Summary: Brain Dead Cinema
Review: I think that this movie was poorly put together. It seems that those who think it is the greatest movie ever are more concerned with praising the director because of his past works. My main problem with this film is the swords. What is the purpose? It is not like she and her family were attacked with swords.. they were gunned down but suddenly she picks up a sword, which she has no skill with by the way. The worst scene in this movie is when the bride fights Yakuza and they all have swords and one fights with a ball and chain. I mean really...don't gangsters carry guns? Its set in the 21st century for crying out loud. The plot is horrible, the time frame is wrong and I could understand if it was a comedy..but anything else no. Show yourself some respect and save your money..rent it at best I gave it 2 stars because of its attempt at something unique and at times it was amusing.
Uma Thurman : tricks are for-
Lucy Lu : - kids

Summary: Thank god she is only killing Bill!
Review: 90% of the time in this volume is killing (2nd volume is better in this regard). Somehow, it reminds me of Indian movies (did you ever watch an Indian movie? Nehee). Anyway, it's nice to watch.

Review: If you watch this movie over and over again, I believe you will be like Alex in the movie "Clockwork orange" after the treatment.

Summary: hmmm
Review: Well I liked it, it was amusing. It wasn't brilliant, nor indicitive or a morally defunct society, one thing I could notice, but it was good It made fun of older japanese anime, the sword fights were not perfect, but interesting. I laughed alot, the soundtrack was well done (having Wutang's producer do it was a good call) I liked it, but to the rest of you, saying this movie is THE GREATEST THING OF ALL TIME, or...THE WORST THING OF ALL TIME....get over yourselves, yeesh.

Summary: Surrealist, gratuitously violent trash
Review: This movie combines extraordinary amounts of violence with almost no plot at all. I'm not a prudish person: I'm all in favor of violence that is reasonable and enhances a movie (eg. soldiers in a combat zone getting blown up). By contrast, the violence in this film is grotesque, unbelievable, and serves no particular function. The plot could be summarized without loss on an average-size napkin (woman gets beaten up and raped, recovers, and travels the world slaughtering members of the responsible gang).

That this movie has been (and continues to be) so enormously popular is a frightening testament to both the herd mentality that prevails amongst movie-watchers and our society's numbness to gore and brutality. I recieved this movie as a gift, and I am sorry to have unwittingly contributed to its success. One star is too much.

Summary: dont buy this DVD !
Review: This movie is trash, poison for the mind and soul.I recommend a peaceful non-violent movie like "The straight story" with Richard Farnsworth and Sissy Spacek. The USA is already going down the toilet,we dont need "kill bill" to help it along.

Summary: True manga-style cartoon on screen
Review: People really take Tarantino too seriously. "Kill Bill" is pure comic-book, but not the Marval kind. The film is his tribute to the grown up Japanese Manga which has only been available in the US the last ten years or so. It is sadistic and masochistic at times, and very stylized and definitely violent. Maybe that's why you have to read them backwards.

The fountains of blood issuing from severered limbs are totally comic book. The "Crazy Eights" battle is perfectly choreographed. (Reportedly "Kill Bill" was an even bigger hit among the Kendo/Iaido crowd than "Last Samurai") Tarantino is not capturing real life, but a specific style and content which is not intended to be realistic or even plot driven. This plot is pretty thin and quickly settles in for major action. As Tarantino deftly shows in interspered cartoon, "Kill Bill" could have just as easily been animated as not.

There are some good, non-X rated antimated movies based on manga - some tamer ones are "Akira" and "Cowboy Bebop." These might be a good lead in to "Kill Bill."

Summary: Mind-Numbing Garbage
Review: I went to see Kill Bill in the middle of a mostly mind-numbing convention. The movie did nothing to improve my mood. The level of violence--implied, threatened, and realized--overwhelms what could have been an interesting storyline. This is commercial exploitation at its schlockiest--before one can understand Kill Bill 1, one needs to see Kill Bill 2, where supposedly all questions will be answered (Who is the Bride? How did she become an assassin? Why did someone want to kill her? Why did they pick her wedding in the middle of Nowhere, Texas? Who is Bill, anyway?). I come out of few movies wishing I hadn't wasted my time, but this is one of them. Skip the DVD and find something good, like Master and Commander.

Summary: What You Need: Better Editing, Writing, and Acting.
Review: Quentin Tarantino's new flick, Kill Bill, is an indulgent film--for surely we've all seen him in countless interviews, discussing the love of Asian action films which pervaded his youth, and Kill Bill--with its blood-spraying severed limbs and smooth decapitations--is Tarantino at his most sentimental. In the film, Uma Thurman plays an assassin who goes by the name Black Mamba who, on her wedding day, was screwed over by her fiancée, Bill, and an assemblage of world-class killers. "Revenge is a dish best served cold," the film opens, and The Bride, after four years in a coma and with a resentful heart, is going to make damn sure of that. Kill Bill is packed out with suspense, and I must admit it is nice to see an action film in which a gun is used only once--in the first scene. Though the film is fast and enjoyable, the real downfall of Kill Bill is in the editing and the writing. It is quite obvious when watching the film--Volume I and II--that it would have been feasible [and probably advantageous] for Tarantino to have written only one film by combining both Volumes and cutting the filler--innumerous shots of a sword being pulled slowly from its sheath or the light gleaming on a sharpened blade--of which there is certainly plenty. If the films were combined and edited, Kill Bill would have gained strength and been even more enjoyable, and the length of the scene which features the fight between Black Mamba and Cottonmouth would have been significantly amended. But more money, right? As for the writing, Tarantino just doesn't have the dialogical precision that he once did. When Black Mamba goes to serve a little revenge to her old nemesis, Copperhead, in the opening scene, she sounds as if she were about to burst out laughing every time she opens her mouth. Both actors deliver their lines without conviction--the fury feigned and the wit short. Of course, this is a fault shared by the actors and writer alike, but if it had been written more convincingly, it could have, in turn, been executed more convincingly. In fact, in order to construct that ghetto bad-ass flair of Jackie Brown, Tarantino has the actors say "bitch" at the end of every line, as if of this good comedy is really made. Though that was in the first scene, Tarantino pulls this kind of crap all the way through Kill Bill, trying to pass the film off as a piece of pulp-fiction instead of a disappointingly written action movie--there is a difference, you know. Kill Bill is, of course, a measurable cut above the average kung fu action thriller, and its writing isn't really that awful, but it is still quite exasperating to watch because it could have been so much better.
