Summary: Great adaptation of the book!
Review: This was a great movie, yet you don't get the same effect as you do reading the books. You don't get to know the characters well, and there aren't as many witty dialogs between the 3 characters in the movie. Yet, I think they still did a great job on it. It captures the second book good. Daniel, Emma, and Rupert do even a better acting job than the first film. They play their characters outstandingly real. I also think they did a great job on the new characters, like Lockhart, Colin, Lucius, and Ginny. I also think the special effects look great. Dobby, the mandrakes, the pixies, fawkes, and the basilisk look great. The 2nd DVD, which is special features, has hours of exciting features. There's 19 deleted scenes, interviews with all the cast members, and an interview with JK Rowling and the screenwriter, Steve Kloves. Plus, there's fun and exciting games to play. A much better and interesting special features disk than the first movie had! A great addition for your Harry Potter collection. I also highly recommend the Harry Potter books if you like the movies.

Summary: Amazing.
Review: Although I thought the Sorcerer's Stone movie was a disaster, I saw this movie because I am a fan of the Harry Potter books, and plan on seeing every movie. The problem with the movie, "Sorcerer's Stone," was that Columbus failed to add anything that wasn't in the book, making the movie seem flat, and sometimes boring. The special effects were horribly done. You couldn't help looking at Voldemort and not think, "computer animation."
NOT TRUE HERE. Chamber of Secrets is amazing. The special effects were the best I've seen in a long time, and they are espechily amazing when you look at the creatures. During some of the action scenes, you forget that the things are computer creations. Not only that, but Columbus, this time, adds MORE. The final battle was not RIGHT out of the book like it was in the first movie. The final battle featured many more different things happening, and, in a different order. This made even people who read the book nervous during these scenes, because, since it is not right from the book, you don't know what's going to happen. This movie features a lot of humor, much more than in the Sorcerer's Stone. The action scenes are top-notch, and it makes me wonder why Columbus doesn't make action movies. He knows exactly how to completely surprise those watching the movie. The acting was great. Once again, improved from the Sorcerer's Stone.

This movie is not for young kids. While seeing the movie, I noticed that parents around me were grumbling during the intense final battle scene about how upset they were that this movie was not rated PG13. Personally, while I don't think this movie was PG13 material, it does verge on PG13 material. And I think that is necessary. The Harry Potter books are not exactly "Goldilocks and the the Three Bears." This movie needed thrills, it needed some violence, and it was appropriately added. It is one of the scarriest Harry Potter books made. Critics complain about this film being too intense; Well, wait until they see the 4th movie!

My only problems were that many of the deleted scenes really SHOULD have been in the movie, and that the muggle-born issue was not NEARLY as focused on as it was in the book. And the fact that the ending seemed kind of rushed. The ending; one of the biggest problems with the movie. Columbus has a scene at the end of the movie which makes you wonder what he was thinking. First of all, in the book, Hermione did not hug Harry at the end. J.K. Rowling even commented on this (in the interview that's on the DVD) saying that this sort of thing did not happen until the fourth book. Not only that, but.....well, just watch the scene. You can easily tell that it was not in the book.

Other than that, this movie is a must-own, and definately puts the first movie to complete shame. Alfonso Cuaron will be directing the 3rd Harry Potter movie. I hope he does as good of a job as Columbus did on this movie.

Summary: harry potter passes with flying colors
Review: Harry Potter passes with flying colors! this movie i personally would like to recommend you going to see! it describes the second year of hogwarts witchcraft an wizardry when a house elf comes to harry's aunt and uncles house on private drive and gives harry a warning not to return to hogwarts that year because bad and terrible things were about to happen. Harry ignores the warning and passes it off as a prank or something and goes back to school with ron weasley (harry's best friend from school) and stays at 'the burrow' for the remander of the summer. During the school year harry hears strange voices that other people can't hear, and people become 'frozen' with fright. Near the end of the year ginny weasley gets taken into the dungeons thousands of feet below the surace and it is said that she will die so harry, ron, and gilderoy lockheart go into the dungeons to save her(with a little effort gilderoy is forced down -he is a sissy-) > the door to the chamber of secrets lies in the girls bathroom < gilderoy tries to put a spell on ron with ron's disfunctional wand and the curse ends up backfiring and cusing gilderoy to forget everything about what happened. Harry beats voldemort once again with the help from fawks ( albus dumbledores pheonix )and godric gryfindors sword and the old sorting hat. Harry and ron win points for their house and end up winnig the house cup. Hary goes home with his uncle and has yet another bad summer.

