Summary: Great Classic
Review: There were two different DVDs I know of that were released. One of them was the bad one everyone is complaining about and rightly so. The other one is far better. Unfortunately, I bought the bad one first and bought the other version because I like this movie a lot. It's the usual Chang Cheh death and destruction fare but the plot is actually quite good for a martial arts film. You can actually sympathize with the heroes as they each get killed off for an honorable cause (protecting and transporting gold to famine victims). Each hero duels with an appropriate adversary but Kuo Chiu as the agent Hai To steals the show. Lo Meng's best line: "Don't worry. I'll avenge you. These men...are all going to die." Best fights: ALL! Some favor the Long Ax Short Ax versus Silver Spear fight, but I like the duel between Hai To and Golden Arm the most (or maybe the Hai To duel with Iron Robe, or maybe...).

Summary: great fighting
Review: this film has some excellent traditional style martial arts fighting. for the price the disc is great-sure it's not anamorphic but it's not fullscreen like most budget releases. only bad thing is that while it starts of in the correct 2.35.1 ratio it quickly becomes cropped to 16:9-sure that better than 4:3 but why crop it at all? still this can be forgiven at the price.

Summary: GREAT FILM... AWFUL DVD QUALITY
Review: This is a masetrpiece that I saw when it was originally released. To watch it on the big screen is one thing, to see it on late night kung fu theater is one thing, to see it poorly duped from a bad VHS copy to DVD is a joke! Make sure the version you buy does not have the out of focus full face picture of one of the fighters. The out of focus cover duplictaes the badly dubbed DVD. The VHS version has to be superior to this! What a phenomenally awful job of transferrring! This film deserves better!

Summary: 5 deadly kats,,,,,,,,untouchable at the least
Review: to have this former saturday special on dvd.life is not so bad after all....and the copy/dvd transfer is very decent.of course there are scratches-n-artifacts and some flickering but all of the most important fight scenes are clear.for 15 bucks put your bootleg vhs copy in the back of the closet and pick up this epic/classic.what these 5 deadly fighters can do with no computer effects is special.the sound is fair...i've definitely heard worse on a dvd.if you don't have a copy of this;you're not a true martial art fan.it's that simple.....
