Summary: Not bad at all
Review: Fans of the first "Spy Kids" should enjoy this sequel. It's more of the same "spy" fun, with the same two actors playing the children, and Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino are back as their spy parents.
There are more spy gadgets, and more children are now Spies as well as Juni and his big sister.
Add Ricardo Montalban("I am Mr. Rourke, and welcome to Fantasy Island!") and Holland Taylor, a familiar face from t.v. shows such as "Bosom Buddies" and a funny actress. They play the grandparents.
Add Steve Buscemi, who I had no idea was in this until he graced the big screen. He plays a scientist type whose experiments with miniature animals goes awry, and turns them all into giant creatures than take over the island he lives on, which is near the bad guys central location.
This is a fun, family movie that will keep you interesting as well as your children. It may be a little scary for younger children because of the animals.
Keep your eyes peeled for Taylor Momsen, she was "Cindy lu Who" in "The Grinch". Throught the entire movie, I couldn't figure out who she was, then saw her name...She played the President's little misbehaved daughter.Recommended for family's night out with their children between 8 and 12.

Summary: The best movie ever! Parents and kids will both love it!
Review: This movie will blow you away! If you were impressed by the first one, you will be absoulutley astounded by the second! It is much better by far. The high teck gadgets and special affects are wild and fun and the plot will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat! Adults as well as kids will be excited to see it again and again! This is definitley a family movie with plenty of action and adventure. Carmen and Juni Cortez are at it again, but this time, they have a little competition from two new comers Gerty(Haley Joel Osment's sister) and Garry Giggles. They are both always trying to compete against one another, at the same time, trying to stop the Giggle's evil father from taking over the world. At the end everything works out for the best and they have a funny little skit at the end showing Alexa (Carmen) and Darryl (Juni) strutting their stuff, Darryl is on guitar and Alexa is attempting to be a popstar. I guarentee that you will love this movie! Have fun!

Summary: Good for what it is
Review: Any movie with Christopher McDonald *and* Steve Buscemi gets at least a few points in my book. But seriously, Spy Kids 2 is not a bad movie. It's an unpretentious family flick, and it doesn't bog down at any point.
However, while writer/director Richard Rodriguez has been receiving tons of praise for his accomplishment, he fails to do one very important thing in his movie: create any real suspense. The threats the Spy Kids run into are more momentary diversions and less life/mission-threatening terrors. Spy Kids also falls into the trap of over-reliance on computer graphics, which oftentimes serve to remind the viewer that it's only a movie. Still not an unenjoyable watch, though. Especially for kids.

Review: let me just say i loved spy kids and i wanted to see the second one but you know how it is for most movies the sequel is not as good as the first well let me tell you it is just as good ofcourse without the first one there wouldn't be a second one but this one has 3 times as more action also i love it that the trailer never gives away what the story is about so i saw go see it if you're a kid make your parents take you I will definetly buy this movie when it comes out on dvd.

Review: GENERAL: Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, first of all, is a strange title. Yes, the plot centers around an island, but where does the "Lost Dreams" part come from? Just a question...
ACTING: The acting in Spy Kids 2 is great, even from the kids. They're completely believable, and really live up to expectations.
PLOT: Good, better than most sequels this summer, but not nearly as interesting as in the first. It's basically a competition between two rival families to find a device first- not very gripping.
HUMOR: I was sad at how little I laughed during this film, as opposed to Spy Kids where my sides hurt. What happened?
SPECIAL EFFECTS: Just like the first, the special effects here are unique and made with a technique all their own. "Spy Kids style". Very good.
MUSIC: Is it just me, or was the EXACT SAME music from the first film just recycled? No, it wasn't me. This was quite a disappointment, becase the score for the first film was great and I was looking for some exiting, new material. Oh well.
CONCLUSION: Now don't get me wrong, Spy Kids 2 is a good movie for the young and old. I really liked seeing some of my favorite characters return, it's just that this film seems a little disappointing compared to Spy Kids. I hope the final Spy Kids, which starts filming in November, is a little better.

