Summary: Classic Cliched Anime
Review: If you watch this movie expecting a social narrative of Freudian proportions, you will be dissapointed. If you watch it expecting a hilarious, cliched action fest with cheesy quotes and brilliant fight scenes, you will love it to death. Often hilarious, always fun, Fist of the North star is perfect when you don't feel like being mentally challenged, and just feel like laying back and watching a damn good cartoon.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Flawed but worth watching.
Review: Okay, if you've seen this you either hate it or love it. If you have yet to see it you will either hate it or love it, it's one of those films. Those of you who tear it to pieces probably do so because of its absurdly serious violence, its lack-lustre animation and the preposterous script ( the bit where Rei slices a man in the head with an axe to be told 'I've got a splitting headache' really did make me wince). However, beneath this (very) flawed exterior lies quite a bit of meaning. The Taoist references at the beginning run through the film steadily (despite the best efforts of a poor dub and, of course, the absurd violence to mask them). It also contains serious messages about how we should stop living for the moment and how fragile life is. This isn't going to stop people hating it nor is it, probably, going to convince the style-over-content action jocks amongst you to look for something a bit more cerebral beneath the gallons of blood. It is a shame because the manga was very good and with a more restrained director and script writer this could have been something of a classic with its references to ancient Chinese folklore and an interesting initial concept.

Summary: pointless yeah right this thing is awsem!
Review: if your like me and you like action and blood in a movie than ge this movie its the best of the blood and guts. The only thing i thought it was lacking was the animation, it was'nt as good as say akira but im not marking it down for that!

Summary: Fisting the North Star
Review: Godawful. This is worse than Vampire Hunter D And Ninja Rersurrection. Save your money.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Worse than dribble.
Review: For those of you who are consumed by the "style" displayed in this movie, please keep moving. If you ever have any access to Ronin Kenshin, you will know just how bad this movie really is. There is better fighting out there, so try and find it.

Summary: One of the greats
Review: For those that believe that this movie was bad or terrible, they are gravely mistaken. This isnt the best manga that I have ever seen, but it is up there. The concept and plot is a bit lacking, but the martial arts (such as the hoku to hyaku retsu ken) are excellently animated. A must see for all manga fans.

Summary: Look deep to find the style
Review: Gore is nothing. That is not the reason why this is good. The martial arts moves are awesome, and are innovative to any anime. The reason this movie is awesome is because of one thing- style. When in the heat of the battle, the main character always calmly walks toward the enemy like it's nothing. He is just awesome. It's like nothing can touch him. Plus the song near the end, "Heart of Madness" is simply awesome.

Summary: yawn...
Review: when this type of mindless ultra-violence is repeated over and over and over again it just gets boring. Oh boy, he punched a guy in the head, I wonder if his head will explode like the other thirteen opponents... guess so. Imagine this, over and over again and you have "Fist of the North Star" in a nutshell. The plot is nothing special. The animation is not top-notch. Still, some of the characters were half-way interesting... until they died brutally with lots of arterial spray.

Summary: Avoid this dribble
Review: Japanese animation is awesome, but Fist of the North Star(Hokuto no Ken) doesn't do it justice. Potentially a good series, this movie plays through events inanely. If you have seen this movie than you would have noticed the similarities to Mad Max (earth after nuclear holocaust, street thugs pillage and murder the innocent). I also have to say that the dubbing is terrible, which is one of the reasons I was turned off by this movie. If you really want to see FNS, see the OAV television series, they are much better.
