Summary: Top Dog- Top Notch!
Review: I picked up this film for a good time and some good laughs. Needless to say, it did not disappoint. Norris is in top form as an aging cop who is a maverick in every sense of the word. Then he is matched up with Reno (played by an incredible canine actor) and they go to give some white supremisists the business. It is only through these highly covert, extremely complicated missions on the trail of the Nazis that Norris finds redemption in himself, and then in his hedonistic world. A must for the kids!

Summary: This movie is terrible!!!!
Review: I'd rather stick a lit firecracker down my shorts than endure the agony that is this movie. As an actor you know your career is basically over when you go from macho action star to playing in family movies pretending to be action films. If you are a hardcore fan of chuck norris and are over the age of 8 this movie is not for you. I thought that Hellbound was the worst Chuck Norris film ever, but this one takes the cake.

Review: I've been a fan of Chuck Norris since I was 8, and that was long time ago. Although much older now, I DO appreciate a "macho action star" playing in family movies. I strongly believe that family movies are the once people could use more, rather than the increasing violent, perverse and evil exploring films made in the recent years. The fact that a star like Norris is appealing to the American family may have to do with his closer relationship with God. In the same context, the fact that he is trying to send a message to the public through many of his recent shows has become hard to miss. If more Hollywood stars did that, maybe we would all live in a better world. Good work Chuck!

Review: Ok. This movie probably doesn't really deserve 5 stars, but I did it too bring up the average rating. It is not a big ninja move if that's what your looking for. It's about a cop and his dog stopping terrorists, with some comedy it there too.

Summary: Bad to the bone
Review: Once again Chuck Norris brings shame the name of Karate. Chuck Norris's fights are so slow and lame that you think the dog could beat him up. For instance... I think everybody who spends two days in a Karate class knows the first thing to do when somone puts you in a headlock is to stomp on their foot. sure there are a billion things you can do to somone who can't lock your neck right, but White belts who are just beginning learn right off the bat the concept of headlock=footstomp! Chuck on the otherhand is put into a poor headlock for a little over a minute standing up before it finally clicks in him to step on the guys foot! Then of corse is the normal Chuck Norris symptom of combos where he does one move... after another...catches his breath... throws another, ect. everything is impractical. Only the extreamly gullable children could respect this stuff. As far as the plot goes, there are a few good lines a lot of bad acting and a long scene where a two foot dog yips at an armed man from ten feet away until he becomes so frightenedd he confesses to the whole plot. Too grown up for children too childish for grownups and too much dispecable nonsense for the living brain

Summary: Top Dog=Top Movie
Review: This movie is amazing. Chuck Norris brings his legendary action/acting skills to the screen. If you don't own this DVD for your collection, you are missing out. Not only does this DVD contain the entire movie, but it also has a Chapter Selection feature. The one thing I would do to improve this movie is to maybe have the dog talk. Other than that, this is an instant classic.

Summary: Worst Movie Ever
Review: This movie should never have been made. Everyone that was a part of this movie wasted their time and effort. Chuck Norris is cool to watch and to do karate and stuff. He should star in a movie where all that happens is fighting. Watching grass grow is a better use of your time, than watching a movie about a police officer where his partner is a DOG. I saw this movie before.....it was called "Turner and Hooch." Chuck Norris needs to stick with his roles as fighting and not do any more family oriented movies such as this one. He is good at fighting and karate, and that is exactly what he should stick with.

Review: Watching this movie will make you not only question your sanity, but the filmakers as well. This brutal movie comes from the same men that brought you, what will someday be considered the most utterly ridiculous televsion show ever broadcast, "Walker:Texas Ranger". I give the movie five stars for the same reason I'll buy every season of Walker when it's released on DVD:Absolute hilarity! This movie is so completely ridiculous, anyone with a sense of humor will be laughing from start to finish.

Summary: Not really worth it
Review: When Reno the Dog's cop companion, Lou Swanson (Carmine Caridi), is killed by a 'white supremacist' group of terrorists, he gets teamed up with tough cop Jake Wilder (Chuck Norris) to bring the bad guys down.
As you may have noticed, my movie summary for "Top Dog" was done in one whole sentence. That's because the story itself is quite simple for all audiences. It's the classic formula: good guys vs. bad guys. There are no `in-betweens' or `switching' of the good and bad so it's easy to keep track of who-is-who.
Unfortunately, though the classic formula `good vs. bad' most often works well, "Top Dog" had more `bad moviemaking' going for it than any `good moviemaking' to make this movie worth watching. Of course, it IS entertaining, but how far will one go to be `just' entertained?
Chuck Norris, never really being known for his acting abilities, seems at times to be enjoying himself but on the whole, he just lets everything flow on its own. Not once does he try to make his character his own, unique one. But that could be because the director does not really give him a chance to really do anything.
Instead, the audience is made to suffer somewhat by having to endure a bigger version of `Benji' for the hero of the film. There were mixed reviews on Amazon as to whether they liked Reno or not but in my opinion, Reno just did not impress. While, no doubt about it, we are continually made to believe that Reno is very intelligent (and sometimes he IS), there are times where he's just annoying. The ending was too contrived and moments where Reno is supposed to be cute just doesn't come out well. To sum up, everything Reno does is nothing special. If you've seen other `dog' movies like "K-19" or "Turner and Hooch", there is nothing in "Top Dog" which you haven't seen before.
The music was also badly done, especially the scene where the terrorists are trying to take out Chuck Norris at his house. The whole scene is supposed to be exciting, but the music utterly throws all suspense out. And... the terrorists are wearing clown masks?!?!
Ultimately, I believe that the main thing that went wrong with "Top Dog" is that the filmmakers couldn't quite make up their minds whether to make this a movie for children or for adults. While rated PG-13, the movie seems to be aimed for a younger audiences with having Reno the Dog as a main character. But at the same time, having terrorists and some violence would have children turning away, especially the murder of Lou Swanson. Adults however will probably be repelled from the storyline and the fact of having Reno the Dog in the story.
So, in conclusion, "Top Dog" can hardly be considered a classic so I really won't put this on my `recommend to others' list. My advice, if you still want to watch the movie, probably better to rent than actually buy it. Trust me, it's not worth it. The only thing that might interest viewers is watching Chuck Norris `do his thing', or shall we say, using his fighting skills. But definitely not top-notch stuff compared to other kung fu movies.
