Rating: Summary: Dissapointing Review: I had read the book before I watched the movie, and actually didn't like it. So I decided, well... maybe the movie and their little cubbie pop star Radcliff could fix the story line and all a bit up so that it would make a tad of sense I watched the movie, and was utterly dissapointed. If you have a child with you, its a great movie, but when you really think of all the unrealities Harry Potter and his frends could have taken i.e Ron as a Knight and not dying?? To me, Ron not dying is like in the Lord of the Rings FOTR, except its Boromir, and it made 1000's of times more sense. For childish minds and children, great movie. For people who love happy endings or want a family movie. For Lord of the Rings realists, and people that like good movies, a dissapointment.
Rating: Summary: Magical Review: This film was excellent, the first time I saw it was in Australia and then again in American and the films were a little different, along with the titles. One for the whole family. Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: DVD difficult to navigate Review: I love this film and think it's a solid adaptation of the book, especially the fantastic art direction. The DVD, however, is a bit of a disappointment because there are no audio tracks for commentary, and the deleted scenes are nearly impossible to find. Instead of allowing the viewer to select the deleted scenes, they turn it into a game, and the game is very confusing. I gave up, rented the video, and watched the scenes on that. All of the special features are on a second disk. So far it's seemed like to much work to get through it. I'm glad I got the DVD since the art direction and cinematography deserve the clearest medium, but I think the project manager was a bit over-ambitious and knew nothing about human-DVD interaction. Pushing buttons in the hopes that something will happen certainly isn't my idea of a good time, and that's exactly what you have to do because there are no buttons on screen, just arrows as in "go here" or "go there" through corridors kind of like a DOOM game.
Rating: Summary: Fun Representation Of The Book Review: I debated on whether to rate this movie with three or four stars. First of all, let me say that the book is better. When I first saw the movie, I was somewhat disappointed with it because it left a lot of the material from the book out. What I didn't realize at the time was that the movie was already over two hours long. It seems that if you read the book then watch the movie, you anticipate what's going to happen and the time goes by faster than you realize. Anyways, it's a fun movie and it is very loyal to the book. There were only a few minor, impossible-to-notice things that were added or edited from the book that only a true, hardcore Harry Potter fan would notice. Overall, it's an enjoyable movie and a good introduction to the world of Harry Potter!
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter and the Sorcer's Stone by Amanda Review: Has someone you don't like ever bossed you around? Or has anyone ever tortured you? Have you ever done anything with magic? Well, Harry Potter, the protagonist, has never played a sport while flying on a broomstick. He's never worn a cloak of invisibility, befriended a giant, or helped hatch a dragon. All Harry has known is a miserable life with the Dursley's. Ever since Harry was a baby, he's woken up to Dudley's laughing, and his aunt's fist pounding on his door. Each day Dudley follows Harry around and tortures him. Harry's Aunt and Uncle boss him around, and Harry never plays any sports. He only goes to school, comes home, and gets bossed around some more. At school Harry doesn't even have any friends! In the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, by J. K. Rowling, Harry's life changes suddenly. On Harry's 11th birthday he receives a mysterious letter from an owl messenger. Harry's Uncle Vernon finds the letter and rips it up before Harry can read it. As the week goes by, more letters come, and each time Uncle Vernon rips them up or burns them. On Sunday when no mail is supposed to come letters come flying through the house from everywhere. When Harry gets one, the letter is an invitation to a wonderful place he's never ever dreamed of. There he finds not only friends, aerial sports, and magic around every corner, but a great destiny that's been waiting for him...If Harry can survive the encounter.
Rating: Summary: Go Daniel Radcliffe.......this movie is awsome! Review: I like this movie. Daniel Radcliffe totally looked like Harry Potter, so did Emma and Rupert. I think that the actors made this movie come together. They really fitted the character's descriptions. Another great movie, and I love movies that were made because the books were awsome. J.K. Rowling must be pleased!!
Rating: Summary: Great movie. Review: Of course, the books are always better, but if I were you, I would read the book first and then buy the movie and watch it. This movie is good, you should buy it soon (if you don't have it yet).
Rating: Summary: A great visual aide. Review: I caould watch this movie forever^.^ I watched it before reading the book & it helped me picture the characters & Hogwarts vividly as I read the book. Visual aide's not the only thing the movie does for the book. If you watch it before reading it, it makes the book funnier & more surprising. I did the exact opposite on the 2ed movie by reading the book first, but then after watching the movie I had to read the book again. The movies were very well made with great casting, great acting, great special effects, & great scenery. I couldn't enjoy Quidditch better any other way^.^
