Summary: Jackie Chan doing what he does best!
Review: An ok story of the 8 masters sudden disappearence leads to Su <Jackie Chan>. Jackie is as young as you'll ever see him and still a master or Martial Arts. The final scene of the movie is one to cherish. Also check out the Drunken Master series.

Summary: Best of Jackie's Lo-Wei Films
Review: Before obtaining more artistic control over his films, Jackie Chan churned out several low budget chop-socky flicks fo Lo-Wei, director of Bruce Lee's "The Chinese Connection". Despite this rather impressive credit, Lo-Wei possessed unfounded delusions of competence. The vast majority of the Chan films that he directed have only one bright spot: Jackie Chan. By far, "Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin" is the best of these early Chan films. "Snake and Crane" focuses on various kung-fu schools and factions fighting Chan for the possession of a martial arts instructional book. (The story is better than it sounds.) At any rate, this means that the entire movie becomes one long fight scene after another, interspersed with comical attempts to "charm" the book out of Chan. Chan's co-stars all fight and act with some credibility, an element often absent in other Lo-Wei efforts. If possible, I would give "Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin" 3 & 1/2 stars. Since I rate Bruce Lee's "The Chinese Connection" at 4 stars, this should give some indication of the quality of "Snake and Crane."

Summary: The movie is boring, but the kung fu makes up for most of it
Review: I think this movie has pretty good looking kung fu, especially at the end of the movie. You won't believe how long the last fight scene is-nearly seven minutes long! The other fight scenes throughout this movie are okay, although sometimes the movements seem a bit slow. Though the action is good, I think everything else pretty much stinks. I mean when there isn't any fighting, the movie is just plain boring. The storyline just isn't interesting enough. Throughout the movie, Jackie meets like a whole bunch of stupid characters. The most annoying one is this stupid old man who keeps appearing from nowhere. The movie also has very bad lighting. In some parts of the movie, like in the dark, you can't even see anything. If you like watching kung fu, and don't care about a stupid storyline, then you should go and buy this one. You can watch the movie over and over again just for the amazing fight scenes.

Summary: Old-school classic!
Review: I would say that along with Drunken Master I and Snake in the Eagles Shadow, Snake & Crane Arts of Shaolin is one of Jackie's best movies. Throughout most of the movie, Chan uses an internal southern crane style (recognizable by his flapping hand). The only negative comment I have about the movie is that the final fight scene is a bit too short in order to really see the "Snake & Crane" technique.

Summary: This movie is okay
Review: If you like Jackie Chan's old Kung-Fu movies, then you'll like this one. It doesn't have the slap-stick of his later movies when he exerted more control over his films, but it has some good fighting, and somehow Jackie's charming personality manages to come through. This one is unusual in that Jackie's character is a self-assured King-Fu master at the beginning, not the Keatonesque under-dog of his later films. Worth the price of a rental!

Summary: Jackie at his BEST
Review: Ladies and Gentlemen, you have found it. The cream of the crop! This kung-fu flick has got to be in the top 5 of the greatest kung-fu movies ever made. This film has everything: unbelievable fight scenes (with the snake and crane styles), hilarious slapstick and a cocky jackie. I would give this one 6 stars if i could. Trust me, one of the best! The dubbing is pretty funny (jackie's voice is hilarious) and the storyline is pretty good too. (for a kung-fu flick) This one is a little harder to find, but if you come across it, don't you dare pass it up. you won't regret it.
