Summary: GORGEOUS! simply speaks for itself
Review: I assumed that whoever gonna read this review is a truly or maybe just a normal jackie chan fan just like me. I have seen & collect almost every Jackie Chan films from laser disc, vcd to especially dvd. And trust me if your a collector of dvd like me definitely include GORGEOUS you wont regret it. One, the movie is not a stereotype of a Jackie Chan movie, the movie is very unique. It perfectly combines all the elements for a good movie, it is basically a romantic movie with lots of humour, but without being cheesy. Although there's not too many fight scenes in this movie, but the fight scene you will see in this movie is just truly out of this world, guaranteed that you have never seen before. Second, Tony Leung's character in this movie is hilarious and unusual, if you are familiar with this actor, it's been a long time since he played this type of role, in fact if i remember correctly, i've never seen him play this kind of character before. He really adds color to the movie. And lastly, check out the dvd it is fully loaded, this is a breakthough for a Jackie Chan dvd, i own most of his dvd titles and next to Rush Hour, nothing is as loaded as this specially since it is a Hong Kong production. Special features include behind the scene footage, plus! dig the music video featuring the movie soundtrack, it's truly magical! You will never tire of listening to the theme, it is that great!

Summary: A new direction for Jackie Chan
Review: Jackie's doubts that he can play a romantic lead, as expressed in his commentary on the DVD, is unnecessary. He presents a persona of charm, sensitivity, masculine competence, and life-skillthat I admire a great deal more than some of the foolish characters he's played before. And as always, he knows how to use every element possible in a fight, including defeat, to play on the audience. The fights tell a story and introduce unexpected elements, as always, and the action is as good and I must say more beautiful than ever, especially kick boxing one-on-one with one of his real life sparring partners, Brad Alan. However, because he is psychologically so powerful, his leading lady, a brilliant and heart-touching young actress of whom I hope to see more, seems as likely to outmanuever him as a fawn caught in headlights. The ending lacks suspense because of this.( Keep the heroine just as she is- she was delightful, a darling. A few plot changes could have put the hero more on trial romantically.) However, it is a sweet film, full of light, beauty, porpoises for the kids and a fairy tale atmosphere for all of us who are tired of movies about dark and awful things. The cast of supporting characters is very good as well. It is a generous film which gives every character a chance to display personality and humor, and this one does it in aces. Also, as much as we miss Jackie's singing, and I do like it, the duet theme by two other young artists is very effective. Also as usual, Jackie's editing requires audience thought. "How did . . . oh, yeah, I see" ran through my head a few times, but in the long run, it is fun to be an intelligent participant in the story.

Summary: The best is yet to come.
Review: Alright. Jackie may be on the older side of forty, but I swear on my life I couldn't tell. Sure we can compare this movie to his older, more stunt oriented flicks, but we all know fighting is where Jackie shines the brightest. The fights in this movie, particularly the two one-on-one bouts are awesome. Personally, I feel the one-on-one showdown is the most breath-taking showcase for Jackie's skills. And remember, he's like forty something. Keep that in mind and the action in this movie will most definitely blow your mind.

Summary: One Of Jackie's Best Films
Review: Gorgeous is a funny, talented, action packed movie. There weren't that many fighting scenes, but thats what everyone base Jackie Chan films on, the fighting. So what if there less fighting? If the movie has a good story I'll watch.

Anyway, I did enjoy this film very much. Its a must see for all Jackie Chan fans.

Review: This is one my wife and like for different reasons. It was, by american standards, a hoaky film. But, it's Jackie Chan! It's a love story with some non-blood fight scenes. Ok, BOXING scenes. If you going to get the film, get the DVD to see the behind the scenes stuff. Brad Allen, who fights with Jackie, was cast specifically cast because he was smaller and faster the jackie. Seems hard to beleive? Watch the film. Those of who kickbox or like to watch it will be taken to school.

Summary: Not bad
Review: As Chan's movies go i didnt think this was one of his better ones. but it does have some interesting characters, jacki's rival in it is by far my favorite. alot of good fight scenes and some new faces which was good. overall good fun and not overly serious which makes a nice change. worth a watch if you like action or are a fan of chan.

Summary: Definitely a must see
Review: This was a fun film that, while not having an abundance of fight scenes, has enough to keep the action fan attentive. Also, the one-on-one fight scenes between Chan and what's-his-face are some of the best since Chan's two bouts with the Jet. If you like Chan, you'll like this.

Summary: Great Movie, Poor Subtitle/Dub
Review: I first caught Gorgeous at Anime Expo 2000 where it was shown in it's original subtitled form and it was one of the best movies I've seen all year. Great plot, written by Jackie Chan himself, with enough of his acrobatics to keep any man interested in what is basically a romance movie.

However, upon viewing the DVD and VHS versions, the english dubbing on both is terrible with many mistranslations/poor re-writing in which many of the jokes are lost. The same is said for the DVD subtitling as well. There were also several scenes that were deleted that, while not important to the plot, presented more of the story, especially at the end.

So, while still a great movie the VHS/DVD doesn't do it justice.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: Don't let anyone tell you this is just a romance movie for Jackie. Almost two decades of watching Jackie movies and THIS one may be the best I've ever seen because Brad Allen GOES OFF! Stunning battle sequences and a movie almost the whole family can watch! Forget stunts, Jackie is first and foremost a martial arts showman and he proves it here because he lets his protege, Allen, who's been a stunt guy in a few previous movies, really go to work! See it and believe!

Summary: Chan Vs. Allen - Gorgeous
Review: This is far from Jackie Chan's best film, however it still contains some great scenes and I would definately recommend to any true Chan fan. First off I have to applaud Columbia Tristar for including the Cantinese language option on the DVD. I have been waiting for someone to do this for a long time. Much of Jackie's redubbed Hong Kong movies have lost something in the translation to English. I would recommend that anyone who wants to view movies like First Strike, Operation Condor and Police Story 1 and 2 as they were originally intended should track down the Cantonese versions. Anyway, one of the best things about Gorgeous is the opportunity to see Jackie Chan in a new and different role as a business man. I applaud his attempts to continually try different roles. He displays an often unseen confidence in this role. I really love his English language films like Who Am I?, Mr Nice Guy and Shanghai Noon. However we all have to admit that his English is none to good and this will definately hinder him at times. The action scenes in Gorgeous are top notch and Brad Allen, his nemesis in the movies two outsatnding fights, is absolutely incredible. Jackie Chan may be approaching 50, however he still proves that he can still choreograph the best fights in the business. The movie is somewhat bogged down by 2-3 overly silly scenes, however this is a part of Jackie Chan's persona. Not his best film, however it is one that no Chan fan should miss.