Summary: An Amazing Collection of Film Talent!
Review: Spy Kids 2 is an amazing movie with amazing special effects and an amazing plot.Picking up from a first movie could be hard because you have to live up to the last movie.The first movie as great as this one except the second one was much beter because you knew the characters.I don't like movies where they introduce the characters where as in the sequals they could just get right to the plot. The bad thing about this movie(which is the reason I only gave it 4 stars)was that there were too many spy kids.What was better about the first one was that Carmen and Juni were the only spy kids and that made them special.In this one there is a whole unit of people called Spy Kids making them all just spies.Shorter spies. The plot of the movie is not complex but everything is connected.I mean in the beginning something I thought useless to the movie would play an important part at the end of the movie.You'll see what I mean when you see it. But all it all except for the slight downfall Spy Kids 2 The Island of Lost Dreams is a fun movie for both kids and parents alike.Steve Buscemi has always been a favorite actor of mine for his talents in Ghost World and Domestic Desturbance and he still didn't disappoint me with this movie.I don't want to ruin anything about the plot so go see this movie.It's worth the money. ENJOY!

Summary: Gadgets galore...
Review: In my opinion, Spy Kids 2 has lots of improvements. 1. The gadgets. In the first Spy Kids, there were great gadgets but the ones on SK 2 are beyond imagination. Take for instance, the Nano Technology all-in-one multi gadget that you can wear on one wrist. 2. Double the action. This time, there are 4 spy kids actively involved in the mission. Lots of kicking butt. 3. Cool monsters. Imaginative monsters makes this movie much more exciting, kind of like Clash of the Titans. 4. Humor. Noticeably more humor in this one so expect lots of laughs. Overall, my son and I had great fun and I found it to be highly imaginative and creative. Hope there will be a Spy Kids 3 to come!e

Summary: Everything you would hope the sequel would be
Review: Sequels are usually disappointing, and I am delighted to be able to report that this one is not. In fact, it builds and expands on the success of the first film. There are moments that are silly, and a few that are ill advised, but as a whole this film is as inventive, as entertaining, as funny, and as delightful as the original. I hope that Robert Rodriguez makes yet another sequel before the two central characters--played by Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara--grow too old to play "kids." Most of the elements that made the first film so successful are back: treacherous villains, colorful sets, whimsical technology, and improbable henchmen. There are even cameos by several from the first film, including Alan Cumming and Tony Shaloub. But the thing that made the first film so great, the incredible inventiveness (which should NOT be confused with special effects, since special effects more often than not curb inventiveness), is not only back, but made a major theme of the movie. Although equipped with a bevy of high tech gadgets, once the kids get to an island with a device the renders all their items inoperable, they are required to rely entirely on their wits. In the same way, Rodriguez is a master at getting the maximum out of every scene, using technology frequently, but never relying upon it instead of his wits. The movie contains an extended homage to stop-motion animator Ray Harryhausen. Few individuals are as respected as Harryhausen as an animator. Before the advent of computer animation, his animation of various monsters and exotic creatures represented the apex of movie special effects. Interestingly, in SPY KIDS II, computer animation is used to produce creatures and monsters that movie and behave exactly like Ray Harryhausen creations. For instance, the Spider Monkey could have come straight out of many of Harryhausen's film. But the influence is more direct than that in this film. The skeleton warriors in this film are almost certainly borrowed directly from Harryhausen's famous skeleton warriors from JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS, one of the highpoints in the history of onscreen special effects. I would be astonished to learn that Rodriguez did not intend these scenes as homages to Harryhausen. This film is absolutely not for kids alone. Adults will enjoy this film every bit as much as any child. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Actually, Quite Surprizing!
Review: I have to admit, I wasn't really looking forward to this movie. The first movie was OK, a little annoying at times, but at least had the charm of originality. In watching the commercials for this flick I felt it was going to be just plain dumb. And, for about the first 30 minutes, it was. The plot was hokey, the characters were dumb, and the scene where all the spy kids attempt to fight all the "waitors" was silly. But after awhile it began to get interesting. The plot began to at least make sense (in a wierd sort of way), and all of a sudden you begin to look forward to the next twist. Some of the tongue-in-cheek scenes were rather amusing and the special effects, though not up to "Lord of the Rings" standards, were credible. It seemed to me that this movie was almost a tribute to those 1960's Sinbad movies and that the creatures were meant to resemble those. I have to say that I began to enjoy this movie tremendously. Also, this movie provided a first for me. While I like to sit through the credits in most cases I am usually the last one left when they're over. In this case, I only saw four people get up and leave during the credits. Between the "music video", the out-takes, and the final scenes, everyone stayed to see what would happen next. It was rather cool. I would recommend this for all families. Again, the first 30 minutes or so might drag on the adults in the crowd but if you can survive that you are in for a treat.
