Summary: Seagal is Good; Forsythe is Better
Review: This is a movie where Seagal is actually upstaged. In his role as Gino Felino, a man from "the hood" who is also a cop, Seagal goes after Richie Madano (WIlliam Forsythe) a crack head who killed Seagal's partner. But in this movie Seagal is a cop who doesn't play by anybody's rules but his own. His marriage is on the rocks, he's a maverick but even in that the cops allow him to take a shotgun and a car to search out Richie. Forsythe is so talented. I've seen about eight of his movies and he shows his acting ability in every single one of them. This time he's a crackhead and he does that very convincingly. He is able to harass and shoot up an entire neighborhood as Felino just misses catching up with him several times. Seagal is at his intimidating best, walking into a pool hall, "Has anybuddy in here seen Richie? Does anybuddy know why somebody would wanna kill Bobby Lupo? I ain't gonna leave until somebuddy tells me who killed Bobby Lupo!" The fight scene at movie's end, between Forsythe and Seagal is well -choreographed and very brutal. Seagal fans: this flick is a must.

Review: This movie is definately action packed with it's share of violence. Steven Seagal is wonderful as a "Brooklin born" cop willing to go the extra mile to catch a killer. This movie is well written because it shows the viewers that even policemen have difficult jobs going after bad criminals, even if it is a friend. I thought that this movie was one of Steven Seagal's best!I would encourage any fan of his to definately add it to your collection!

Review: With apologies to the writer of the first review, Aikido (spelled with an extra 'i') is an amazing martial art with spritual value beyond punching and kicking.

Seagal, a 7th degree black belt, is aware of this, and is adept at incorporating it into his hollywood features, and makes for much enjoyment and a couple "Ouch, that one had to hurt" comments

Out for Justice is not for the weak of heart, but if you can slip by the obscenities and violence, keep an open mind, and be attentive, this is a plethora of martial arts action, and plenty of busted heads!

Parents of pre-teenagers beware, seagal is on the hunt!

Summary: NO JUSTICE WITH THIS DVD
Review: You'll be out for justice if you get suckered into buying this DVD! Although I have been a Seagal fan since his first movie, this one is possibly his worst, and coupled with this sorry DVD transfer, was rather painful to watch. It starts with promise -- the bad guy shows his henchmen a stash of cash he has in an underground vault. Where did he get it from? Possibly an armored car heist? Maybe they've got some drug smuggling ring? Who knows? Not the viewer, because it's never mentioned again! So, all through the movie, Seagal chases after this guy, with everyone wondering why the bad guy is going around killing people ... just as the audience is wondering why they're watching it!

Now about the DVD transfer: image quality is not what you have come to expect from DVD. Warner Bros. really screwed this one up. Contrast is poor, with black being noticeably washed out in some scenes, like you're watching the movie with the brightness control turned all the way up. The sound is faulty, too: there's one scene on the street in front of a crowd, where we are distracted from the dialogue by wondering, "Why are faint crowd noises with accentuated upper-frequencies coming out of my right speaker?" There are several other unbelievable lapses in consciousness on the part of the sound mixer: once when Seagal fires a gun in the air in a bar, and another time when a police car rams through the side of a garage -- both of these sound effects are reproduced softer than the dialogue. In all, the errors in sound mixing destroy the believability of some of the scenes by presenting an unnatural-sounding mix that violates the natural physics of sound travel and perception.

If you want a good Seagal DVD, buy Under Seige. Warner Bros. did an excellent job on that transfer(both picture and sound), which makes the poor job on Out For Justice even more criminal.
