Rating: Summary: Doesn't really fit into the regular story! Review: I remember watching the movies and the old show. I think this is new show. The main characters(Ryu and Ken)are younger then on the orginal show and on the movies and games. Even so, this is a great anime. The first dvd ends where Ryu learns about ki and blue flame. (Haduken anyone?) Not much fireballs like Haduken and tiger so far. But there did have Ken do his uppercut and Guile do his uppercut kick. The fighting scenes are great, I like how they do some affects like fatal fury, forexample when they get punched really hard they cough up blood. But most of the time you only see bruises on their faces. This is a great anime if you have money. There will be about 10 more dvds coming out. Great anime to watch!
Rating: Summary: Street Fighter and martial arts fans will love this. Review: If you are a martial arts, Street Fighter or anime fan, you should do yourself a favor and pick up Street Fighter II V. I am a fan of all three and my enjoyment with this DVD was very high. I like how they retold the Street Fighter mythos, instead of just rehashing the same story from the video games. I think Ryu and Ken are very interesting people and there adventures moved at such an exciting and fast pace, I couldn't stop watching until the entire DVD was over. The first volume is my favorite. The first episode really gets you on Ryu and Ken's side and you can't wait to see how they will become world class street fighters. The animation was great, especially the martial arts sequences. I really like how they drew all the Street Fighter guys and the original characters were also very well drawn. The sound is great. I prefer the english dub over the japanese voices with subtitling, but thankfully both options are available with this DVD. The opening and closing theme music are great. Street Fighter II V is my favorite martial arts anime. Try to find the box set instead of buying each individual volume though, because you won't want to miss a single episode. This DVD is worth owning.
Rating: Summary: Pretty good... Review: If you don't have high expectations this is a good DVD to buy. Since this is only the beginning of the series the story doesn't really hit the runway til the third episode, and it doesn't take off until the fifth episode. The music leaves something to be desired, but the action is good. Though I'm hoping it improves with the next volume, I am not at all disapointed in this DVD.
Rating: Summary: Street Fighter the way it was meant to be!!!! Review: It's a great beginning to a great video game based series. The animation is great. The plot fits nicely into the story. There's lots of fighting scenes. The english dub is pretty good. This dvd has a total of seven ,30 minute episodes. Rating: Summary: An excelent beginning! Review: S.F.IIV marks the beginning of a new genegeration of S.F.This movie is pretty similar to S.F.II and all the events of it comes before S.F.II the animated movie. If you haven't seen the movie or you already watched it but didn't get it,this anime would be an excelent option to know more about Street Fighter. The animation is great and the action scenes even better,I absolutely recomend this one. This anime is a blast!!!
Rating: Summary: Avrage Anime Review: Street Fighter has earned a great reputation in all its games and anime over the year, and this series is no exception. The reason i gave it only 3 stars, is the flow of events doesnt really pick up til about the fifth episode. They used some very cheezy music and made the series seem almost childish. But dont get me wrong, when the series picked up, it was well worth the money, and by the last episode, i immidately wanted to go out and buy the next dvd. Give this series a shot and wait it out, you wont be disapointed
Rating: Summary: Great SF Show, Average Anime Movie Review: The first thing people have to realize is that this is a collection of TV SHOWS. It's not a feature length movie so don't expect that kind of quality. Second, EVERY SF FAN MUST BUY THIS. The story is considerably different from the original stories for the games but it's still very interesting and entertaining. Lots of decent action, solid animation and good character development. Because this is a tv show, if you don't plan on buying all 4 don't buy it at all because it will leave you hanging. The animation is just average. It's solid so that it doesn't bother me, but it's no Ninja Scroll or Macross. The story however is so good that whenever each episode ends I find myself wondering how the last 30 minutes passed so quickly. No real DVD features aside from the language options. Also, I never had any of the DVD problems that some of the other reviewers mentioned. No static on the screen, no problems with episode selections, etc. Everything worked to perfection. One last warning, because this was made for TV, it is a bit light hearted and somewhat childish at times. There's even a major part dedicated to Chun Li shopping. Just take it for what it's worth, a solid SF series that is a GOD SEND for any SF fan.
Rating: Summary: Better Than The Movie But Not Without Flaws Review: This series is based on the hit video game. It's 29 episodes long and spans four DVDs. The first three DVDs contain seven episodes each, and the fourth DVD contains eight episodes. Unfortunately, the DVDs has few extras. There are some anime DVD previews, info on other titles, links to Internet sites, and a remix of the theme song. The fourth DVD has a trailer for "Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie", which is unrelated to the V ("Victory") series. Also, the DVDs (at least my copies, which I watch on my computer monitor) have an annoying flaw. Whenever the camera shot changes, the very top and very bottom of the screen has static or something. The DVDs are bilingual. The English dub is mostly accurate, but there are many differences in the dialogue. My advice is to watch it in Japanese with English subtitles first and then in English. Sometimes, I like to watch DVDs in English with English subtitles. It allows me to easily see the changes in dialogue. The "Street Fighter II V" DVDs don't give you that option, but I'm able to do it using the DVD Player program on my computer. One big problem that I have with the audio is that the theme song has been changed in the Japanese audio track as well. Never mess with the original audio track! As for the series itself, it's a lot better than the movie. There is room for a lot of characters. Blanka fans will be disappointed. He doesn't appear. The series takes some creative liberties, such as making Ken, Ryu, and Chun Li teenagers, but that's fine. The series is mostly about Ken and Ryu, but Chun Li is also developed nicely. Unfortunately, the final episode is mostly about Ken and Ryu's battle with Bison, leaving only a small amount of time for the ending. Several plots go unresolved. Spoilers Ahead. Does Chun Li's father survive, or does he die? This is an important part of the plot, and we'll never get an answer. We don't even see Fei Long tell Chun Li that her father is in the hospital. Does Cammy come to Chun Li and admit that she tried to murder her father? The series wastes a large amount of time with redundancies. Each episode begins with a recap of the previous episode. After that, the final scene of the previous episode is replayed and leads into the current episode. At the end of each episode, there's a preview of the next episode. On the fourth DVD, half of one of the episodes consists of a recap of previous episodes. What was the point? Also, there are lots of instances of panning camera shots of still or nearly-still pictures; Ken and Ryu charging up their special attacks; and characters running around, trying to get someplace. Near the end of the series, I was thinking "They could've shortened this" every minute or so. One episode could easily have been trimmed from this series without any loss in plot or characterization - perhaps more. I'm guessing that the production team was trying to make more money with less animation. If even five minutes had been cut from the final episode (which could have easily been done), then they could have added Fei Long arriving on the island and telling Chun Li about her father, Chun Li at the hospital, Cammy talking with Chun Li, simultaneous funerals for Guile's friend Nash and Chun Li's father Dorai, and Ken being reunited with his parents. Instead, the only thing that's resolved is the threat of Bison. You'd think that, with 29 episodes, they'd be able to finish what they started. Overall, this is an enjoyable series, but Chun Li (and perhaps Cammy) fans will be disappointed with the ending.
