Summary: Inane Cats and Dumb Dogs
Review: In a nutshell I found this movie to be inane and boring. My six year old summed it up best, when she said, "That was funny like a knock, knock joke." The movie did try to humorously explain some of the quirks in animal behavior that so mystify humans (why dogs drink out of toilets, when a clean dog bowl is near by.) It even had a few original jokes, but most of the movie stock cliché. Most of the relational interactions between the humans were complex and made you think that they were going to be integral to the story, but they never were explained by the movie. Because of this disconnect between the acting and the plot, Jeff Goldblum's character seemed more dazed than scientific, and the son seemed shallow and stupid, while the mom came off as flighty and protective.

Summary: Another potentially good plot wasted...
Review: The whole concept of a war between high-tech dogs and cats was really good and opened the door for a really funny movie. Once again, hollywood blew it, sacrificing the quality of the movie with sappy drama, predictable plots, stereotypes and cliches. Jeff Goldblum's character is really stupid (as if scientists really have sealed laboratories in their homes where they cover themmselves with wires, mix colored liquids all day and begin every new idea with "protein synthesis!"). The whole fact that the cats kidnap and reveal their plan to the family at the end kinda throws the whole "secret intelligence" thing out the window. There were a few funny scenes in the beginning, but you'll find yourself getting annoyed as the movie progresses.

Summary: Cats rule and dogs drool!
Review: The worst part of the movie is that cats are trying to take over the world which makes them bad. This is a hilarious movie and I'm going to see it again as soon as possible. The catch phrase Who will you root for always brings to mind the cats. The cast is great and the evil cat Mr. Tinkles is hilarious. The cats should have gotten more screen time but this is a great movie anyway. There are reveiws that say they barely heard anyone laugh well the theatre I was in couldn't stop laughing. My dad liked this movie alot too, and it has an enjoyable plot. Frankly Shrek is a little iffy with the younger kids and this is not. The whole movie is absolutley hilarious in some parts I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard. Its not to long and it doesnt drag on like some other movies I've seen. Jon Lovitz does a great job as the calico who is Mr. Tinkles right paw cat.

Summary: Good special effects, thin plot
Review: I have to admit I was excited about seeing this film. The plot sounded like a winner and the comparisons to "Babe" had me thinking that Cats and Dogs would be as well written. There are so many ways this film could have gone, but alas, Hollywood went the simple route: lots of action, special effects and cutesy slapstick humor. None of the potential plot lines are thoroughly investigated and even the special effects become tiring after a while. The cats are totally unlikeable and are much less believable than their canine counterparts. Its almost as if the film was made by dog lovers who hate cats. The dog characters are impeccably rendered whereas I almost thought I could see strings attached to the cats they looked so fake.

I'm sorry to say, unless you are taking a child under 9 years old, go see a different film this summer. Only pick up this film off the video rack after you have seen all the other summer blockbusters.

Summary: Furry Fun!
Review: Cats & Dogs could very possibly be the best movie of the year! With pleanty of slapstick for the younger kids and jokes for the more mature (e.x. dog says son of my mom) kids. When you get home you'll give your cat a toss and give your dog a hug!

Summary: What's the matter, Cat's got your taste?
Review: For the past thousand years plus, one of the greatest conflicts that exists on this planet is the 'battle' between cats and dogs. And so, today we have the technology to finally examine the feud. CATS & DOGS is funny for the younger set and actually has a pretty tight screenplay, although its dependence on the 'smell-my-butt' humor was slightly off-putting. The film seems to be the culmination of the "HOMEWARD BOUND","BENJI" and "HOME ALONE" films with just a touch of "ACE VENTURA". So, in the dog days of summer, this can be a simple distraction. Let it be known, this movie takes sides in the battle, so, if you hate dogs this is not the movie for you...

Summary: A keeper!
Review: I have no kids, but I do have cats -- a Persian in fact -- and I love dogs. This movie was an absolute HOOT, and those who made it used natural dog and cat subtleties that pet owners know so well. "Airplane"-like in that I think one could watch it repeatedly and see another subtle joke. Terrific for all ages. When it hits video/DVD, it'll be on my shelf!

Now I'm concerned about my Persian -- he seems to be contemplating World Domination ...

Summary: Great Special Effects, Great Animals, Boring Humans
Review: This movie would have been more enjoyable if the humans weren't in it. The humans were just boring, and their acting wasn't very good. The whole human plot wasn't very original either. It was the same old work obsessed father who doesn't spend time with is father storyline. The cats and dogs were hilarious, especially the russian spy cat and mr tinkles. The only problem w/ the dogs were they didn't have a personality. They weren't really fun. However, it was still funny to watch dogs and cats fight matrix style. I'd recommend you to see this movie for the cats and dogs scenes, and when the humans come on take a quick nap!

Summary: Cute, very funny, and creative!
Review: This is one of the best new movies I've seen recently! I'm a teenager and all my friends and I saw it and loved it! Younger kids and adults would, too. For one thing, it is hysterically funny. Mr. Tinkles, the head evil cat, is a riot. The dogs, like Lou the Beagle, Butch the Anatolian Sheperd, and Ivy the Saluki, are adorable heroes. The story is unique, a sort of war between the two pets right under human noses. Can the dogs guard their master's formula for canine allergies before the cats get it and change it so everyone is allergic to dogs and take over the world? Come to the doggy conference, where German sheperds represent Germany and Irish Setters are from Ireland, etc., and see CATS & DOGS soon!
