Summary: Selling Sizzle But No Steak
Review: If viewers have read Jackie Chan's autobiography before, you would know that the main reason why he went to Hollywood is to be able to continue filming as his body wouldn't keep up with the stunts anymore. Some of the stunts here were done in his old movies before (that is before he went international) & truth to be told, there isn't much new stunts to be seen here. The premise of this movie is promising enough with actors such as John Rhys Davies (from Indiana Jones trilogy & Lord of the Rings fame), Julian Sand (Warlock), Claire Florani (Meet Joe Black, Mystery Men), Lee Evans (Mouse Trap), & even Asian stars such as Connie Chung (still in her best physical form after giving birth to a child). However, the script let this movie down big time as it's SO predictable & I'm sure that a child would have figured out the ending even before it finishes. In order to appeal to a wider audience, Hollywood tends to pair Jackie with another actor & in this instance, Lee Evans who uses Charlie Chaplin's slapstick movements in contrast with Tucker's loud mouth's persona. The whole movie has been too formulaic & one can notice the rigidity between the actors & actresses. I find it an utter disappointment. I honestly think that this is more or less a B-movie & to have it endorsed by Tri-star is quite unbelievable. I would believe it if "The Medallion" comes from Hong Kong but I'm dead certain that standards of movie-making in Hollywood has upped quite considerably since offering such as "Matrix" & "Lord of the Rings" trilogies. Either I have too high of an expectation or that Jackie is trapped in his time capsule that audience has moved on since his hype in the 80's. I still enjoy Jackie Chan's earlier movies than this. Nowadays, he resorts too much to artificial slings & artificial effects to give him deft moves that he used to take for granted years ago. There is definitely a better movie elsewhere.

Summary: Jackie: Please stay away from Special Effects!
Review: Well, I'm a Big fan of Jackie, like everyone here writing their reviews I guess. This movie has its moments, but honestly I didn't like when Jackie had the supernatural powers, all the flying and jumping, its not what his fans like. Fighting scenes were decent, but nothing like his old stuff. We wanna see the real Jackie, hand to hand, kicking ass, no wire stuff, no special effects. Also, the acting was pretty bad, not on Jackie's behalf. Don't like to put him down. This movie could've been a lot, lot better! I miss the old Jackie Chan (Drunken Master, Project A, Who Am I?)

Summary: Worst Jackie Chan movie EVER....
Review: I can't believe I spent part of my Saturday night watching this film. It starts with Jackie sporting some type of almost mullet-type hairstyle... and then it gets worse. Horrible special effects, lame fights, stupid story, terrible acting, and bad music.... and not in a good way. You know how movies are so stupid they're funny? This is just stupid. Make it stop, please :[

Summary: Meh?
Review: This movie has its ups and downs. I watched it once, and I was befuddled and horrified. However, I watched it a second time (I rented it), and it didn't seem quite as bad. I took it much less seriously because of my first run through, and I actually had a little fun watching it.

Admittedly, I had to slow motion some of the horribly edited fight scenes to finally see what was happening, and I had to brush off the terrible dialogue, but I liked it.

This is not your typical Chan film. It relies a lot on dialogue comedy insteady of Chan's trademark physical comedy, and it half succeeds, half fails. Some of the lines are genuinely funny. Others made me groan and smother my face. I don't want to know who wrote the script for this movie, because it mostly sucked.

Lee Evans tries to be funny with what he's given, and he gets it sometimes. However, he's not at his prime with this kind of material. I don't think anybody could be.

I liked the fact that Jackie actually had a romance in this movie, something that he said he was interested in going towards. Jackie and Claire's relationship is something I'm not too sure about. I actually liked the way it was presented. It seemed... natural, with awkward silences and the like... but I don't know if that's what they actually wanted. Whatever the original intention, I enjoyed the outcome.

Secondly, the movie had many random things happen and seemed to jump around. Whether this is the fault of the way that the company that released the film cut out over 30 minutes of the director and Jackie's version of the film, or just the way that it was meant, I don't really know.

If you're a Jackie Chan fan, watch this movie with an open mind, and if you need, watch it a second time (if you can force yourself to) after you form your own theories to piece the story together. You just might get some enjoyment out of it.
