Summary: Well made and very UNDERrated...
Review: This movie was well made, well animated and well cast. It also has a beautifully composed score. Critics bashed the hell out of it and I don't see why. It was a decent film with an easy to follow plot. It wasn't emotional or mushy which is soooooo hard to find in animated movie these days. (Spirit Stallion of the Cimmaron is so full of fluff I alomst lost my lunch) I appreciated the more sarcastic humor in this film. It's not like it was Oscar Worthy but, people should learn to lower their standards when it comes to animated films, I mean honestly what can you possibly expect? :)

Summary: Beautiful to look at, but, bland otherwise
Review: "Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas", (2003), is a film that looks great, but, is very average otherwise. The film has Sinbad trying to get a book that was stolen by an evil goddess, (who had him framed for the crime), otherwise his childhood friend, the prince, and the only son of the king will be killed in his place. The prince agreed to put his life on the line, so that Sinbad has 10 days to recover the book. The prince's financee also goes with Sinbad to make sure he will try to get the book back. Of course the woman and Sinbad hate each other at first, but, later fall in love. The artwork is the best part, of a movie that is "by the numbers" from beginning to end. Young kids would probably like it more than grown-ups who have seen this type of movie countless times. Trivia note; Sinbad was first from Bagdad, but, the movie is mainly about ancient Greece, with Sinbad wanting to retire to Fiji where they have "umbrellas in drinks". Don't ask too many questions watching this movie, such as Catherine Zeta-Jones expertly sailing the ship when she gets behind the wheel for the first time. Don't ask about the Earth being flat either. There are a lot of boring chase sequences that are probably there to fill up the time. This is some violence, but, nothing that offensive. Boredom is the film's biggest problem. This film really deserves 2 1/2 stars, but I gave it three for the artwork.

Review: I've Seen This Twice In Theaters. The First Time I Couldn't Stop Focusing On The Beautiful Animation. The Second Time I Wanted To See It With My Friend. Everyone I Talk To About This Movie Loves It But What's Not To Love. It's Funny , Got Some Action , And Is Pretty Dramatic In Scenes. The Pickles And Eggs Joke Is So Funny So Suspend Belief And See This Movie. You Won't Be Sorry. Who Cares If It Flopped? My Friends And I Sure Don't.

Review: I don't want to be mean but I am not surprised this movie flopped so bad. Audiences seem to be turning their backs on traditional animation in favor of CGI (check out Finding Nemo's box office results, like $300 million and climbing). There's nothing particularly wrong with Sinbad. It just doesn¡¯t stand out in any way. There is no edge or spark or real reason why we should pay it any attention. Sure there are some funny jokes, a bit of humor and dramatic scenes backed by a loud and ¡®appropriately¡¯ jingoistic score. But we¡¯ve seen this hundreds of times. Be it DreamWorks or Disney, hand drawn animation is DEFINITELY out. Piglet¡¯s Big Movie, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, Treasure Planet, Atlantis and Road to El Dorado all bombed. The Emperor's New Groove was the last successful one I can think of but it had a sense of humor more in common with The Simpsons or Family Guy; widening the audience appeal. No doubt DreamWorks are hoping this will do better on DVD. Though I still can¡¯t see any reason why anyone should choose this over something more ambitious such as Monsters Inc. or Nemo. It¡¯s a good way to kill 90 minutes, but nothing you¡¯ll want to watch again.

Review: THE OPENING SEQUENCE IS SPECTACULAR. Sinbad and his crew attack another ship and try to steal 'The Book of Peace'. The fighting reminds of 'The Matrix', minus the bullet time. And it actually works better here. There are a lot of action sequences here; it would help to have more of a story, though. For the most part--'SINBAD' is a children's version of 'THE ODDYSSEY', including a scene with Sirens. The major problem with this movie is that it does not have any music to tantalize our emotions.

Review: This movie has it all. Romance, action, adventure, origionality. There are absolutely no bad points to this movie. If you are someone who likes Star Wars and Lord Of The Rings, you will love this movie.

Summary: This isn't your children's animated feature!
Review: And thank goodness for that! No singing teacups, no dancing elephants, and nothing is cute for cuteness's sake. There's a lot of wry and clever humor in this movie, much of which will sail over the heads of the under 12 crowd. The animation was striking, and I especially enjoyed the ways the characters actually communicated with their eyes and facial expressions -- without the obvious mugging that usually occurs in animated fare (although I won't say it's "mugging free"). I was intrigued, excited, involved, and reasonably impressed. There was actual plot -- and not completely predictable plot, either. Of course there were several adventure movie cliches, but then, it's an adventure movie! My only nitpicks were the abundance of colloqial speech in this semi-sort of "costume" movie, the liberal mixing and expanding of Greek and Arabic myth, and the lack of any other "gods" aside from the demi-goddess Eris. But those were things that only bothered me when I thought about them afterwards, and certainly didn't impinge in the slightest on my enjoyment of the film. I had a few quibbles with the animation style -- tiny feet and thick lower legs caught my attention a lot and shirtless men with HUGE aerolae but no nipples (looked like they were wearing pastees) and the unibosums of the female characters, even in low cut clothing were only noticeable because so much time was spent focusing on those areas of the characters -- in fact, one character, Kael (sp?), was practically nothing but a skeptical expression over a huge bare chest. These little ommissions seemed like some sort of concession, making small anatomical details more obvious by making them absent. If they'd been there, even vestigally, I probably would never have noticed. I recommend this one heartily -- but leave the toddlers home with the babysitter!
