Rating: Summary: This movie did total justice to Capoeira; dance of the soul. Review: This movie was a great reflection of what Capoeira is all about. It does not glorify it as violence as much as emphasize the unifying spirit of this most ancient dance. It also showed how people can get to know each others life and culture without being stereotypical.
Rating: Summary: The original "Rocky" movie, capoeira style Review: This was a really good movie in several different ways: It introduces the viewer to the Brazilian martial art known as "capoeira." (This fighting style can also be seen in the "Gan-ghen" fighting contest in Van Damme's video "The Quest"). It portrays this martial art as a beautiful, yet effective, fighting style. It is also a feel-good movie, reminiscent in some ways of the first "Rocky" movie, although the fighting style was obviously a different one: Capoeira, rather than boxing. A very entertaining movie!
Rating: Summary: A MUST SEE FOR ANY CAPOEIRISTA!! Review: THIS MOVIE IS ONE OF THE BEST MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE OUT THERE AND I'M GLAD IT WAS RELEASED SO AT LEAST PEOPLE CAN SEE THE BEAUTY OF THIS BRAZILIAN ART OF KNOWN AS CAPOEIRA. DACASCOS HAD JUST TRAINED IN CAPOEIRA FOR THE FIRST TIME ONLY A FEW MONTHS PRIOR TO FILMING THE MOVIE, YET YOU CAN'T TELL FROM THE FINISHED PRODUCT BECAUSE HIS SKILLS ARE SO SUPERB! HE IS A NATURAL TALENT AND IS JUST PLAIN AWESOME! THIS MOVIE HAS INSPIRED ME TO TRAIN HARDER AS A MARTIAL ARTIST AND TO ALSO GET INVOLVED IN THIS BRILLIANT ART KNOWN AS CAPOEIRA! AU BATIDO!!
Rating: Summary: Incredible!!! Review: A friend invited me over to see a movie he said he was pretty sure I'd love. I saw the first two minutes and was so pumped I could hardly stand it!! Read my lips: WATCH THIS MOVIE!!! Incredible moves, especially at the end (anyone who has seen it knows what I'm talking about). This was my friend's fourth time to watch it, and he said he was gonna watch it again the next day. I plan to see it at least a couple more times. No way to describe how cool this movie is. You have to see it to believe it!!
Rating: Summary: 2 words IT ROX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: This movie shows a hidden but deadly art of Capoeira. This is a deadly martial art that has its origin from Brazilian slaves. It is definatly worth a watch, great flick and Awesome fighting!!!
Rating: Summary: Action packed martial arts for the Martial Arts lover. Review: The movie was a great movie all in all. Granted the acting isn't the greatest but the fight scenes were well done and greatly choreographed. The story of an alumni of a now run-down school attempting to clean it up may touch the hearts of some an the fierce fighting my appeal to others. If I had two more hands I would give it 4 thumbs up.
Rating: Summary: The movie showed me my greatest skill.........Capoeira! Review: My friend and I rented this movie when he spent the night one night. He said it was a good movie and said I would like it. We watched it and I was so amazed that i had to learn it. I taught myself the basic movements the i joined a class nera me i didn't even know existed. I rock at Capoeira so much. Thanks ,Mark Dacascos, for being awesome.
Rating: Summary: one of the best if not the best ive ever seen Review: when me and a friend got this video from a shop on hire we just wanted to pass a boring wednesday night away well after watching it ,it had turned in to one hell of anight. the moves were brilliant, alot of the time it was unexpected. and that move at the end was awsome.an absolutly brilliant film and story line i have since then bought the film my son loves it and i have also started doing capoeira.
Rating: Summary: For those of you who are sick of Van Damme and Segal Review: Tired of having to sit through cheesy Jackie Chan films to see that one good fight scene? Tired of the same ol' kicks and punches. Try this movie. I had never heard of this style before. It is some much more intriguing to watch than any style I've seen before. Forget the splits and the invincible pony tail. It may not be oscar worthy, but it's worth a glance.
Rating: Summary: Taming the "beasts"... more than only Martial Arts. Review: First of all I'd like to comment that this movie of Dacascos has incredible Fighting scenes again. The Fighting style Capoeira is just "super dooper incredible". As I've already mentioned in Drive I like his""flying screw driver" move. But there's another aspect that I liked regarding this movie: Only the Strong is more than just a simple Martial Arts movie. It has some kinda message , too. It teaches us that Martial Arts are more than being powerful and defeating your opponent. For,if you think that Martial Arts is just for trying to be the best fighter you could easliy end up as a brutal killer. Back to the movie, I like Dacascos's methods to get the students around, giving them hope , confidence, respect and most important of all "something that they can strive for". I don't say that this method is the best way to convince tough guys, and I don't say that it is that easy as it looks like in the movie. But it would be one possibility to get violent kids around. And I as former Taekwondo student back in Germany (Germany is my home country, I'm here for Internationl school) demand to show more movies like that or even to try a methods like that in reality.(That's why the title "Taming the beasts") A very awesome Martial Arts movie!!!!!
