Summary: Get it only if the kids pester you.
Review: I expected a lot more, especially considering how good the first one was. I took some kids to see the first one and wasn't really looking to enjoy it, but I really enjoyed it. Later I went and bought the DVD and VHS as a gift. So I took some kids to see Spy Kids 2, and they were the same kids who loved the first one, and one of the kids was bored and the smaller girl wanted to leave. And there I am wondering what the heck happened. This movie was sort of bizarre. In the first one you had jet packs, robots and a mini-submarine, but with a little stretch of the imagination you could believe it. In Spy 2, everything was flying, including cars and a WHEELCHAIR. Then there was a cheap Ray Harrihausen rip-off with some fighting skeletons. How the heck does a movie dealing with spy gadgets turn into fighting the undead? Then there's this idiot scientist who, for the heck of it, creates giant mutated creatures. I could believe the robots and the jet packs, but a gorilla/horse creature??? In Spy 1 it appeared the major characters were all getting about the same screen time. But maybe it was me, but it looked like the Juni and Carman (the main spy kids) were getting about 75% of the film, which made the other characters seem insignificant. The movie ends...or so we thought. We walked out and got about halfway up the aisle, when next thing you know Carman's singing and cha-cha-ing all over the place. Then Juni gets an electric guitar and they're in front of a concert filled with kids. What the heck was that?! I guess Director Rodgriguez was under too much pressure to capitalize off the success of the first Spy Kids movie to care about a decent story, and he figured he'd add a couple of songs to the sale of the soundtrack, which was no where near as good as the first one. The first movie had a great soundtrack for a kid's movie, worth buying. But this one...yuk! Only buy this movie if the kids pester you to get it. Otherwise, keep quiet and hope they don't bring it up. And if they do make a Spy Kids 3, wait till one of your neighbors see it so you can get some feedback before you see plunk down good money to see flying donuts, a half-chicken half-squirrel creature, and Juni and Carman shaking their booties at a disco.

Summary: Worse than the first
Review: And I thought that one was pretty awful. My kids loved the first one so I took them to this one - judging by thier reactions, they didn't like it as much either. The plot is lame, thin and a kid over 9 would agree that it is pretty silly to the point of stupidity. The special effects are by far and away the worst I have seen in a movie in a long time. My kids kept commenting "that looks fake". To say the least, they were awful, not one effect looked real in the least. The characters had even less development than the first and the acting, even the acting of relatively accomplished actors such as Banderas and Buschimi was strained and contrived. Very young children will enjoy seeing the Spy Kids again, parents should simply do themselves a favor and nap through this dog.

Review: "Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams" is another in a line of great sequels to great movies. Overall, if you enjoyed the first film you'll be very pleased in the next installment in this "Bond for Kids" comedy/adventure series!! THE STORY: Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) are back in a bigger and wilder adventure than before. This time the Cortez siblings are locked in a dead heat to get to the bottom of a mystery concealed by a remote and mysterious island before a rival team of Spy Kids beat them to the punch. THE COOL THINGS: The "Island of Lost Dreams" expands upon the Spy Kids world tenfold as we are introduced to the entire Spy Kids organization including its hierarchies and ultra-cool weapons. The "monsters" in this installment are also more formidable looking (mutated/spliced animals) as compared to the comical mutated humans from the first movie. We also get introduced to the extended Cortez family tree as Ingrid's parents gain a supporting role. In all, seeing the competing Spy Kids and the newer and cooler weapons made this movie more enjoyable. BEST SCENES: 1. The Monster Duel 2. Popstars Carmen and Juni!!! (HILARIOUS!!!) 3. Battle at OSS THE VERDICT: Spy Kids was generally regarded as a good, solid movie not only for kids and families, but anyone in general. It was fun, entertaining and all around enjoyable. Summed in a nutshell, Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams is even better!!! Highly Recommended

Review: This was good no way better than the 2001 Spring Hit. I went to see this this Labor Day weekend with my mom and we loved it I especially loved the music video "Isle of Dreams" by Alexa Vega during the credits I watched it a few times on Disney channel It's awesome I loved this movie and hope you go see it If you liked the first Spy Kids this will definitly be one you won't want to miss...

