Summary: Like a boot in the head.
Review: I actually saw this movie in theaters, and I left with a pain inside me so fiery and searing that I thought my appendix had burst (I hope that's spelled correctly).

This movie basically sat on my head, attempting to crush it. There was no plot of any kind. Just fight after fight after fight after fight after fight I can't take it anymore AAAUUURRRRGGGHHH (sounds of wrists being slit). Every five minutes there was a long and pointless fight scene in which no blood was spilled (huh?) and nothing was accomplished. Characters were introduced and abandoned all the time. None of the actors did anything that even remotely qualifies as acting. Johnny Cage, who was the only interesting character in the original, was killed two minutes into the movie, and you never see him again. And Rayden for some reason transforms into a mortal, wherein his hair gets cut short, his clothes turn purple, he dies, then is reborn at the end of the movie.

Who wrote this?

The special effects were terrible. I swear the monster battle at the end was used with stop-motion animation. And I saw the Sindel thing coming a mile away (you're back to normal! Oops, she was kidding).

Summary: Bad acting, bad writing, bad direction, bad effects, bad characters, bad costumes, and a flamingly gay god of lightning. As cheap and predictable as an episode of "Power Rangers", only somehow worse. Avoid.

Summary: Too many characters
Review: There were far too many characters in this second movie as well as a half brained soundtrack. Rather than the first movie being about good vs. evil this is more like a Mad Max type movie where Kang, Blade, Jax, Rayden and the new Sub are set to roam the outworld. Fighting whomever comes. Lots of people come too because this movie covers MK2 and MK3, causing there to be 30 second fights. Then the last fight of the movie is a three on three battle which causes you to start getting into one fight and then they cut to another pair of people fighting, it is like watching a high budget Power Rangers.

Summary: Good Fights, NO PLOT
Review: Let me start out saying to those who will end up reading this if you ever think of getting this movie. Only get this if your sitting home on a Saturday afternoon, with nothing on TV, you don't have a girlfriend or wife to be with, or have a slick car to drive. I bought this movie because I just like to sit in front of the TV and not think sometimes. Let me say outright this movie helps you do just that. The plot is totally incosequential. Watch the movie to see people whomping on each other if your looking for a movie that has a plot and follows the Mortal Kombat style. Watch the first one it will do you better. This one was worth it to me as I just like to veg out. The movie's campy plot will leave you wondering why you paid for this movie. So just wait for it on cable. But, if you ever just wanna kill time. Buy this movie. I leave it up to you.

Summary: Great movie, but it has many faults
Review: ... In this one, there was pleanty of action. The fighting scenes look a lot better and more realistic than the first movie, and Liu Kang's Animality was a good feature. The plot of the movie is basically that Shao Kahan decided to break the rules of the tournament and have it again even though it was not allowed for another generation. He is going to merge the Out World with the real World, and that will kill all of the humans and animals on Earth.

The movie is great. But there are a few problems. In Mk1, the actors looked a little more like they did in the games.(Like Raiden and Sonya.) Liu Kang was good in the movie, except he did not do any of his signature moves. Every other character did at least one of their moves from the game (Jax with the ground pound, Sonya with the hand stand, Raiden with the shooting into the person... etc.) Why did Johnny Cage have to die so soon? He was funny!!! The fighting scenes were a little bit too long, and I was kind of upset when Sub Zero left and was not seen for the rest of the movie.

Even though the movie had these problems, it was a great movie,...

Summary: AVOID
Review: A horrible movie. Not even fans of the game will like this one. The first movie was good, but the sequel falls incredibly short. It tried to leap across the Grand Canyon with two broken legs and no safety net. Bad, i know, i'll stop now. Horrible acting and a terrible plot, however it is the dialogue that does this movie in. "Grrrr.....how'd you like that? Grrr....that was my....Animality....grrrrr". Just do yourself a favor and avoid this movie. If you saw the first one and you need a sequel, go to your local arcade and play the game itself.