Review: I have really enjoyed the series and was not disappointed in this one.

Summary: One of those rare sequels which improves on the original
Review: HARRY POTTER AND THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS is a big improvement on the first film. The pace isn't so sluggish and there is more action.Again directed by Chris Columbus, THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS begins with Harry's birthday which he is spending with his scummy Uncle, Aunt and his repulsive behemoth of a cousin. But things change for Harry when he finds Dobby the Elf in his room; who warns him of an evil plot being hatched for the forthcoming year at Hogwarts and tries to talk Harry out of going back. But even though Harry's uncle has literally turned his room into a prison, he is rescued by his friends in Ron Weasly's fathers flying car and returns to Hogwarts. Problems soon arise when someone opens the forbidden Chamber Of Secrets unleashing all sorts of evils for which Harry is blamed, naturally the members of Slitheron delight in this, but then Professor Dumbeldore (the late Richard Harris in his final role) explains that Harry has a special ability, which osctracises him from everyone... And that's only the tip of the iceberg.
The effects this time around surpass the first film and Daniel Radcliffe and his young co-stars are growing nicely into their roles. Some scenes may be a bit scary for younger kids- especially the sequence with the giant spiders, but there is a lot more action here and for schmoes like me who can't get into the books this is well worth a look, if a bit long.
Includes a bonus DVD with "deleted scenes" which actually appear in the film, so in that respect you've been diddled by Warner Bros. "Lockharts Classroom" which includes a photo gallery etc, plus photo gallery's for each major character in the film. There's also a doco "Behind Hogwarts" which features a J.K Rowling interview, "student" interviews and sketches. "Dumbeldore's Office": Take a tour and see how designers constructed it for the film. (There's more!) You can also take a Daigon Alley Tour where the viewer controls the camera angles allowing them to move down the street and look at the stores, though there's only one shop you can enter and browse in. And finally there is a game where you match the spell with it's effect and a preview of the computer game.
So if you're a fan, this will be like having Xmas come early. And if you're one of those people who thinks Harry Potter is "evil", maybe you should find something more constructive to do. This is just a harmless fantasy movie. On lanimilbus segassem ereh. (Read each word backwards and you'll understand!!).

Summary: Alright, fine . . .
Review: I'll read the Harry Potter books. I'll wear fake glasses, speak in quotes, and get a t-shirt with HP on it. I have officially become a fan. No constant urgings from all my other siblings made me run for the book as did this movie. It's got a piece of all those wonderful things i've read in other books combined together to form this surprisingly epic story. The movies always begin on the light side, fun esp. for kids, but by the end it becomes so much more as the real heart of the story is revealed. Harry has all the qualities of a hero, which are questioned as well as played out more and more through each film.
I liked the first movie a lot (i LOVE the chess scene), but this one is definitely the winner. I can only say that i'll never bypass watching the movies in a theatre again!

btw, i just began book one and am gushing already :)

Summary: Fun movie; great DVD features
Review: I've read all the available HP books more than once, so I'm fussy about how the text is treated in the movie. Columbus and company treat the text with respect, and do a good job of translating to the film medium.

There's no way to get it all in, and DVD is perfect for including scenes which obviously were labored over and perfected before they were cut.

There are lots of games, additional tours, and special features that make this DVD worth buying. DVD is a great medium for allowing HP fans - or fans of any s-f or fantasy world - to immerse themselves more fully.

Summary: Better than the first!
Review: If you liked the 1st film, you'll love this one, specially the 19 deleted scenes!

With a tighter plot, incredible special efects, even better acting from Daniel, Rupert and Emma, and wonderful new characters, this is by far much better than the first movie!

A must have for every HP fan!

Summary: better than the first
Review: This movie had a lot more action than the first. The characters seem to be a little bit more mature, but its still all good. The story plot was ok, although they left some stuff out from the book. Overall, I would recommend adding this dvd to your collection.