THIS WASNT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST. IT WAS ACTUALLY KIND OF LAME. IT WAS FUN THOUGH. IT WAS NEAT. THIS TIME CARMEN AND JUNI ARE ON A MISSION TO GO GET SOME DEVICE ON A SECRET ISLAND RULED BY STEVE BUSCEMI. WELL IT ISNT ACTUALLY THEIR MISSION. IT'S THE NEW SPY KIDS A GUY NAMED GARY AND HIS SISTER. YOU SEE CARMENS IN LOVE WITH GARY BUT IS AFRAID TO ADMIT IT. WELL THE NEW SPY KIDS AINT GOOD WHICH WAS VERY PREDICTABLE. THEY ARE EVIL BECAUSE THEIR FATHER WANTS THE DEVICE FOR HE CAN CONTROL THE WORLD AND CLEAN OUT THE CORTEZ FAMILY. FLOOPS IN IT AGAIN. SO IS MINION. SEE IT FOR THEIR COMEDY.

Review: I liked this movie. I seen this movie at a new theater in Brewster. It was better than Spy Kids. Spy Kids 2 Rules. When a lost device gets stolen, when a mad scientis threatens to take over the world. They are going to this island to get this device back. The Spy Kids are back in the all-new adventure. Looks like a Disney movie. I like the part when they go to this place where they talk without their mouths moving, because they are doing there thoughts.

Review: Yep, that's right, the Spy Kids are back, and they're better than ever!
Now that the Cortez Kids know the Truth about their parents "previous" jobs and life, the family has gone back into the OSS! (spy organization...) Anyway, now their father Gregorio, is running to be elected head of the OSS! But at a dinner party for some strange reason, he's not elected, a man named Donnagon is instead, so now ALL the best spy kid missions are going to his kids kids, bratty Gary and Gerti Giggles....
When the Giggles' get an elite mission that CArmen and Juni have had their eye on Carmen decides to do something about it!
Now there all in trouble, with the Cortezes AND the Giggles trapped on an unknown island, that has the most fascinating and deadly secrets yet..... this movie was awesome! even better thatn #1! great family film! Go see it, you'll love it!

Review: "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams," written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, continues the cinematic adventures of the Cortez family. Alexa Vega and Darryl Sabara lead the cast as Carmen and Juni Cortez, a brother-and-sister team of kid secret agents. SK2 is a truly multigenerational story; in addition to featuring Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino as the kids' parents, the film also costars Ricardo Montalban and Holland Taylor as the kids' maternal grandparents. In this film, the spy kids trace a missing device to the fantastic island lair of an eccentric scientist (a fun performance by character actor Steve Buscemi). As the kids pursue their mission, they have a continuing rivalry with another brother-and-sister spy kid team (played with nice touches of Nellie Olson-ish nastiness by Matt O'Leary and Emily Osment). This kid-vs.-kid conflict gives an added kick to the fast-paced story. SK2 is a really fun and exciting film. There are some wacky, Willie Wonka-ish images and satiric touches (one memorable sight gag involves some overprotective Secret Service agents). Some of the colorful special effects sequences seem to be homages to classic Ray Harryhausen films. And the film is filled with great spy gadgets; these kids really out-Bond 007 himself. The performances are solid all around; the cast members have enjoyable chemistry with each other. The casting of Montalban (a sci-fi/fantasy icon due to his roles as Khan in "Star Trek" and Mr. Rourke from "Fantasy Island") is particularly inspired; the veteran actor brings tremendous charm and warmth to his role. I haven't yet seen the original "Spy Kids" film, so I have to judge SK2 on its own. It's suitable, I believe, for the whole family; the violence in the film is of the cartoonish, non-lethal variety, and the film presents a nice message of family loyalty and togetherness.
