Summary: Hater aid?
Review: Kevin G from Cali seems to have taken a big drink of Hater Ade with his review, because although I wish there were more episodes on this dvd and that's the only reason I give it any less than four stars, it still has two of my favorites on it, runs over an hour and long, and has a super fun karaoke game function on it that I hope they never stop including on the rest of the dvds from the series. Dropping a little dough on this dvd to have it forever is a much better deal than coughing up those monthly bills for satellite tv...plus the dvd version is totally uncensored, which to me is way more funny to boot. Buy this and be happy.

Summary: too much $ for too little fun
Review: Kung Faux is Five Star entertainment but it's only about 3/5 of whast you get. The rest is ads. You also get cheated on time - there should be twice as many episodes for the money. Buy it used.

Summary: A modern masterpeice!
Review: Kung Faux is instantly cool & classic.
I used to be a big fan of the old kung fu movies, & to see what they've created by mixing them with hip hop music & slang, as well as video game & comic book stylings is awesome. The dialog does stay true to the original plot which is cool. The music works well w/ the kung fu fighting (the tracks are sweet) & it almost makes it like they're dancin instead of fighting.
I also like how they have the old batman style "POW!" & "BAM!" graphics that have been updated in modern tagger style.
The eletricity special effect that they add on is also one of my favorites.

I guess my biggest complaint is that there's only 1 DVD available.... I want to own each of the episodes that I've seen on TV.

It's also fun to watch because you get to update your slang lexicon... fo' sheezy!

I hope this catches on big overseas as it makes a great cultural export :D

Summary: Ta-Dow!...Kung Faux is da' King!
Review: Kung Faux is the King! in my book of the Kung Fu meets Hip Hop collabo's. This shizzy is the hizzy dawgs! It's super damn funny with the voices of such classic hip hop heroes as Gang Starr's "Guru", Brand Nubian's "Sadat X", & the X-ecutioners "Roc Raida"...I read that future episodes have voice overs from such artists as "Biz Markie", "Prince Paul" & even the legendary "Afrika Bambaataa". The music is slammin' with hit songs as well as bangin' tracks I don't think I have ever heard before, and the Power Rangers meets video game style special effects they have added make me feel like I am watching a live action comic book.
I guess that's why they call it "Comic Video". I even dug the little promo spots they had in their from such cool companies as Rockstar Games, And1 Sports, Zoo York Skateboards, & Hip Hop Honeys...what I love most of all though is the "karaoke game" function they have on the dvd that allows you to mute all of the dialogue, while still keeping all of the music & sound effects, so that you can make up your own dialogue while watching...I have wasted endless hours wilding out with this thing. I love it & I can't wait for all of the other DVD Volumes to come out...luckily i have Fuse.TV where "Kung Faux" is a regular Friday night tv series so that I can see what I will be looking forward to...and another bonus is that the dvd is "uncensored", while the TV show is "censored", I think I even saw some scenes on the dvd that i didn't see on tv...in any case, I know I definitely got more than my money's worth. Buy this then thank me later! ,,,

Summary: A VIDEO COMIC BOOK FOR A NEW GENERATION !
Review: Kung Faux reminds me of the coolest comic books I used to collect as a kid and hide from my mom. Besides having two jammed packed episodes full of great music, awesome special f/x art, bonus scenes not included in the tv series, and none of the censored bars and bleeps that are found on the tv series it also has short little promo spots in the breaks for things I would have never known about without picking up the dvd.The Kung Faux dvd promo spots turned me onto this backyard wrestling league that features guys who dress up and wrestle in Godzilla-like Japanese style rubber monster suits, this great website from Germany where you can download your own version of a flash style Kung Faux game that lets you remix your own old kung fu movie clips on your computer called a kung fu "re-mixer", a playboy style dvd series that features the hottest hip hop video girls gettin' nekkid, and this great hip hop artist who rhymes in Swedish and rocks as hard as anyone out there.
There were also ad spots from Rockstar Games: Grand Theft Auto/Vice City & And1 Streetball, but they were actually fun to see too, and like I said, that is what made it feel like a comic book to me. If you're a big kid like me, you remember the ads for x-ray glasses and sea-monkeys & you knew then that you could only find those ads in cool comic books, now you know you can find the next level of cool things in every volume of Kung Faux which I think is an example of a video comic book for a new generation raised on video games. I love discovering new things and some of those promo spots were only ten seconds long so they actually caused me to hit rewind a number of times just to see the ads again. I always wondered why nobody made tv shows as cool as the original Batman tv series, now some forty years later I have finally got my wish & the fun of feeling like I am picking up those comic books I used to hide from my mom again, except this time it's my wife I am hiding them from. Holla!

Summary: Kung Faux Rocks!
Review: Kung Faux Rocks! Lightening fast action, Hilarious one liners, Bugged out visuals, Slammin' music from the past & present, cameos from such artists as Biz Markie, Guru from GangStarr, Sadat-X, & Roc Raida from the X-ecutioners.
A "karaoke" funtion that lets me wild out my own dialogue, man this is some Mad Old School flavor with a visionary New Jack twist. I love it! Nuff said.

Summary: Great but...
Review: This has to be one of the funniest shows out there. Unfortunately this DVD suffers from having only the first two episodes (23 minutes a piece?) for a retail price of 20 bucks. AND what is the deal with having commercials included in each episode just like we were watching it on TV? Extras? Not. It really comes down to how much you like the show and if your willing to be overcharged. Personally I'll do it because the show is so good. Maybe Tommy Boy should just stick to CD's and leave the DVD's to other competent companies.

Summary: BUY THIS DVD IT IS HILLARIOUS
Review: This is one of the funniest things I have ever seen in my life. We're on vacation in Quebec, Canada and come back from the bars to see this on TV. It's basically a bunch of hip hop guys talkin' smack dubbed over old Kung Fu movies from the 70's and 80's. I was in tears from laughing so hard. You probably won't see this in the States, but it is worth every penny. You have absolutely no idea how FUNNY this is. BUY IT and you'll be glad you did.
