Summary: Don't Waste Your Time
Review: I got to preview this movie before the general public got to see it. I wish I had never seen the stupid thing now. The only part of the movie that was any good was the beginning. The problem with this was that they just started the whole thing with a very good action sequence without explaining anything. It didnt make any sense why it was started this way. You didn't know why they were fighting with each other. Excluding the first 15 minutes of action, this movie was a waste of time.

Summary: HUGE MISTAKE
Review: Since I am a tremendous Jet Li fan, i expected this movie to big an astounding hit. After hearing about the release date of this movie i have been anxiously awaiting the day. I saw KOD on Friday July 6, 2001 and i can't tell you how much of a mistake it was. The action scenes were not at all what i was expecting. There was obviously too much wire work and you can even see the wires clearly. Also, Jet doesn't even speak English, his voice is dubbed. It sounds like one of those 70's Kung fu flicks that we have grown to love.

Don't get me wrong, wire work is great when not to far fetched, but c'mon, Jet li flying upside down and shooting down a helicopter while holding on to Bridgett Fonda. Too much!!!

I think if Jet wants to continue making movies he should stick with Wong Fei Hung in OUATIC. Enjoy the flick folks.

Summary: Jet Li's Best in the US
Review: This movie's got everything Romeo Must Die was lacking....More fighting, better acting, less wires(i heard it was used once? i couldn't tell) -- AND an evil Frenchman. The movie's action is nonstop and enthralls the crowd with Jet Li's "Chinese Magic" and lightning fast moves and acrobatics

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: No Wires, No Problem
Review: As far as action films go, this one is a winner. Which is what any movie that has both Luc Besson(The Professional, The Fifth Element)and Jet Li in the credits should be. The story is simple and everyone has heard it before, but what people have not seen before is Jet Li in this role.

Li plays a Chinese cop sent to Paris to assist the French authorities in a bust. The reason being that the bad guy is some scum from China. As it turns out things are not how they seem. Li ends up getting framed for murder and now he is on the run. Li has to watch his back at every turn, which makes for some great brawls, and the only person he can trust is a prostitute played by Briget Fonda. His goal: he has to prove he is innocent without being caught by the police.

This movie is so much fun to watch. Li, who apparently felt because of films like the Matrix and Charlie's Angels that the wire kung fu had become too commercial, decided not to use them this time around. The result is that the audience is treated to a display of old school fights, you know, the ones that actually happen on the ground. And to boot, the producers sent scouts all over Europe to find the best martial artists and sign them up. It works wonderfully because the action is great. Especially in a scene in which he fights two Schwarzennegger size twins.

I really felt this film put Jet Li in his element. He plays the cool stoic cop with compassion quite well. This is a better film than his previous American release, Romeo Must Die. So if you saw that and were not impressed give Jet a second chance and see Kiss of the Dragon.

Summary: Li shines and Fonda is wishy washy
Review: This is a must-see film for Jet Li fans! It's a fast paced action movie with quite a few good fighting scenes. Li was very enjoyable, and his English as well as his acting have greatly improved. This movie was mostly wire-free which was wonderful. It was nice to see stunts and fights where the action was believable.

This movie is not for the faint-hearted though. The action is very violent, and the martial arts are very hard-style as opposed to a softer traditional Kung Fu. Li's use of 'anything lying about that looks dangerous' to dispatch the bad guys often leaves you cringing and almost feeling their pain. Definitally not a movie for children.

Li plays a cold-blooded cop who doesn't mind killing the bad guys as he goes. Bridget Fonda is a washed up prostitute with bad lines and no spirit. She's really the worst thing in this movie, don't buy it just for her.

The plot was often hard to follow and they really tried too hard to have character development, but the movie is all together pretty cool. This is also a movie that is cinemagraphically pleasing to watch. I highly recommend owning it on DVD!

Summary: stacia's viewpoint
Review: "Kiss of The Dragon" was ALL action, there was not a moment of boredom. This is the third movie that I have seen by Jet Li, they were all good, but "Kiss of The Dragon" was the BOMB. Jet Li's performance in this movie was spectacular, all work no play.

Jet Li went to France for the first time on business, but turns out that the top cop was a psycho, a real one. Anyway, they did not see things his way and vice-versa, so he set it off. You are going to have to see this movie to feel what i'm feelin'.

Summary: His American films are getting better and better
Review: I have been a Jet Li fan for over 10 years, and I have seen almost all of his films. This film was nice, much, much better then RMD. Jet shows alot of this martial skills, being very cleaver in using differernt sorts of weapons, and alot of hand techniques.

The reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because even though there were alot of fighting scenes, the motion of the camera sometimes got in the way of seeing the actual techniques. If your not a martial artist then you prob. wont care. Otherwise the movie was HOT. Alot of action! If you are a Jet fan, you must see this one. His American made films are getting better and better.

No wires! Always a plus, showing his true skills. If you like this one then check out fist of legend. Jet is the man, plain and simple. One of THE BEST out there. Look out for "the hero" comming soon. peace

Summary: Repulsive vehicle for talented Jet Li
Review: In James Bond movies, espionage is beautiful, wealthy, and clean. Some spy movies are edgier; they show us the streets and back alleys, the addictions, the ugly and unromantic side of it. And then there is this hilariously repugnant film, where the beauty of Jet Li's martial arts skill (he was a reknowned prodigy at age 11) is buried in sadism, gore, and cliches.

Nothing cute goes unkicked here. The villainous French police chief Inspector Richard is the meanest sociopath I have ever seen in a movie. He and his hoodlums - all of them tough as nails and sneering - are an incredible bunch, shooting and blowing up public places in spite of the supposed secrecy of their mission. The inspector, in spite of being a public figure, thinks nothing of whipping out his gun and taking shots at a boat full of civilians in the middle of Paris. So much for the covert conspiracy. They are so over-the-top as to provoke laughter from at least one audience today. (I giggled when I imagined the office parties these guys might have. "Happy Birthday, boss...")

Bridget Fonda is valiant and thankless as the prostitute with a heart of gold and a daughter to rescue. Jet Li, whose earlier films (not RMD - go back to his overseas movies) are pretty good, is mostly expressionless and, sadly, humorless here. The few passes at jokes in this movie fall harder and flatter than Jet Li's opponents.

The violence mostly lacks excitement, wit, or beauty. There is plenty of blood and unnecessarily explicit vomiting. As for Inspector Richard's fate, it is much more chilling to hear about than to see - but see it we do. Maybe we're supposed to cheer. Mostly, we groaned. Even if action films are very much your bag, and you enjoy seeing a good villain get a royal thumping, you might find this a revue of violence that is too real and too cruel to be any fun.

Summary: Big Big Hit
Review: Some of the review I have read for KOD have not been very good....Where are they coming from???? This is an excellent movie and, boy, are we fortunate to have the opportunity to see Jet Li in action. He is one-of-a-kind! If you can kick someone in the head, while standing right next to him, okay, then you can be critical about the movie. It was also good to see someone keep his promise, a way of thinking we all need to be reminded of. Another observation: The theatre was packed on July 6th. A great job, by a Master of martial arts...a Big, Big Hit! To all those who underrated this movie, "You are making a big mistake." Go and really see this movie with open minds, and buy the DVD.
