at the top of that list. I can't really put my finger on it, but it must be the combination of humor, performances, love story, and adventure. Rob Reiner blends them wonderfully into a movie you wish would never end. He fills it with memorable moments you eagerly anticipate; you find yourself memorizing the words. Some scenes, such as the sword fight atop the Cliffs of Despair and the iocane powder contest are brilliant. The Princess Bride earns its rating by its great entertainment value. The DVD is short of any special features, but it does allow you to see the film in letterbox form.

Review: Ah, The Princess Bride. Undoubtedly, my favourite movie of all time. Why should it be yours? Allow me to tell you. The Princess Bride is, in essense, a romantic comedy. Lowly farm hand Westley falls in love with the stunning Buttercup, expecting his love to always go unrewarded. Buttercup, however, realizes that she truly loves her "Farm Boy", and the two of them make plans to marry. Westley goes off to work on a ship to earn some money for the wedding, only to have his boat attacked by the Dread Pirate Roberts -- a man who never leaves survivors. This is where the plot picks up. Buttercup swears to never love again, although she agrees to marry the slimy Prince Humperdink. She's kidnapped by a motley trio of villains, is rescued by her beloved Westley (he's alive, rejoice!), is "rescued" from Westley by Prince Humperdink... I don't want to say much more, for fear of ruining the movie. The Princess Bride is a movie that has the ability to draw the viewer in, using humour and action, until the viewer is left standing in the heart of the movie, surrounded by magic and wonder. Every character is superbly acted -- right down to the cameo character Miracle Max. It's nearly impossible to watch the movie without becomming completely involved in it. I still (after so many viewings) find myself screaming at the television screen, either to cheer on the good guys or insult the villains. To leave you with a memorable quote from the movie... "You'd better stop it this time, and I mean it!" "...Would anybody like a peanut?"

Summary: A great, innocent, funny adventure
Review: With clever twists and irony typical of William Goldman, "The Princess Bride" delivers a fantastic story with rich cameos and even richer humor. Starting off with a boy (Fred Savage - Wonder Years) and his grandfather (Peter Falk-Columbo) reading to him, the story quickly becomes an apparent superficial adventure romp but actually an ironic and deeply moving story of love and loyalty. Loyalty is exemplified by a truly touching portrayal of "Andre the Giant" as appropriately 'the giant'. The book is a favorite among climbers in the US and the movie is an almost universal favorite for anyone lucky enough to have seen it. The sword fighting scene has some of the best fighting and funniest lines since Danny Kaye. Aside from watching this movie, my only other recommendation would be to read the book first as it is a fantastic delight and then the movie will be even more so.

Summary: the sweetest!
Review: This is such a sweet, cute movie, and really funny too. Makes me wish I had a girlfriend to watch it with. I love the three dumb kidnappers from the beginning, especially the little bald guy, hilarious! This almost seems like something from Jim Henson, yet there are no muppets around! Highly recommended for people of all ages!

Summary: The Compleat Fairy Tale
Review: This movie is probably the best cinematic fairy tale ever. If you don't like fairy tales, then forget about it. Then we won't have all those unsympathetic reviews for a movie that should be getting MORE than five stars! If you do like fairy tales and/or have children of any age, rent this one - then wait for the "collector's edition DVD" to come out next year. Basically this movie is a reworking of every classic adventure story and fairy tale that ever existed. Everything is over the top but done so well, it seems more believable than a more "serious" version would have been. Some reviewers have called this a parody of all those movies. I would call it more of an homage, because William Goldman knows all about the power of cliches. He isn't making fun of them, he's using them like almost no other screenwriter can to tell a story of undying love, revenge, justice, pirates and rodents of unusual size.

Review: One of the great fairy-tales of our times. This movie truely has it all: action, adventure, romance, humor, and classic dialogue that you can listen to over and over again. This movie is great for kids and adults alike.
