Summary: Excellent Translation to the Screen
Review: The Chamber of secrets is truly an amazing movie; like all other films based on much-loved books it underwent harsh criticism from several reviewers for not living up to the book. However, I deliberately did not reread the book just before seeing the movie and I found that it kept me from constantly comparing it to the book through the entirety of the film.
The film is so wonderful because it is really in the spirit of Harry Potter--we see characters become more viable and real in this second film. The kids are growing up, and it shows. I feel that this is entirely appropriate for the feel of the film, since a large part of the books revolves around typical growing pains that we all go through.
Would I recommend this movie for younger ones? Not necessarily, unless they are mature or do not scare easily. This movie is a bit darker than the first, and they are sure to become progressively more so (to the delight of older fans who have grown up with the books).

Personally, I can't wait!

Summary: Better than the first.
Review: The Chamber of Secrets is a really good movie, and more exciting, thrilling, and darker than The Philosopher's Stone. The Philosopher's Stone was a great introduction, and it was a pretty good movie, too. It's probably even better for families who will be watching with kids, because The Chamber of Secrets is pretty intense. For anyone wanting a thrilling movie (or any of the adjectives I've used above, for that matter) than The Chamber of Secrets is a good pick.
My guess is that the next Harry Potter movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban, will be even darker. And I wouldn't worry about The Goblet of Fire getting massacred too badly. If The Matrix sequels do well, than the studio might release the Goblet of Fire in two parts with a couple of months in between. Each part would, I guess, be two or three hours.

Summary: Read the Book
Review: If you only watch the movie, I think you will be confused, yet entertained. If you have read the book, you will be disappointed. Many parts of the book are cut, yet other parts of those particular storylines are still included, it doesn't make sense at times. It's still pretty good, but could have used more, I realize it's so long already, but I hope that for the others they will split it into 2 movies (or more in the case of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (706 whopping pages!). This would be a better idea, just like they do with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Overall, enjoyable, but the book is SOOOO much better. Be literate people =)

Summary: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Review: I thought that this movie was awsome! I even liked it better than the book. The actresses and actors did an amazing job, and so did Chris Columbus. All the magic that is in your head after reading the book comes to life in both this and in the first movie. The whole thing was awsome from the beginning to the end, especially the music. John Williams, who composed both the Harry Potter movie's music as well a Star Wars: Episone II: Attack of the Clones's music, did an outstanding job with the music for this particular production. To sum it all up, no matter if you did or didn't like toe first movie, you'll love this one!

Summary: Good but not good enough
Review: Okay this movie was very well done great effects and all but the story was cut to much for it to be as enjoyable as the books. I know that no movie will ever amount to the value of the book or detail, but I still believe they cut some of the important parts like how they cut out Filch's squib thing that may be important in future books for all we know.
The second reason why I give it a four is because the special features are not so great. The features are very similar to the first movie. They give you very few behind the scenes info. like most movies. All you really get is a quick description to how it was like to work on the movie and how the actors have grown. Not enough in my opinon. But hey you buy it and judge for yourself.

Summary: More linear than the 1st.
Review: I just bought the DVD today.

I enjoyed this film a great deal, it is not as bogged down as the first with introducing everyone and all the escapades. If you have read this book, this is a faithful compressed version of the story.

The extras on the second disk are very nicely done, just enough to tempt, but not enough to completely satisfy. Then again, I am not a 12 year old, I am 36.

Touring Dumbledore's office was particulary well done and viewing all the sleeping portraits made you feel like you were right there.

In the section SKETCHES, the artwork that shows how the characters - Dobby, Basilisk, Fawkes (among others) - is very interesting.I like seeing how things develope from drawing to final product. There are further sketches of a scene ( Harry meeting Dobby for the first time in his bedroom , as an example.) that I would have loved to see in the book, they have a very magical quality about them, much more than the spartan artwork given.

The interview with JK Rowling and the Steve Kloves (script writer) was very informative and enjoyable. Even the script writer does not really know what is going to happen in the future books and that has to be frustrating for him.

I got the feeling from this interview that the reason why specific scenes were kept or not used at all were because they were essential for the future books and movies.

I would give this five stars, but I would love to see more, more, more behind the scenes interviews.

Summary: This Muggle loves Harry Potter
Review: If you are a fan of the first film, this one is twice that. It has more action, more characters, more story, more everything! The actors are amazing. The graphics are outstanding and awe-inspiring. The story will be a classic! J.K. Rowling is a genius and it shows in this film. I highly recommend this movie for children and adults alike. So, go out and get yourself a copy! Whatcha waiting for? :)

Summary: Better than the first one
Review: I had my copy of the DVD 5th April in Hong Kong (dunno why it was a week earlier) and it was SO much better than the first one. As usual, there are two discs, one for movie, and the other for Special Features. The Movie disc had the trailer and also a quick review on the first movie.
the Special Features disc was a HUGE improvement. Firstly, the Additional (deleted) scenes were not HIDDEN somewhere: you can select it on the main menu. There's a "Play All" function, which makes viewing a lot more easier. The tours, sketches and interviews are great, but the games are okay, especially the "Forbidden Forest Challenge" which was confusing. They both have goodies when you finished it (at least the Chamber one, I couldn't finish the Forest one).
