Summary: Judge for yourself
Review: THIS IS NOT AN ACTION MOVIE! Most of its praises have been due to its Matrix-like effects, but there is much, much more to it. Do you like mythic tales of action and romance with a dash of the enigmatic? (Hint: if you liked STAR WARS then your answer should be "yes.") If so, CROUCHING TIGER is for you.

As I said, this is not an action movie--it is a drama supported by action. Chow Yun Fat and Michelle Yeoh may be action stars, but their acting shines as brightly as their stunts. The subtelty they employed to show the emotion between their characters was perfect. In fact, the same can be said of the rest of the cast. If their acting was off, I couldn't tell because it was in Chinese. Their expressions, however, convinced me of their characters' emotions, so I think they all did a wonderful job.

It may earn me some criticism, but I'll say it anyway: anyone who thinks the movie is boring has been over-weaned on MTV and advertising. There are many long, quiet moments in the film that contribute to the unfolding story, but they are far from boring unless you have a two-minute attention span.

So don't listen to those who label this film a bore. It's filmmaking at its best. Even if you don't buy it immediately, rent the movie and judge for yourself.

Summary: BOO!
Review: This is in every way boring. I watched, almost threw up(no jokes-I think it was the movie, could've been the popcorn) I decided to give the film a second chance. You know what I found? BORING! Don't waste a nickel on this.

Summary: Excellent movie, excellent sound track
Review: This movie has so much to offer--martial arts, believable special effects, great music by Yo Yo Ma and excellent acting. I heard a lot of comparisons to the film Matrix but Crouching Tiger was much better AND had a positive theme. It was even better the second time around as I didn't have to focus on reading sub-titles, just on the action. The scene among the bamboos was amazing and so beautiful. It played like a dream.

Summary: Hong Kong release is fantastic
Review: Hi. For the last 3 months I've had the pleasure of watching this DVD on a Hong Kong import. I won't go into the quality of the film. You can read this from someone else. But I will tell you something about my release, hoping that it's similar to the US one. British voiced dubbing! It's fun. You can also watch this one in Mandarin & Cantonese. All three languages also have sub-titles. Extra features aren't that impressive, so maybe the US one'll be more full-featured in this regard. I have to say that on my 27" TV it's a little depressing though. The majesty of the picture just doesn't come across on my little box. But definately a necessary purchase.

Summary: Solid
Review: A solid film, but if falls short of being amazing. Ang Lee has done a magnificent job with the cast and a limited budget. A little too much flying around wrecks the importance of this film, which is to tell an epic story of love and destiny. When I saw this in the theaters, I heard giggling and laughing during the ridiculous flying scenes.

Summary: Best Movie Ever..................
Review: When I saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon in Universal Studios I thought it would just be another forgien film I can't understand. Even though it has to be subtitled the movie was great! It really was The Matrix meets the Samauri. I mean you could understand the movie even if you really didn't pay attention to the subtitles. The only thing about the movie I didn't like was the ending, but I can't tell you that because that would ruin it wouldn't it? JUST BUY THIS MOVIE! A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES, WHO LIKES ACTION, ADVENTURE, AND GREAT EFFECTS.

Summary: Simply breath taking....
Review: The first time I watched this film I sat through the majority of it with my mouth wide open in awe. The cinematography and fight choreography is some of the best I've ever seen. The wire work during the action scenes are amazing. The story itself is beautiful and the action adds to the epic story. I'm not a big fan of martial arts movies but this one has the great balance of drama and action. More martial arts films need to aspire to be more like this film. Ziyi Zhang is incredibly beautiful and is a definate up and comer in film. THAT'S IT, I'M DONE!

Summary: Great movie, perhaps not the best, but...
Review: It's strange that among so many reviews of this movie, there are only a few who absolutely hate it. It's interesting that, in the reviews these detractors write, they criticize the fact that it is subtitled. Perhaps it's no surprise that those who can't keep up with subtitles write the least grammatically correct, most poorly-spelled reviews. I personally had no problem keeping up with the subtitles, since they were so dumbed-down from the original Mandarin. I also was able to stay awake through the theatrical release BOTH times I saw it. I admit that there are sections where the wirework could have been improved, but overall, the cinematography and screenplay made up for the lack of polish in the martial arts scenes. As many critics of this movie state, "I've seen it all before," but never like this. Did the film deserve the Best Picture Oscar? It depends on the competition. This year, it was "Chocolat", "Gladiator", "Traffic", and "Erin Brockovich". Among those, I'll take "Crouching Tiger" (no "T" in "crouching") any day of the week, with "Traffic" a close second. I'm just glad it won Best Foreign Film. Buy this movie; you won't be disappointed.

Summary: A GREAT Drama Movie!!! Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Scores
Review: This movie was originally filmed in Mandarin with English subtitles but that is GOOD!! Chow Yun-Fat (Anna And The King), Michelle Yeoh (007:Tomorrow Never Dies) and newcomer Ziyi Zhang star in a spectacular romance-drama-action movie set in a time where women were given more respect and ALL people were treated equal. The special effects really dazzled and amazed me and are EXCELLENT. This movie REALLY DEFIES ALL the laws of gravity to the extreme!!! Parents, this movie is a little too violent for kids under 12. Should've won ALL the Oscars it was nominated for. Why didn't it win Best Visual Effects? This movie is one of those breathless roller-coaster rides you DON'T want to miss!!! This eye-popping thriller SHOULD'VE been rated PG.

Summary: Poetry in Motion
Review: This movie was a spectale to behold! It is a masterwork of sheer power and wonderous beauty. There's nothing like it! From the action sequences to the powerful emotionally charged soundtrack, this movie is great. I'm not hot on subtitled films, but this one's worth every penny. Once the story pulls you in, you'll get hooked and almost forget you're reading the subtitles. If there is one movie you see you see this year, make sure it's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