Summary: Terrible
Review: Don't get me wrong, I am not giving it one star for being what it is. I am a huge fan of the game series and actually loved the first film. That one was well done. 'MK Annihilation' is so bad it's too hard too overlook its faults, and I've tried. This idea should have been scrapped ever since word of the original actors wouldnt return. From the pathetic treatment of the characters (Johnny Cage? C'mon) to lame attempts at using everything from the games (Sonja finding Jax with his new arms all alone was a laughable scene, and Sektor and Cyrus were underused) it just stunk all around. Only worth it for the fight scenes and enjoyable actors like Robin Shou and Talia Soto. Otherwise, stay far away.

Summary: Not as bad as people say
Review: I recently purchased this movie and its predecessor. I've always loved the first one, but I remembered the second one being less than OK. Having watched it again, I realized that I underestimated it. Plot-wise it is more involved than the first. I believe that if Paul Anderson had directed this one, it may have been better than the first. Unfortunately, John R. Leonetti really didn't know how to make an MK movie (incidently, Leonetti was the Director of Photography on the first MK). The costumes are laughable at best, and the sets are also a little obvious. One is also left to wonder why Bridgette Wilson, Linden Ashby, Gregory McKinney and Christopher Lambert did not reprise their roles in the sequel. The lack of Wilson in particular is a loss, since she brought a level of strength and depth to Sonya which is missing in Sandra Hess' interpretation. James Remar is surprisingly acceptable as Rayden, though he is no Christopher Lambert. Lynn Red Williams is genuinely funny as Jaxx (why the second "x"? It was spelled "Jax" in the game.), and Brian Thompson makes a good dispicable villain out of Shao Kahn.

I do have a few pet peeves about certain inaccuarcies in the film. First and formost, Jade is NOT supposed to be Asian. They weren't even close on that one. Anyone who has ever played the game knows that Jade is a Hispanic toned recoloration of Kitana. Secondly, in John Tobias' illustrations, Shao Kahn had a row of spikes on top of his head. These are clearly missing, but I guess that can be excused since few people know that, and it made his story more acceptable (a very nice plot twist is involved with him). And third, many of the popular or just plain cool characters are either missing, or have a very small part. Kung Lao, Kabal, Stryker, Sektor and Kintaro have all been omitted. Rain, Johnny Cage and Nightwolf have very little to do. Rain and Cage are killed off very early in the movie, and Nightwolf's part is a little out of character. Oh, on a similar note, the "Animalities" are, like in the game, incredibly stupid and unneccessary.

All gripes aside, the fights are cool, the story's more present, the comedy's...well...funny; and though production value is low, the entertainment value is about the same as the first movie. By the way, I've heard there is a third movie in production based on MK4. Let's hope they do that one right.

Summary: A pretty cool movie, if you are an MK fan
Review: This movie is really neat, however, I think only if you are a Mortal Kombat fan you will really like it. The movie is not boring, because it has many action parts, and you start to get very interested in the movie. The movie may have some scenes that look really fake (especially some of the computer animated parts) but doesn't make it a horrible movie. If you want to see most of your favorite fighters from MK, some great action scenes, and some really cool special effects, I advise you get this movie.

Summary: Describing this movie in one word is easy.
Review: CRAP! This is basically nothing more than an hour and a half advertisement for a game! The characters fly on the screen and are gone the next! I swear the director had a checklist of every character that he had to use! (OK OK, next scene we gotta put this dude in, a lot of kids like him..........OK print it, he's in the movie, next!)

The fights were ridiculous and whatever morphing techniques they used were like campy 50's sci-fi. Like I said, this movie was an advertisement. Play the game and you've seen the movie.

Summary: ridiculous
Review: this film is absolutely ridiculous, the fights are bad,the only good visual effect in the whole film is motaro, the attempt to include the animalities has been absolutely horrible. trust me don't even bother watching this.the first film had some cool fights and was pretty good for a film based on a VG but there's nothing good about this one, throw your money elsewhere.
