Summary: II worked with the movie crew
Review: I worked with the crew while in Pittsburgh, seeing what we had to work with and the way this movie turned out, I think that it is severely under rated

Summary: The best Van Damme movie so far
Review: I've seen just about all of Van Damme's movies and I have to say that I think "Sudden Death" is the best one so far. It's not your typical Van Damme movie when you compare it to most of his others. Most of his movies are mainly just fights throughout most of the film, which is always awesome. But I think it's even better when a fighting movie such as "Sudden Death" has more of a plot to it.

Someone kidnaps his daughter and is holding her and the Vice President captive. The man holding them hostage wants a lot of money or he will blow up the whole hockey arena. Van Damme must find a way to get his daughter back while saving everybody else in the arena.

"Sudden Death" is what all the other Van Damme movies isn't. It has a major storyline to it, great special effects, and even a few funny parts such as when Van Damme has to be a real goalie in the game to keep the badmen from finding him. If you're a Van Damme fan or if you like great action movies, "Sudden Death" is definitely for you.

Summary: Solid Action But Its All Been Done Before
Review: Jean cludde Van Damme needs to get a life and start making some rewarding films otherwise his carrer is finnished alongside another falling action star Steven Seagal. Sudden Death has all the good stunts and tough talking dialouge but it suffers from deja vu almost immedinatly after the opening credits. Die Hard And Under Siege this film can often be compared with. Van damme plays a fireman(original instead of a burned out cop or goverment agent)who takes his kids to the Stanley Cup Playoffs where Terroirsts Have taken control of the arena and hold the u.s president captive. The villian is so lame in this film he makes Elmer Fudd look more terifying. The tagline to this film was `Terror Goes Into Overtime` more like Boredom goes into Overtime.

Summary: Icy terrorist-hostage game
Review: Maybe the match between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Chicago Blackhawks just didn't seem to have enough action at the Civic Arena in Pittsburgh on ESPN, Jean Claude Van Damne plays a fire inspector who attends a Stanley Cup game when he encounters the terrorist who takes the vice-president hostage. His kids are also held hostage. He has until the end of regulation time before the terrorist bombs the arena with 16,000 screaming fans (not in panic but cheering on the Pens) for the Stanley Cup. Maybe next year, a senator will be kidnapped and held hostage at the Avalanche-Panthers finals.

Summary: Nobody messes up with Van Damme.
Review: One of my first collection when DVD hits the stores. Worth watching over & over coz it's packed with action. Van Damme just shines in this movie. He kills all the bad guys that messes around him with his clever abilities and quick movements without an overkill. 5 stars for Sudden Death.

Summary: An Entertaining Movie!
Review: One of the best Van Damme movies that I have seen. Van Damme plays the role of our heros very effectively. Powers Boothe is a very good villain. I also liked Powers Boothe cast of heavies. Of course they were no match for Van Damme. The movie kept me on the edge of my seat until it's conclusion. The hockey game championship atmosphere was also very effective. I also enjoyed the ending with Van Damme rescuing the Vice- President. Buy the movie,it is surprisingly good.

Summary: SUDDEN DEATH review!
Review: Pretty good DIE HARD rip-off has fire marshall Van Damme trying to save his kids and the Vice President from a rouge Secret Service agent who is planning on blowing up the seventh game of the Stanley Cup.

The plot is that simple. There really isn't much going on besides that so if you didn't like similiar moves than there probably isn't a whole lot here for you.

Summary: SUDDEN DIE HARD
Review: SUDDEN DEATH is another DIE HARD knock off, but it delivers nontheless. It has a pretty good director at the helm (Peter Hyams) and a pretty good cast (incl. Van Damme with veteran character actors Powers Boothe, and Dorian Harewood). Whereas hostages in DIE HARD were in a tall high-rise building, this one takes place at a hockey arena sky box during the Stanley Cup playoffs. Van Damme (Darren McCord) pulls off the role as the lone security guard trying to stop terrorists from blowing up the joint and at the same time, has his son and daughter at the game. There are pretty good action sequences and fight scenes with some humor thrown in the mixture. Most notable is when Van Damme tells his son (Ross Malinger) with great discipline that he can not leave his seat at any time during the game and the boy does just that. Even after the whole crowd has left the arena when the terrorists blow parts of it up, the boy is still in his seat. Another funny scene is when Van Damme actually suits up as one of the hockey players and ends up playing goalie for a few moments in the game. All in all, a very entertaining movie with some plot and scenes lifted from DIE HARD, SPEED and other movies of this nature.

Summary: VAN DAMME DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER
Review: Sudden Death is classic Van Damme - who else could fight the Pittsburgh Pengiuns mascot in a kitchen, pose as a pro hockey player and save the lives of a stadium full of people in the same movie? This movie works because it doesn't take itself seriously. To be honest, I think it's a laugh riot.
